This is used as a back-up to my Mod light as i ride in total darkness home from work I wanted a simple, cheap light in case my main one failed. That said, I replaced the bulb with a mag-lite xenon bulb and use high quality rechargeable batteries. With the new bulb, light output was great and with good rechargeables, burn time is not an issue unless you plan on riding all night. I get about 4 hours on my batteries. With these simple upgrades, you get a great light for under $30. Also, the newer style mount is more durable.

Throws a good amount of light for a cheap head light.

4 AA batteries only last about an hour, maybe 2.
Bottom Line:
This is NOT a head light for use on the trail. You will easily fall into a hole and die if you try using this light in the woods. This IS a decent headlight for commuting on semi to well lit streets with the occasional dark alley.

I went through four of these in about a month- the mounting bracket always breaks, even under city commuting use. Vibration causes the plastic bracket to break, or the tabs that hold the light on snap off. Also, do not ride in the rain with these- they drown very quickly.

Bottom Line:
It will break eventually unless you ride on perfectly smooth roads all the time. If you are willing to slap a piece of duct tape across the top to hold it on, it will work just fine. Still, if you do any riding in the evening, and want a reliable light, you might as well spend a little more and get something better.

The price. The strength of the light for the price. Easy to adust where the light focuses. Nice spread of light with a focues beam in center.
Weaknesses:
I am leary(?) about the plastic mount breaking. If I plan on doing a demanding trail or some urban stuff, I tape some electrical tape around the light to make sure.
I don't think I am getting 2hours, but close enough I guess.

Well for the price this light is very impresive. Mind you I have only been on a few runs with it so durablity may be a factor in overall use. So far I have down I few drops with it and it has stood up.(so far)
Battery use: I think it is supose to have run time of 2hours. It starts to fade, so you do have a heads up on it.
Bottom line: It seems okay so far. In fact I think I may get another put on. Ohh and rechargeable batterys.

Others have been a bit harsh. No, it's not going to vaporize the countryside, but for the money it works fine. It has a tight, focused beam and it's not that hard to change the batteries (seriously....how hard is it to turn a screwdriver?). And it's not bombproof, but if you treat it with care it will serve those who can't afford a more expensive light very well. I put 2 flamin chilis, but I would say it's about a two and a half.

Never buy a light that is sold in a plastic "clamshell" package that costs about as much as the batteries. I used it for about 2 hours and then it ran outta juice. It was scarry riding the trail and even on the road it only made it possible to see the lines. .. pot holes were invisible. Also, you can't do a quick-change on batteries. You must get a small flathead screwdriver and pry at some metal before you can take the light off the rack, then you have to use a phillips head to take the whole thing apart ... then you can change the batteries.
My suggestion: Bite down and buy a REAL LIGHT! you can get one for 100 bucks that will be more than 10 times what this light is.
