    Favoriate Trail:Daily Ranch
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $50.00
    Purchased At:Craigs list
Strengths:Great Quality, one of the only Aluminum mini bikes out there (weighs 18lbs). This bike is little, but built as well as any full size BMX bike. The Headset (Cane Creek) is full size, as is the bottom bracket. The Frame and rims are aluminum and the hydroformed tubing is full sized. The axles etc. are also full size and stong. P.S. this model has a dark blue metal-flake paint job that would do any restored hot-rod proud.
Weaknesses:None so far, except that for a 16" bike, it is a bit smaller than most. This bike may even be a good choice if your thinking about getting a 12" bike for a beginner. The good thing is the handlbars are adjustable for and aft, as is the seat, so expanding the set-up should be easy. Probably a good fit up to about 6 1/2 years old. Being this bike is almost 3 years old I re-greased the axle bearings (which looked fine)and the bottom bracket bearings (which were dried out and a bit loose).
Similar Products Used:Looked at Wally-Mart bikes, but I just couldn't get myself to buy junk (most of the wheels don't spin, the brakes are useless, and they tend to weigh more than my full size mountain bike.
Bike Setup:Stock except I added an aftermarket hand brake for the rear. I picked up a "Rush" bmx brake setup for $15 and it fit and installed easily.
Bottom Line:Great bike. Your better off buying your son a used quality bike like this (or a Trek), than a disposable bike from Toys R US etc. for the same price. This bike will work much better, last much longer, can be worked on like any other full size bike, and can be sold for about what you paid for it when he out grows it. I gave 3 chilis for value (assuming you buy it new), and 5 chilis for overall rating ($50 used and great quality)

    Date Reviewed: October 4, 2006
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $140.00
    Purchased At:LBS
    Strengths:Light, strong, good looking
Weaknesses:I didn't like the hard edges on the handlebar mount, but I was able to buy a pad that fit.
    Similar Products Used:Trek Jet 16
Bike Setup:pad on handlebar mount, aftermarket grips
Bottom Line:Most 16 inch bikes are so overweight that little kids can hardly get going on them. The Specialized is decent. It has an aluminum frame and rims. It is way lighter than the equivalent Trek, and doesn't cost much more. It looks great. My 4 year old loves it. It is a great bike for the 3-5 year old set. I would like to see hand brakes for the bigger kids, though.

    Favoriate Trail:pecock rise
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $2400.00
    Purchased At:start cycles
Strengths:everything, the hardcore heavy duty frame is sick as for heavy dh/fr use, i hucked this 50ft gap and it was mad, no flex whatsoever, if you have the tyres moderatelly flat it takes the 30ft drops a bit better, seeing as its a rigid and all.
Weaknesses:oh i suppose the only weaknesses would have to be the girlie graphics, every1 dissed me at crankworx and beauty, buller, etc. (all the national rounds)
Similar Products Used:santer cruise, gyant, speshalised, koner, rocky mountain, mongroose, norcro
Bike Setup:stock as, trust me, dont do any modifications and IT WILL LAST!!! i have done more hucks than anyone else in aus. and it was on a childrens bike !!!!
Bottom Line:this bike is mad, everyone get 1, its soo hardcore, i have done so many hucks and national and state rounds on it and its still going strong!!!!
