I was also told that this hub was bombproof, but it wasn't even ride proof!
I changed from my cheap Deore hub to the AtomLab GI rear hub because I was tired of constantly adjusting the Deore one. I had the Deore for more than a year and nothing was wrong with it. The GI hub looked great, cromo axle and all, but shortly after installing this hub, the problems started to apear. The bearing caps were ipossible to keep tight. As the bearings wore-in, the axle started to get some play. After 6 months of use, the bearings self destructed. New bearings were installed (only 2 by the way, not 4 bearings as is standard in good hubs!) and these lasted a couple of days. In the end the axle was ruined and the wheel was useless. So I bought a new Mag 30 and laced a cheaper (price wise) Novatec hub into it. This wheel build is the best I've had. The distance between engagements in the hub is half or less than that of the Atomlab hub. It has 4 bearings. It is a true through-axle (ie. axle can be removed without any hub disassembly, the Atonlab hub requires lots of work and specialized tools) unlike the Atomlab design. And best of all, it isn't a piece of crap!!

Bottom Line:
i had this hub built up a year ago with wheelsmith spokes, and sun doublewide rims...bottom line is that this is an excellent hub. i've been jumping, hucking, bashing, crashing, dropping, and all around abusing this hub, but it's still going strong. it looks like the last reviews were bad, but they're from 2003? maybe atom lab got their hub s**t together since then, cause these things rock. i don't even know if they still make these ones, but the company is worth giving a shot! tough as hell!

Looks sick, clicks loud(so hikers here you right before you run them over)

The bolts on the ends of the hub would always loosen, I broke the cassette cage(when i was pedaling, the cassette gave way under the load and would spin freely)
I would not recommend buying this hub at all, I bought it from adrenaline bikes as the whole wheel with the aircorp rim(works great), but after three days of Snow Summit the things gave way, now adrenaline bikes is special ordering the parts(i pray the warranty covers it), and they acted like it was bomb proof and would be the last wheel I would ever have to buy. If you are interested in there rims then just buy a shimano hub and have them laced. My stock shimano hub has been going for a year with no problems.
