from Kansas City Date Reviewed: November 19, 2001 | | Duration Product Used: | More than 3 years | | Strengths: | Good, solid and simple. Has worked with little maintenance over five years | | Weaknesses: | Must be taken apart regularly for cleaning and lubrication or it won't engage properly | | Similar Products Used: | XT, LX hubs | | Bike Setup: | Ibis tandem with Mostly XT stuff/Chris King Headset | | Bottom Line: | One of the prettiest hubs out there. But that doesn't really mean anything. Easy to service and reliable. You MUST clean and lub regularly though. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from New Zealand Date Reviewed: June 16, 2001 | | Favorite Trail: | Redwoods Rotorua New Zealand | | Duration Product Used: | More than 3 years | | Price Paid: |
$75.00 | | Purchased At: | Pedal Pushers | | Strengths: | Sealed bearings (4 in rear hub), easily disasembled to clean and oil, strong design. | | Weaknesses: | Heavy compared to the new products. No colour options. Freehub needs oiling, no grease or the pawls stick. Not a hassle as two allen keys and the hub comes apart. | | Similar Products Used: | LX, XT, other cheap stuff. | | Bike Setup: | Sunn Exact ti 01 with lots of ti bits | | Bottom Line: | A good hub set that requires a bit of servicing in the rear hub free wheel to keep it running freely. Otherwise a good product that is strong for us heavier guys.(90+kg) Five for value front & rear for $150 NZ Four maintance on the rear hub.Much easier than servicing an XTR though. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Los Alamos, NM Date Reviewed: May 28, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | Quemazon | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Was on sale, sealed well, easy to work on. | | Weaknesses: | Breaks easily, loud | | Similar Products Used: | Shimano STX, XT, Chris King | | Bike Setup: | Hardtail | | Bottom Line: | This hub sucks. The pawls don't engage properly a lot of the time, and so you have to constantly take it apart and fix them. Also, I managed to break 2 pawls entirely pedal-kicking up over some rocks. Not a good product by any stretch of the imagination. Service wasn't great either - they questioned whether I really had a WC hub and got quite huffy when I asked if the pawls broke often. | Overall Rating: |
