Description:The Flak is a straight-up skate-style helmet. It offers great coverage, il doesn't get in the way and doesn't shout out for of attention. That's a perfect fit for riders who don't really want a helmet in the first place.

    Favoriate Trail:F.I.N.S.
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $35.00
    Purchased At:Biker's Edge
Strengths:Hardcore shell with comfort to boot!
    Weaknesses:None so far.
Similar Products Used:Some kind of Bell helmet bought a Wallymart.
    Bike Setup:07 Diamondback Response Sport
Bottom Line:Bad arse helmet for the green. It's tough and has great looks.

    Favoriate Trail:any
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $40.00
    Purchased At:REI
Strengths:Hard Shell gives me a warm and fuzzy going up against big boulders and rocks. Doesn't make me look like an alien.
    Weaknesses:No visor.
    Similar Products Used:Another Flak
    Bike Setup:Reign2
Bottom Line:I'm on my 2nd Flak. The first one was retired after a nasty crash into soft dirt and plants, which compressed the foam. I can almost pull the foam right out of the shell. I think I'll wear a bandana under the new one to soak up the sweat. Still needs some kind of visor.

Submitted by Idiot Pony a Weekend Warrior from Alexandria
    Date Reviewed: February 24, 2008
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Price Paid: $30.00
    Strengths:Price, Style
    Weaknesses:None
    Similar Products Used:None
    Bike Setup:Does it matter? It's a helmet.
Bottom Line:After two years it's time for me to finally buy a new helmet. Two things are putting this Flak in its grave - my lack of foresight in saving the spare set of interior foam pads, and the shell is coming loose from the Styrofoam body. I am tempted to get another Flak because they have served me well, but I'm not fond of the stupid designs present on the current models. I've luckily never had to really test this helmet in a crash so I can't say if it's a life saver but it's been comfortable and hasn't made me look like a total tool so I guess that's worth $30.00 or so.

    Date Reviewed: December 16, 2007
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $30.00
    Strengths:Cool design(camo), comfortable.
Weaknesses:I had a few stickers on it, but when I tried to remove one of the sticker, the matte lacquer layer on the helmet came off with it! Leaving a patch of scar and it's disturbing because they continue to peel off...
Similar Products Used:A few other unbranded bmx helmets...
    Bike Setup:UMF Brad 1 Team
Bottom Line:Good helmet, but don't mess up with the matte lacquer layer on it. I tried peeling off the other stickers, and I got the same result. The matte layer peels off as well. Now I got a very ugly and terrible looking brand new Giro Flak...

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $40.00

    Strengths:Looks great.
Weaknesses:Could use a thicker pad on top.
    Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher Bitter- Kenda K-Rad rear tire, otherwise stock.
Bottom Line:Looks like a BMX helmet, but designed for Mountain Bikers. I've got the Flat Black Camo version in size large, could have maybe gone with a medium but with the extra thick pad in back and medium pad in front, it fits just fine.

Similar Products Used:Mace Trigger, TSG Evolution.
Bike Setup:06 Kona Stuff w/ wtb saddle, B37 pedals, odi grips and vee rubber tire.
Bottom Line:This is an awesome skate style helmet. it doesn't look ugly like the mace trigger, and it is extremely comfortable to wear. the only better helmet that i've ever worn was the TSG Evolution, and was more expensive.
