Description:The ME2 makes it easy to get young riders ready, thanks to clever design features like simple strap guides, a single-hand adjustable fit system and a pinch-free buckle. The soft interior padding is removable and washable, and the colorful graphics give it plenty of pep.

    Favorite Trail:tipperary creek
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $20.00
    Purchased At:performance
    Strengths:easy to adjust fit/retention system
Weaknesses:fot/retention system only held in by adhesive velcro
    Similar Products Used:none yet
Bike Setup:Ventana Elconq tandem w/Chariot trailer
Bottom Line:We got this helmet (2007)because of the dial adjust for fit. It's much easier to get set up after our son is in his trailer. BUT after a couple of months the entire fit/retention systems velcro fasteners came unglued from the inside of the helmet and then glued itself to our son! the helmet then had no fit at all and just flopped around wildly. Giro said they had never heard of this happening, but as I checked at stores, many of these helmets had already come unglued in the store. Very bad design. could be quite dangerous if it happened while riding

    Date Reviewed: February 3, 2006
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $30.00
    Purchased At:JAX
Strengths:This is a great helmet (2002)! Has held up for almost 3 years of toddler punishment -- from bike carrier, to trailer bike, to a 12" mountain bike, to a scooter. Fit is great, and adjusts easily for another child to "borrow". Rough and tumble 3 year old has not had any "noggin" damage, with this on.
Weaknesses:A bit hot for our weather here. Usually find a wet sweaty head under the helmet if worn for any lenght of time. The chin straps loosen after a few wearings and need readjustment. Can pinch chin. She does not really like the triangle buckle that fits under her ears on the chin strap -- often complains it bothers her head/ears.
Similar Products Used:Older GIRO for our older child. Have a 2nd newer 2004 which we will use now that the 2002 is showing a crack or two (cosmetic) on the surface.
Bike Setup:12" Trek Mountain Cub, 14" Kent, 20" Trailing Bike (attached to an adult mountain bike), Kettler scooter
Bottom Line:May try to find a toddler helmet (my girls wear these until they are 5) that gives better overall "back of the neck" coverage, and has more air vents. But overall, a great durable helmet.
