Description:If the universal-fit helmets are just too small, this one's for you. Same design as the Giro Torrent 2, just bigger. Great price, great helmet!

    Date Reviewed: October 18, 2007
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $32.00
    Purchased At:Princeton Sports
Strengths:It fits my big head very comfortably with some room left over. Helmet stays secure if worn properly all day long, not matter if your on the street or hitting the trails. I love the snug fit when adjusted.
    Weaknesses:For the price, none.
Similar Products Used:A wide range of Giro helmets. (Sport/ mountain styles)
Bottom Line:THIS HELMET IF FOR THOSE OF US WHO HAVE A BIG HEAD. If you are an average person by an indicator. I have taken a couple of spills and this helmet has held up great. I had a bird poop on it, so you know it is good luck. All helmets have to meet the same standards. The more expensive ones just have more vents. Great by for the price. They normally run about $42. If you do not know how to wear the helmet, ask your local bike shop for assistance. It is not like your putting your life at risk by improperly wearing a helmet. (Sarcasm!!!)

    Favoriate Trail:Riverhead
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $40.00
    Purchased At:Freeridin'
Strengths:Cheap as chips and it does a good job of protecting your head. It's a bit on the large side and has saved me a few times from some quite big crashes without suffering more than a couple of scratches.
Weaknesses:Pretty much all the shortcomings are down to the fact that it's cheap. Many of the other reviewers here seem to have forgotten that. It is hard to get the straps right, the visor can move around if it gets knocked and compared with more costly helmets, it doesn't look too flash as it is quite big. But it's cheap !
Similar Products Used:Just upgraded to a Giro Hex.
    Bike Setup:Giant AC06 with Mallet C's.
Bottom Line:Buy it if you're on a budget and want more cooling than a cheap dirt-style lid; a few shortcomings but it does the job.

    Date Reviewed: August 2, 2004
    Favoriate Trail:commute & recreation
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $40.00
    Purchased At:White Oak, Japan
Strengths:Fits my large head, visor holds a tiny LED lamp for being seen at night and to read gear and speed indicator.
Weaknesses:The chin strap slips in the buckle, needs tightening every few months. Visor attachment weak, the holes in the cover widen and lead to cracks (but mine holds up so far).
Similar Products Used:None (BMW Motorbike helmets)
    Bike Setup:Recumbent HP Velotechnik Spirit
Bottom Line:Fine for commuting, adequate ventilation for summer and mild winter (but no bug net). It remains on the head as intended and has a reasonable price. Whether it helps in a crash is hard to estimate, too much depends on the circumstances and I rather not try it.
Fair value, I bought another one of the same make, just in case.

Favoriate Trail:Rock Springs, Rocky Ridge, and China Camp
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $35.00
    Purchased At:Sunshine Bikes in fairfax
    Strengths:it's cheap
    Weaknesses:ugly, visor attachment system sucks
Similar Products Used:I'm going to get a bell xray
Bike Setup:2004 scalpel 2000 (stock, but with tubes instead of tubless)
Bottom Line:pretty much, i dont like this helmet for racing. it's ugly, strap failed me and there's cracks all over the place. I raced about 7 races with this helmet, new near the first race. I don't find it very satisfing what so ever. Sometimes when im riding technical sections, the visor slides over my eyes (annoying as hell) and it doesn't feel very strong on my head. But, it's good for commuting, just really really bad for racing and even cross country riding.
