from Bloomington, IN Date Reviewed: October 26, 2004 | | Favoriate Trail: | Nebo Ridge Loop | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Purchased At: | Came w/Haro Escape Frame | | Strengths: | Works sometimes. my bars turn(usually...) | | Weaknesses: | I've had problems with this guy from the start. First I lost a piece(my fault), but WTB was extremely helpful. A few months later, a mechanic was commenting on the stiffness of the headset...fork not turning smoothly. I took the front end apart, and all of the grease, once green, was BLACK and mostly gone. I cleaned the whole thing up, and found a cracked hard plastic "seal?" now the rubber seal has mashed out of alignment, and the whole thing is oozing grease. Just hasn't been a "forget about it" thing like headsets should be. | | Similar Products Used: | FSA ZS, WTB GG, Dia-Compe, Chris King | | Bike Setup: | Very nice hard tail race rig. | | Bottom Line: | Just hasn't been as simple as a headset should be. oozing, funky seals, etc. just don't look good or work well. Overall, I haven't been terribly happy w/WTBs headsets, but their customer service is excellent. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
