from Langley, BC, Canada Date Reviewed: May 12, 2005 | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Not too expensive | | Weaknesses: | Plastic pieces shatter and break. | | Similar Products Used: | FSA Pig DH | | Bike Setup: | 03 Mountain Cycle Rumble frame on a slightly modified 04 Sasquatch parts spec | | Bottom Line: | Don't get it. I hated mine and it sucked. Spend an extra $16 and get the FSA Pig...a proper full-chromo headset with big balls. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | Local bike shop | | Strengths: | None | | Weaknesses: | How can the plastic upper cup stand any stress at all? These broke within 25minutes of instalation, while I was cruising to the DH track. My second set broke within an hour. They are just not tough enough. | | Similar Products Used: | FSA PIG DH Pro | | Bike Setup: | Banshee Morphine, Sherman Slider, DoubleTrack's on DaBomb hubs and Gazza's | | Bottom Line: | Stay clear, even if you don't DH. I would give them 0Chilis if I could. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Calgary Canada Date Reviewed: December 6, 2004 | | Duration Product Used: | More than 3 years | | Purchased At: | Rocky mountain | | Strengths: | This is a easy to set-up headset. It is afoordable to replace. | | Weaknesses: | Could be lighter, could be maintenance free. | | Similar Products Used: | Dia Compe cheapo and a Raceface Realseal | | Bike Setup: | 2000 RMB blizzard, 2002 RMB hammer, 1999 RMB Cardiac | | Bottom Line: | When it comes to headsets, I am very satisfied. I just pick on them a couple times a year and re-grease them. this one's bearings were lof higher grade than other low-end headsets, they don't pit as easily as the Dia compe and the design acomodated a "shim ring" or whatever you call it that holds the headset tight and not floppy like a king or raceface. the steel cups are strong too, which helps. It is not for everyone though, and this goes for me to, I prefer maintenance free setups, like my sealed cartidge BB, wheels, etc. but as it goes, this headset is easy to work with and there is not many parts to lose. for twenty bucks, this is as good as it gets. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$15.00 | | Purchased At: | Routens | | Strengths: | Rather cheap | | Weaknesses: | Top cup made of plastic, ruined after 1hour ride | | Similar Products Used: | various | | Bottom Line: | The top cup has to be changed at the very moment you buy it! How could a small piece of plastic stand the stresses of a headset? Mine become to have play after the 1hr test ride of my new bike... and looking in it, the plastic had simply failed under the bolt head, and the headset was only retained by the stem. Not very fair. Anyway, it is a rather standard piece so you can use any aluminum 1"1/8 top cup, I think (you might have to change the bolt).
Apart of that, the headset seems very convenient for my weekender needs... more news after a few rides. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from B.C. Date Reviewed: July 11, 2004 | | Favoriate Trail: | only met a few I didn't like | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Price Paid: |
$20.00 | | Strengths: | None | | Weaknesses: | Broke the top cup after about 100km so I bought another one thinking it was an anomaly. Nope I didn't even finish my first ride (I continuously checked it for slop and adjusted). The bearing retainer spreads leaving the bearings with too much room to float about and then the cup just breaks. | | Similar Products Used: | various threaded ones over the years | | Bottom Line: | I can't see that these could be used for anything but cruising on the street as I really am just a x-country rider. I am now out the cost of a "good" headset but have none. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$20.00 | | Purchased At: | OEM on a Rocky | | Strengths: | Stock part on Rocky Mountain bicycle. | | Weaknesses: | Wears out extremely fast. Bearings are junk. Weight. Seal and compession ring tend to lock themselves around the steerer tube. | | Similar Products Used: | King, FSA, DiaCompe AHEADSET, Cane Creek, RaceFace, Ritchey Scuzzy's | | Bike Setup: | XC Hardtail Rocky Hammer Race, 80mm travel fork, RaceFace stem | | Bottom Line: | I see tons of these turn to junk after a couple of months. In this price range AHEADSET and FSA are heads and tails above this Logic. Bottom Line is ride it till it gives up then swap it with a better product like a cartridge bearing type headset. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
