    Price Paid: $16.00
    Purchased At:Bisikleta.com
Strengths:Handlebar has a good matte finish and handles most of my riding habits. Good rise also and matches well with my minime stem. A good bar for beginners as price is so reasonable.
    Weaknesses:So far none.
Similar Products Used:Tioga Stem, Powertool stem.
Bike Setup:Specialized Stumpjumper Pro M4, Shimano Alivio shifters and derailleurs, WTB velociraptor 1.95.
Bottom Line:Good for the Bucks, got it for only $16.00 comes free with the stem.

    Favorite Trail:Mix Trails
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $45.00
    Purchased At:Black Mountain Bikes
Strengths:Perfect rise and angle, increased comfort and feeling.
Weaknesses:Matted black finish may not be too durable over time.
Similar Products Used:Bontrager race straight bar.
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher Hardtail, minor mods.
Bottom Line:I was always the rider that resisted riser bars on XC bikes, but after putting these bars on, I sure wished I did it sooner.

Amazing how such a small adjustment (2 in. rise) can totally change the feeling of the bike. I don't know why, but I seem to ride faster and longer with these bars. Maybe because of the increased ride comfort due to the less "hunch down" position with the straight bar.

Nice quality piece, I will probably change to a matching Easton stem when I get some more dough!

    Date Reviewed: March 2, 2004
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $40.00
    Purchased At:Local bike shop
Strengths:Looks good, light and stiff for the price, width and rise is just right.
Weaknesses:Lacks space at the stem area to clamp my bike lights.
    Similar Products Used:None
Bike Setup:Specialized S-works DS, Manitou X-vert R, Truvativ Hussefelt with bash ring, lots of Shimano XT (disc hubs, cassette, rear-d), Hayes disc brakes, Mavic rims, King headset, Azonic Shorty, ODI Lock-on grips, some other stuff
Bottom Line:A good bar for the price I paid. Looks perfect in black. Never had any problems with it for the year or so that I'd been using the bar. It didn't bend when I landed the bike off a 3-foot ledge in a nearby park, but then I only weigh some 140 lbs thereabouts.

I avoided the "slipping grips" problem right from the start by using ODI Lock-on grips and I clamped them on real tight. The only problem now is that the grips slip just a little between the lock rings. That's actually a problem with the grips and not the bar.

The only niggle is that the bar doesn't have quite enough room both sides of the stem clamping area to mount the bike lights level. My lights ended up just slightly tilted. I don't usually use the lights anyway as I ride mostly weekend afternoons and evenings so it didn't really bother me. And for the price I paid, it shouldn't qualify as a problem at all.

All said, it's a good bar and should last a long time.

    Weaknesses:scratches easily?
Similar Products Used:titec hellbent, club roost
Bike Setup:K2 razorback grassroots team edition
Bottom Line:Great bars for the price. I bought the bar/stem combo on pricepoint for $35! too bad they didn't have it in black. Never taken any big drops or anything like that with these bars. But they have held up find with the riding i have done. Great price for a quality name/bar.

4 chilis because they scratch so easily.

    Purchased At:dave hinde racing
Strengths:strong, wide, good looking and durable and fairly light weight(300g). I think they inspire me spiritually.
Weaknesses:I rubbed some anodisation off them as i put my heavy bike lock round em and went down a big bumpy hill but that was my fault.
Similar Products Used:specialized in house riser
Bike Setup:long travel heavy duty hardtail
Bottom Line:I bopught em along with half my bikes other components and took them for granted but come to think of it it is probably the best and most reliable component on my bike!

i was cleaning the bike up and got some water between the grips and bar
it's been 2 weeks and the oury still slips around like hell
guess i'll have to take them off to tape around the bar
other than that, pretty light for the strength

    Price Paid: $30.00
    Purchased At:North west MTB centre
Strengths:Nice and light, look really good on my bike, well made and stiff.
    Value for money
Weaknesses:Grips move (Cured this with brake cleaner and lock wire)
Similar Products Used:Scott stock flat 22" bars and Outland 26" riser which snapped on a 12" drop in.
Bike Setup:Scott vail, Marzocchi, wellgo, Eastern, Kore, STX RC, Selle Italia, Tioga, Mavic rims.
Bottom Line:These bars are great looking and feel great i cut 1/2" off each end of mine as they felt a little long, they are stiff enough to inspire confidence in your ride but not too stiff to be uncomfortable.
Grip problem can be solved with lockwire if you have some lockwire pliers.

    Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At: a Outdoor Adventure show
Strengths:Looks really awesome on my bike, the width is perfect, it's lighter than my old riser and the rise is perfect for my riding style aswell.....oh ya, the price is excellent!
Weaknesses:As everyone else had said I have had issuses with the grips slipping around which can be frustrating when ur out riding sometimes. This can be fixed with hairspray i find.
    Similar Products Used:Hellbent, Answer, Bontragger....
Bike Setup:RaceFace, easton, XTR, Marzocchi, Sun Rims,Hayes(mechanicals) etc...( I tried my best to blend light freeriding2-4 foot drops with a bit of trials and cross country.)
Bottom Line:These bars are very good and once u fix the minor slippage problem these will probably not upset u. I bought them because my other bars where unrepairable and they lokked good and where priceed even better. I have nothing bad to say about them really they r very good. Take a look at easton if ur looking 4 a riser. Keep the rubber side down!!!

Similar Products Used:Just bars that came on my bikes
Bike Setup:Giant Warp DS 3 with Mavic rims and THE fenders and Easton EA 50 handle bars
Bottom Line:The best handle bars this city has in it. Everyone wants them. The price is really good for the quality of them. They are very strong. I weigh 165 and when you drop off of 4 foot cliffs things are going to bend but so far they are really good.

    Favorite Trail:a dirty one
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $35.00
Bottom Line:After purchasing the bars i can now see that your grips will become loosened easly if the bars get wet. A simple remedy i found that worked great was to put a thin layer of electrical tape on the bars right under were you would be placing your grips(Make sure it's nice and smooth with no crease). Spray a little hair spray on the inside of your grips and slide them on. Solid! Dont waste your money on lock downs.

    Favorite Trail:any dirt one
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $45.00
Strengths:Nice rise and good width but not silly wide so you don't make that narrow part of the trail...
Look good in black (Matches all my other black bike parts)
    Light weight sub 300g
Gives great control in all terrains and speeds
Weaknesses:Grips slip round in wet weather due to rough finish on bar
Similar Products Used:Azonic, Club Roost, Amoeba
    Bike Setup:SC Heckler w/ Z1's
Bottom Line:Great bar that is exactly what i want in a riser. Gives lots of control in tight sections. Easton make it so you know it won't break. I really really like it and it's probably the last bar i'll have to buy for the bike.
One niggle is that the rought finish on the bar makes grips not adhere very well in wet conditions so either wire your grips on or buy lock on's. Minor problem really.
Much better value for money than the EA70 and only slightly heavier.
Go buy a EA50 if you're in the market for a new bar.

    Purchased At:Wright Brothers Cyclery-Ohio
Strengths:Great Bend & rise, First bar for me with upswept grip angle.
Seem strong and mid-weight, the bend/width(26")makes the bike feel more nimble somehow, keeps elbows up in ready position.
Weaknesses:None so far, I would probably upgrade to a stronger model of the same brand and bend if these ever fail me. You have to adjust to the width when clearing tight tree openings!
Similar Products Used:Ringle' Uncle Jesse, Profile Tomac tenacious-D, Profile maniac DH w/ crossbar. (Old man alert: Profile Bull horns)- yes the adjustable 4 piece bars from 1990!
Bike Setup:Cannondale F900SX hardtail with 100mm Lefty fork. SRAM Attack shifters and Coda Expert Discs. Thudbuster Seatpost.
Bottom Line:Great bend and feel on the bike, I would buy any bars in the "Monkey Lite" lineup from Easton. Just choose your material and affordability level accordingly.
