Date Reviewed: April 28, 1999
Favoriate Trail:
streets of boston
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
colour (weird orange)
cross-bar
2 rise
Weaknesses:
slippage
Similar Products Used:
shitty straight bar.
Bike Setup:
Hardtail
Bottom Line:This bar is pretty tits.
The rise is good, sweep is money, and everything.
Only concern I have is the crossbar slips sometimes. Like it doesn't stay horizontal. WTF up with that? But no biggie, just give it a little adjust. I do have NO problems with it 'creaking' either.
Don't know if I am too keen on the idea of taking off the crossbar. Maybe if you do Crosscountry it is okay...but for jumping, bouncing, downhilling, and slaloming I really don't want to mess with structural integrity....Besides, reminds me of my Dirtbike with the crossbar 8)
Gets 5 smokestix!

Bottom Line:

These bars rule! The are the perfect sweep, perfect rise and perfect width. They don't creak at all (thanks to a touch of grease where the stem clamps on). I don't use the reinforcement bar because it adds to much weight and I don't think it looks as good either. I use these bars on both the trials bike and the cross country bike. Super stiff, light weight, awesome colours and good price. Without a doubt more than 5 chillies if possible! (good for DH too)

Bottom Line:

i have had this bar for almost the entire season on my gary fisher bigsur. i love it, it's fairly light (not that i care at all), stiff, and wide enough for me. i don't use the reinforcer anymore it creaked a little bit so i took it off, it got annoying. this bar rips i would highly reccommend this bar to either downhillers or xc racers.

Bottom Line:

i went shopping for riser bars cause i heard they can take pressure off you wrists. these where reasonably priced and not to heavy. i put them on and i totally fell in love with them. they work so well when trail riding fast or going down small downhills in texas. they dont work to well when going slow but who goes slow with these bars on?

Bottom Line:

I bought these bars because I was interested in trying out a set of riser bars and the price was right. These bars were considerably cheaper than the other riser bars in my lbs and they work great. I use them for both trials and technical descents and they are great. They did squeak a little but thanx to the grease idea, no probs anymore......

Bottom Line:

I bought these for cross country riding for a more upright riding position and these do the job perfectly. Despite their 450g weight with the reinforcer bar they are still excellent. Super stiff and extra wide. Concerning the complaints about the creaking of the reinforcer, I nipped it in the bud by greasing everything when I installed them. Take it off, grease the bar where the clamps will go, grease the reinforcer where it inserts into the clamps and you have an excellent, creak-free, super-stiff riser bar.

Bottom Line:

My prevous review is all wrong. It turns out once I took off the reinforcer the creaking sound went away. Yes it still scraped the paint away but it sounds 100% better. For $55 it is a good deal. Hey Missy Giove and Myles Rockwell think so!!!!!!!!
