Description:Our Race grip is a high performance grip based on our patented, award winning ergonomic design with an integrated, forged aluminum standard bar end. The bar end can be adjusted independent of the grip for maximum comfort and control. It looks at home on riser enduro handlebars and xc race bikes as well. If you need a bar end this is your grip.

$50.00 | | Purchased At: | Chain Reaction Online | | Strengths: | Build quality and materials. Increased riding comfort. Looks. Packaging allows you to try for size. | | Weaknesses: | Initial adjustments are fiddly. Relatively expensive. Heavier than some other grip options. | | Similar Products Used: | SRAM grips as supplied (Gripshift) | | Bike Setup: | Cannondale Si Adventure 3 Ultra (EU model), SRAM Gripshifts, Headshock Fatty DL, 700c Wheels. | | Bottom Line: | Just over 25 UK pounds delivered from Chainreaction within 18 hours of order placement. I was looking for a solution to the poor grip afforded by the stock SRAM grips which are very small due to the Gripshift system. These Ergons, which are available in Gripshift size, are the answer. I noticed immediate benefits which were totally magnified when I adjusted them properly - as previous reviewers have said, have the allen key handy for the first few rides. Really well made, comfortable and give better hand placement options due to the integrated bar ends. I have relatively small hands though, so check if the ends are worth it if you have bigger ones - you might be better with the Ergons without them. Expensive for grips but worth the money in my opinion. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from the M.V. Date Reviewed: July 1, 2007 | | Favoriate Trail: | that really good one | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Strengths: | immediate positive difference | | Weaknesses: | heavy - i would not recommend for small handed people | | Bike Setup: | c'mon.........you don't care.... | | Bottom Line: | Put them on for first time on group ride in Moab - was just so happy with the large platform it gave my hands. At minimum, these doubled the amount of time I can ride without feeling the numbness creeping in. The "feeling" of control is obviously so subjective - another rider states they didn't like them while hammering down hills cuz they couldn't get wrapped around the grips - my experience has been just the opposite - regular grips felt tiny - these give me so much more control which was evident the first time I hit a big downhill. Comfort and control - probably best for big hands. They work. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$38.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance | | Strengths: | Comfort Eliminated wrist pain | | Weaknesses: | Price, weight | | Similar Products Used: | Grips | | Bike Setup: | Yeti 575 | | Bottom Line: | I took up trials riding recently and bought a trials-specific bike (Simtra ST-1). Within a week my wrists hurt all the time. I was complaining to a friend who has Ergons on his bike and he recommended them. I put them on my trials bike and my wrist problems resolved quickly. So I bought a pair for my xc rig as well.
Extremely comfortable. I have zero complaints. Uphill, the little bar ends give hand position options. Downhill, supports the wrist and gives a lot more stability, comfort, and damping.
I highly recommend them. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Makes me nervous on downhill rides. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$35.00 | | Purchased At: | online | | Strengths: | supreme comfort, adjustability, durability, and multiple hand positions. | | Weaknesses: | none, weight and cost are not a weakness here as they are worth it. | | Similar Products Used: | ergon wp1, stock specialized grips, oury | | Bike Setup: | 05 specialized stumpjumper FSR 100 | | Bottom Line: | bought a pair of the womens WP1 grips for my wife after she commented on wrist pain after longer rides, after taking her grips for a spin i was sold and picked up the mens race versions because i wanted the option of bar ends (the bar ends also protect the rubber on the grips in the event of a crash). i have the unfortunate habit of injuring my wrists when crashing and these grips allow me to finish the ride and get back on the bike faster than with traditional grips. the adjustable angles and additonal support ease the pressure on your wrist, allowing you to ride when injured. all that being said they also provide more control when climbing and decending | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$38.00 | | Purchased At: | Ted's | | Strengths: | Comfort, freedom from numbness and pain, comfort, increase of control, dampening effect, comfort. Quality. The package it comes in could support almost half of my mother-in-law's weight at least. The best after market thing I have ever bought for my bike. | | Weaknesses: | Heavy, I suppose, but I was surprised that some of the twitchyness and vibration of the handlebars was improved because of. Kind of funny looking I guess. | | Similar Products Used: | The pittiful skinnny little condoms which passed as grips when I bought the bike new. | | Bike Setup: | HaroV-3. I am a 56 year old man who rides in order to stay alive a little longer rather than to find an exciting new way to die. So I upgraded to Marzocchi shock, Avid brakes, new girlfriend, new bars and grips. Not the new girlfriend. | | Bottom Line: | Nothing I have ever done to my bike has added as much comfort and control as installing these grips. You will wonder why traditional grips are traditional. I will pass you going uphill. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Hermosa Beach, CA Date Reviewed: July 2, 2006 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | fits hand great, make all claims by glove makers seem weak by comparison to how comfortable these grips are. | | Weaknesses: | Well, don't they only have one clamp bolt on the outside of the grip - translation, don't even think about using them on carbon bars as I did, they cracked well before I got to recommended torque | | Similar Products Used: | OXI, others | | Bike Setup: | Titus with all the (subjective) best. For her, was using Race Face Next carbon bars, now Race Face Alum bars. | | Bottom Line: | These grips feel great, they do add some weight, but that is ok for me. My buddy didn't like the feel too much. I think they make gloves a little more optional from a pure bar comfort perspective. My main grip was the packaging didn't warn me to not use with carbon bars. I used my fancy expensive torque wrench and still I heard the snap of my bars cracking. I e-mailed company and got no response. I liked them enough to get an aluminum bar to replace my carbon, but it would have helped if company would have responded. Sorry, but I think a 3 rating is all they deserve now. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$35.00 | | Purchased At: | in Germany | | Strengths: | Awesome product to get rid of numbness or pain. Very comfortable to ride even a long time. The bar ends are a bit larger then the ones on the MR1. Also they are made of magnesium and are the top of the line product of this series of grips. They feel quite heavy but they make up for it by feel. Will never switch back to anything else. Hard to get in the states, so I had them bring to me by some friends visiting from good old Germany. This is a very popular product over and won multiple design and user Awards. No wonder why! You can't go wrong with these! | | Weaknesses: | Maybe a bit heavy, but who talks about weight when you are 200lbs. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized grips | | Bike Setup: | Custom self build Specialized Epic with Fox F100 Fork, all XT Drive train, Mavic UST Wheels, Chris King Headset, Avid Juicy 5's brakes, Ergo grips, etc. | | Bottom Line: | Like a Chris King Headset, this is the ultimate piece to have on your Bike! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
