$30.00 | | Purchased At: | PricePoint | | Strengths: | The smaller three fingers, as well as the outer part of the hand constructed well. Semi padded back hand. Fit very snuggly for appropriate size, which is a plus. The velcro strap was small and therefore did not protrude. | | Weaknesses: | The outer portion of the thumb (60-70%) was constructed of terry cloth/super thin nylon (literally as thin as pantyhose nylon)with very thin FOAM (very weak foam at that)sandwiched and GLUED between the two. The outer part of the index finger was constructed in the same way. Barely stretching the material caused the inner layer of foam to pull apart and break up. Add the necessary post ride washings to that and you have a glove that is very likely to degrade rapidly on the portion of the hand that holds most of the riders weight. The Fox logo on top of the hand took up space that should have been reserved for more mesh for further ventilation
| | Similar Products Used: | 661,LG's | | Bike Setup: | several bikes | | Bottom Line: | Would have been a very good glove if the terry cloth was minus the foam, and double wrapped then stitched. This would have given the glove, roughly the same thickness but giving it better durability and greater longevity. On a note of personal opinion, the glove would have also scored higher marks if it had a short thumb, thereby giving the fit more of a consistent feel (something of which many full finger gloves lack). | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$25.00 | | Purchased At: | REI.com | | Strengths: | Very well ventilated, comfortable, seems to be well made and more durable than other reviews led me to believe. | | Weaknesses: | Full thumb was too short for my hands. | | Similar Products Used: | Schwinn, Specialized | | Bike Setup: | 2005 Specialized Stumperjumper Disc, ODI Rogues, WTB Laser V Stealth. | | Bottom Line: | The only negative thing I can say about these gloves is that for MY hands, the full thumb was too short. Fit my buddies' hands just fine though, so this is a personal thing. As soon as I cut the tip of the thumb off and re-sewed to prevent fraying, the glove fit like.... well a glove! My hands don't get hot in these at all, and I have no worries about them not lasting for some time to come. Not a lot of padding in the palm, but that's the way I like it. Even when they get wet, still fit and feel great. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$17.00 | | Purchased At: | REI | | Strengths: | Look sweeeeeet. Full thumb so I can get the sweat out of the corners of my eyes before it stings. | | Weaknesses: | No padding, fraying stitching after no time in the saddle. Take a long time to dry. Need more mesh on the back. | | Similar Products Used: | REI Lifeline. | | Bike Setup: | Trek 4500, WTB Rocket V saddle, serfas grips, shimano M520 pedals (well, as soon as REI puts them on) | | Bottom Line: | They are far better looking than anything else on the market, but the quality is not the best. I wouldn't wear them for longer rides. Also, I wish they had padding of some sort. They DO run small. I could barely fit a large. And I have medium hands. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$27.00 | | Purchased At: | Streits Cyclery | | Strengths: | Great fit. I've read other rider's comments about the "stitching" being poor quality. I can honestly say after two years of riding, and numerous crashes these gloves are still in great shape. I'll be buying another set of gloves soon (girlfriend), I'll be buying another pair of these. I like the full coverage on the thumb also. Overall a really nice product. | | Weaknesses: | If any I would say these gloves are approx $5-$10 mor expensive than most of the other gloves my LBS carries. I guess you get what you pay for though. I'd rater be out $30 for a pair of these gloves than spend $15-$20 on several pair of the other brands (Pearl). | | Similar Products Used: | Fox, Nashbar, Pearl, Cannondale | | Bike Setup: | Schwinn Homegrown, Easton,King, Shimano XT-XTR, Mavic 517's 22lbs overall. | | Bottom Line: | These gloves rock. They are very comfortable, and in my opinion quite durable (2 years of use). I will be a Fox customer for the rest of my riding days. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$15.00 | | Purchased At: | price point | | Strengths: | Look way cool, sturdy, comfortable, terry cloth to wipe away the sweat that pours out of my Bell Rubicon... | | Weaknesses: | Finger stitching starts to unravel after a year or so. | | Similar Products Used: | none | | Bike Setup: | Fisher Big Sur, Aerospoke, Thudbuster, XTR/XT, Avid | | Bottom Line: | Great gloves. Remind me of my BMX days - very tough looking and the padding on the palm saved my hands several times (I use them for rollerblading as well and have gone down a few times on the asphalt with no marks or even scuffs on the pads). Gone through crashes on the trail with no marks - I feel safe in these things. Only problem is the stitching that gets alittle unraveled - but just cut off the strings and looks like new. You do have to wash them after a while or they get funky. When I washed my Gray ones, they got this slight purple hue, but no big deal. I love em. $8.00 | | Purchased At: | Pricepoint.com | | Strengths: | These have all the features I was looking for in a glove. Decent protection, reinforced palm with padding in the critical areas, protection from running into branches, and a terrycloth area to wipe sweat. They also look good, not too flashy like a lot of the gloves on the market these days. | | Weaknesses: | Sizes run very small (I needed to go up 2 sizes to get a pair that fit a little on the looser side), difficult to take on and off when wet or sweaty, honestly don't look like they'll last more than 2 seasons, tops. | | Similar Products Used: | Sinisalo, Thor, Fox, JT motocross gloves. | | Bottom Line: | Great glove for the price I paid.......they are lightweight, offer decent protection, don't bunch up or create any 'typical' glove problems..........don't know if I'd pay the full $30 for 'em though? $33.00 | | Purchased At: | No name bike shop | | Strengths: | I need a three quarter finger glove and I like fox. Full fingered gloves offer better protection but hotter. I am a road cyclist using dropped bars. | | Weaknesses: | Termination of the fingers ends and stitching. I don't do trails and little chance of hitting branches or fall. | | Similar Products Used: | Olympic fingerless genuine leather gloves for weight lifting | | Bike Setup: | Viner frame road bike with Shimano 600 parts. Michelin axial carbon tires on araya rims. Purely road. | | Bottom Line: | Use with care. Avoid the velcro pulling on the lycra finger gussets. The fox sidewinders (which I had gone through three pairs) are worse in this respect. Fingerless better in handling the velcro closure and give feel to brakes and shifting. Too many seams around that area as well. -Protection: In a forest with things such as _trees_, riding is very painful as your knuckles begin bleeding after contact with branches. -Price!!! | | Bottom Line: | When bying these, I thought that price might bring quality but now my thumbs are sticking out from the soft fabric on that part of the glove. Not very nice. And yes, they are the right size for me. I'll definitely go for long-fingered gloves next time around, these offer a minimal amount of protection against branches in the sort of dense forests in this part of the world. I'll probably also try another brand because if Fox uses fabrics this flimsy I don't want to take the risk of wasting more money. If you don't have to fight trees when riding then you'll appreciate the short fingers. They're a lot cooler on your hands than full-length gloves. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Narashino, Chiba, Japan (Native New Yorker) Date Reviewed: December 2, 2001 | | Favoriate Trail: | "What trail?" | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Purchased At: | Seo Cycle (pro shop), LalaPort shopping mall at Tokyo Bay | | Strengths: | Strengths? Yes, exactly, these gloves have strengths like a pair of very expensive all leather work gloves. They break in like a pair of Levi's. This is first class stuff, extremely durable, and reminicent of other great, rough and tumble, enduring American products, such as Zippo lighters and Craftsman toolsets. | | Weaknesses: | Like just about everyone else in this forum says, when they break-in, they get extremely loose and it would be great if FOX had that printed on the label--to make sure and buy a tight fit. I've never seen any other glove loosen up like that; on the other hand, the way they break-in (like a leather baseball glove) is what makes them so good. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized Body Geometrics--or something like that--and Fox Longhorns. | | Bike Setup: | 1999 Trek Cro-Moly, race geometry frame with race-level shimano parts, Mavic wheels--etc . . . Frankenbike. | | Bottom Line: | What makes these gloves feel and wear so well is that the palm is extremely well constructed of leather without too much fancy, high-tech padding. On the other hand, like many other people, I had problems with my hands going numb on even moderately long rides of less than 10 miles and couldn't take it anymore, so I switched to Specialized Body Geometry gloves--which I'm not entirely happy with either because they're really designed for road (drop) handlebars. Fox would do well to increase the padding on this glove, using leather instead of foam or whatever that crap is they put in other gloves. I think just one more layer of leather protecting the meatier areas of the palms would do the trick.
In the end, these are great gloves if you're not riding for hours at a time, and especially if you need something for really rough conditions. Despite the high quality and durability, I could only really recommend these gloves to weekend warriors. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
