Favoriate Trail:glentress scotland
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $2000.00
Purchased At:glentress shop
Strengths:Good tough frame, very efficient peddaling very little bob! gr8 cranks and gears and a relyable rear shock. Also the hayes 9 brakes are amazing i prefer them to hope moto m6!
Weaknesses:poor wheel set, the rims got bent very quickly and there are alot of bearings right where it gets mucky (this makes for tiresom slow cleaning! otherwise all good!!
Similar Products Used:santa cruz v10 (too heavy), kona stinky (generally rubbish)
Bike Setup:i have upgraded the forks to boxxers for more hardcore dh use, and got a direct mount sunline stem to go with them, otherwise all stock, i plan on getting some new wheels soon.
Bottom Line:overall this is a good, solid, reliable bike that i hope will last me for a good many years to come. its got some superb plush suspension that has enough travel for some pretty hardcore dh stuff but is still ok for hitting the occasional trail.i would reccomend this bike for any first time downhillers or any experienced downhill riders looking for a lighter rig to build on.

Favoriate Trail:palos / bullfrog
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1300.00
Purchased At:richards bicycles
Strengths:strong frame, nice set of components for price
Weaknesses:a little tall when standing over bike, heard the front and rear shocks are weak (havent noticed), seat is awful, very hard
Similar Products Used:none, came from a hardtail schwinn mesa
Bike Setup:stock, might replace shocks,
Bottom Line:love the bike! fit into budget and it definitely can handle a lenghty ride to the trails. shocks can handle everything i have thrown at it so far.

i would recommend to anyone looking for an entry bike into freeride bike, go to richards bikes if around illinois, they rock!

Favoriate Trail:clementine loop, ca
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1200.00
Purchased At:online
Strengths:Efficient pedaling, decent component specs
Weaknesses:Fork is weak
Similar Products Used:Giant AC1, Schwinn Straight 8
Bike Setup:Jr T, DT Swiss wheels, 8 speed drive train
Bottom Line:The bike feels lighter than 38 lbs. I did part it out and build it up to my preference and it now is about 35 lbs. Definitely pedals like a bike that's lighter and has less travel but soaks up anything you throw at it. Frame seems pretty sturdy. The fork had to go and i put a 170 mm travel Jr T on the front. Much better. Definitely a fun bike. Glad I gave the goose a try but then again, I also have a GT ID5 with a similar suspension design and I love that too. I had my doubts considering I used to ride frames that cost almost as much as this entire bike did but so far so good. The fox DHX 3.0 is a bit weak though. Heard the DHX 5.0 is much better but I might put a Vanilla RC propedal on there to see if this helps with the end of stroke ride quality.

Similar Products Used:Giant Ac Team- not enough travel
Bike Setup:stock apart from the 66rcs and a set of renthal fat bars(love these reminds me of my mx bike)
Bottom Line:this is a good allround bike although a new set of forks may be required after a year or two. really good deal tho

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1800.00
Purchased At:Sunrift Adventures
Strengths:Price
Components
Suspension Setup
Efficient Going Up or Down
Weaknesses:SDG Saddle
Fork
IBeam Saddle/Seatpost
Similar Products Used:Trek Session
Yeti ASX
Cannondale Gemini
Bike Setup:stock except heavier springs and WTB seat, titec seatpost
future: titec regular pyro seatpost, Z1, 66 or some kind of fork
Bottom Line:If your butt is going to be spending the same amount of time on the seat and a lift don't worry about switching to something comfortable. But for the rest of us it is the first thing you need to do. I bought a WTB seat before I had the bike. One catch though, this will also mean that you need to purchase a seatpost too. Also budget in the next year to replace the fork.
Now for the good stuff! Cost a 1,000.00 less than the Trek Session with the same components! Great overall component specs. Lots of travel, but doesn't ride like a regular squishy. A review from a magazine best described the ideal rider for this bike, a person wanting to explore hucking and freeriding who came from the Xcountry or trail bike scene. I love it, it's the best bang for the buck.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:My friend
Strengths:frame seems really strong. Brakes good, rims good, hussefelt stuff is solid, the tires are really nice (this is on the '06) fork seems better than I thought. Pretty much, the spec is amazing for the price. It also looks way nicer in person than in pictures
Weaknesses:The fork is a little small for this bike, I'll probably replace it with a 66 eventually. Also, the head angle is maybe a degree steeper than I would ideally want. Other than that, nothing so far!
Similar Products Used:Big hit, stinky, session 7, vp free, bullit, coiler, giant ac, etc.
Bike Setup:totally stock for now
Bottom Line:I was amazed when I rode this bike for the first time. It feels like a burly big-hit bike, and is plenty plush, but it pedals really well. It feels sort of like a small vpfree.
I took it off of a couple mid-sized drops/jumps, and it was rock-solid, and felt like it could easily go way bigger. That said, it also doesn't feel like a pig. It also climbed really well for a 38?lb bike.
The only things that I noticed that some people might not like is that the cockpit is pretty short, and the bike feels pretty tall. Also, the sizes are big, my medium was bigger than a Kona large.

Overall, really awesome budget freeride bike that can still be pedalled some

Strengths:Frame with the new FreeDrive.Shox and forks work very well.Hayes 8's.Rims are strong.Everything you get for the money is unbeatable.
Weaknesses:The seat is a little hard and I ride 2 times a day everyday.
Similar Products Used:Lots of bikes but none with this much travel.
Bike Setup:I put lock on grips, change tyres bepending on what im riding.
Bottom Line:Anyone that knocks Mongoose has rocks in there head.Over the last 10 years they have made good bikes and now they are better than ever.I have rode this bike up a hour and a half up hill fire road and it was not fast but able. What goes up flys down!Jumps, drops switch backs everything fast and stable.
The free drive system works.Put and crap shox on it still wont "bob'.
If you wan't a bike to take the tough stuff and still go up hill you can't get better.Let alone for the price.Get one!!!!!

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $2000.00
Purchased At:"rosen-meents"
Strengths:good frame/parts/wheels/rear shock- osem look- the look soooo goooodddd!!!
Weaknesses:i think thaht the fork will die on me soon ,the pedals suck,
Similar Products Used:ruckus, dbr xr6
Bike Setup:didnt change much- changed the pedals to 545 and the disc pads to kool stops.
Bottom Line:i got this bike after sitting on my butt for like 6 months .
i am truly surprised by the climbing ability you get from this bike altghu they are roundly 17 kg ( 38 p)the rock!!
since im a bit heavy ( 200 p) i think im gonna have to change the stock spring that comes on the splice .
otherwise - i really like this bike - you get for a good price some "bad" parts that seems like the gonna live a long time with the minor abuse i give them ..
hmm- o.k no more crap- the bike comes well stocked with almost nothing you can cahnge( just the fork - say to a doubla clamped one )
recommend it to my friends any day !!
