Description:Eyewear for the vision that defeated impossibility. Created for Lance Armstrong, this unique Pro M Frame® combines the POLARIC ELLIPSOID™ geometry of our Hybrid® lens shape with Ice Iridium. for tuned contrast and reduced glare. The frame is embellished with blue Unobtainium® earsocks and the home pride of a Texas flag icon. For the hingeless O Matter® backbone, we chose FMJ 5.56 - a metallic finish for an iron will. A laser-etched signature authenticates this special edition.

Date Reviewed: April 24, 2007
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $90.00
Purchased At:store
Strengths:light, air vents, attractive
Weaknesses:light cheap feeling as with most Oakley products, lenses easily scratched, the Lance signature is actually distracting on the lens peripheral vision, high cost for what you can buy elsewhere at third to half the price
Similar Products Used:Carrera, Nike V Carbon, Serengeti, Ray Ban, etc.
Bike Setup:several, all carbon, including a Trek STP 400, a Giant MCM Limited, and a Giant MCM Team
Bottom Line:Don't waste your money on these glasses--you are paying $100 for the Oakley name, $50 for Lance's name, and the rest for the plastic frames and lens. You would do much better with any number of reasonable choices, depending on the lighting needs for your riding. Oakley (like ski-clothing maker Spyder) could provide the same product for $35 and sell it in huge quantities--instead, they take the opposite course--price it high, and hope suckers will take the bait--many do. For my money I prefer The Nike V Carbons over everything else--at about a third the price of the Lance Armstrong Oakley, and the Nikes come with two lenses and a hard case, right out of the box.

Favoriate Trail:Marathon Runner
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $165.00
Purchased At:ebay.com
Strengths:Very light, hold is superior. Very tough finish on lenses. Fantastic in very sunny or cloudy conditions, even at dusk.
Weaknesses:No weaknesses a little Pricey.
Similar Products Used:Smith, Bolle, Killer Loops
Bottom Line:I've been using Oakleys for about 10 years, I've tried a few other brands but I've always come back to Oakleys for training shades. Nothing seems to fit and hold like the M frames. These maybe Oakleys best sunglasses ever. Weather you train or not these are a great buy even though they are a bit pricey. The look and fit can't be beat. I'll be buying a second pair for backup.
