      Duration Product Used: 1 Year
      Price Paid: $30
      Purchased At: GroundZero.co.nz & Webcyclery.com
Strengths: Beefy, round, nice basic finish
      Weaknesses: Maybe too beefy?
      Similar Products Tried: Spot SS
Bike Setup: Used w/ Rohloff Speedhub
Bottom Line: Probably a little overbuilt for my XC needs, Black Spire DH rings are great because the come in so many sizes & BCD patterns and are all in the "normal range" of sizes required by the Rohloff Speedhub.

They're fat suckers, gotta be 3 or 4mm thick at the mounting position, but they're stiff as heck and wear well. Even the black anodization stands up pretty well as the miles are piled on.

I've got two on two different bikes, both 40T, one a 5-bolt compact and the other a 4-bolt. They're both round — no hot spots apparent on the SS-like setups.

If you're not too gram conscious and in a bind for the right size DH/SS ring, there's a good chance Black Spire hase the size you need.
