Description:TA chainring

Submitted by Jens Jacob Iversen a Weekend Warrior from Århus, Denmark
Date Reviewed: November 5, 2002
Favoriate Trail:Idalp
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Lasts long, no chainsuck, avalible in all sizes.
Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:Strongligth, suntour.
Bike Setup:CUBE team litening, sram 9.0, Magura Louise front, HS silver back, TIME pedals, Raceface Turbine LP, TA Specialites chainrings, ritchey seatpost and stem. No shimano.
Bottom Line:I often ride places with a lot of sand so it is incredible hard conditions for chain, chainrings and cassette. I belive it has about the same strenghs as other good rings but the profile with low teeth is very good in mud and sand. When it comes to shifting it shifts. I do not care about silky-smooth shifting like you get on shimano stuff. It just has to work. Try it...

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:Bikeshop Amersfoort
Strengths:Cheap, light and made of high quality Aluminium.
Weaknesses:Bad shifting when shifting under load, it doesn't shift at all. By far not as smooth as the original XT chainring or as blackspire.
Similar Products Used:Shimano XT, Blackspire
Bike Setup:Cannondale Jekyll 900 SL 2001. All shimano XT setup
Bottom Line:Fairly good chainrings for a cvevery low price. But dont expect smooth shifting

Submitted by Darkman a Cross Country Rider from Ghent, Belgium
Date Reviewed: August 28, 2002
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $30.00
Strengths:It lasts forever. It's still not worn out after about 4000 miles ! I change the chain regularly though. It's also a stiff chainring, with average weight. It comes in different sets of colors (that last).
Weaknesses:Shifting isn't 100% fluid, when shifting to the big ring (32 to 44)
Similar Products Used:Coda
Bike Setup:Cannondale F700 with XT and SRAM
Bottom Line:A good product for a small price. It lasts long, but the shifting could be better if you're a racer.
