from milwaukee Date Reviewed: November 1, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | uh... oh yeah, it was really cheap. | | Weaknesses: | everything other than price | | Bottom Line: | i bought it 'cause it was in stock at my lbs. had to buy a new one a few months later. bought a shimano this time(my strong-arm crank doesn't deserve better), the same one that i have on my '94 trek with about 10000 miles on it. the teeth look like pins but it still works flawlessly. the new one shifts MUCH better than the sugino too. these are real pieces, don't buy them. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I replaced my whole drivetrain with a new set and the big ring bent after going over one teeny little log. These things might as well be plastic. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Christchurch, New Zealand Date Reviewed: January 8, 2000 | | Favoriate Trail: | anything htat is technical | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | Nothing | | Weaknesses: | Very weak construction. They bend. Teeth break and bend too easy. Caused chain suck everytime. | | Similar Products Used: | 8 speed LX and Raceface | | Bike Setup: | Specialized Stumpjumer Comp 99 | | Bottom Line: | In one week I had bent to big ring and knocked 2 teeth off. The middle ring caused chain suck from day one and I just kept bending the teeth on these rings. Caused a broken chain in 2 races. Crap Crap Crap | Overall Rating: |

And to be fair, the 4-arm spider wasn't helping any. | Overall Rating: |

from Ojai, CA Date Reviewed: October 15, 1999 | | Favoriate Trail: | Sisar Canyon | | Duration Product Used: | less than 1 month | | Strengths: | That is the weakness | | Weaknesses: | The strength | | Similar Products Used: | specialized rings | | Bike Setup: | FSR Comp | | Bottom Line: | The outer Sugino CXP ring bent after 2-weeks of normal riding and occasional contact with objects ( ie rocks). The alloy is way to soft in my opinion. It just doesn't hold up. The middle ring, on the other hand, is heavy steel, and doesn't need to be as strong as the outer ring anyway, since it will never kiss a rock. Replace them when you can, except the inner ring, that one's OK. | Overall Rating: |
