from hyannis,Ma,USA Date Reviewed: May 2, 2004 | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | looks good and 29t 2x9 nice set up. | | Weaknesses: | I believe there's a defect with this chainring or bike setup is critical.readbelow. | | Similar Products Used: | c-dale expert | | Bike Setup: | f3000sl and scalpel 2000 | | Bottom Line: | this 29t chainring came with my scalpel and it was ok for about a month then started to skip.very odd to skip up front.no problem.maybe it was worn. no. here's why. I buy a brand new one 2yrs later, been using the black expert and had no problems, and put it on my HT with new shimano chain and cassette.first ride and powering up a hill with mild bumps and it skips big time.I turn around and put on new Sram pc69 chain. start riding and skips again.turn around and put on my old ring and file it and works fine for 2 hour ride. 2 weeks later I try it on my scalpel with brand new drivetrain part and the same skipping problem occurs. I have no explanation for this skipping problem. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$60.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | shifts well, looks good, teeth have survived | | Weaknesses: | gotta order from LBS. can't just type an order and have them arrive in 2 days | | Similar Products Used: | shimano, campy on road | | Bike Setup: | scalpel with x/o and 2x9 coda cranks, dura ace bb, connex chain | | Bottom Line: | coda products are hit or miss it seems... these rings have bent on rocks, i just took the vice grips to them and basically trued the ring. i have only experienced chain suck in the muddiest conditions. the 29 and 44 rings i would buy again (not a big selection on the 29, but, luckily i won't need one). this coda product is a hit. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
