    Date Reviewed: February 8, 2008
    Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:basically none, it just doesn't do what it was designed to do.
    Weaknesses:-extremely high friction
    -bends easily
    -chain falls off repeatedly
Bottom Line:I've never given a product 1 out of 5 before but this is just ridiculous... The crap piece of plastic up on the top always rubbed somewhere and bent so i took it off. The wheel at the bottom has got far too much play => it was not straight => the whole drivetrain had noticable friction AND once i took the whole chainguide off, the chain has basically always stayed in place. with it on do a bunny hop => chain is off
===> this product is no good. In fact: its a disgrace.

Strengths:No more worrying about your front chain coming off the sprocket, looks great, dead silent.
Weaknesses:The bottom spool gets loose and a bit wobbly over time, but it's not a serious issue.
Bike Setup:2004 Specialized Big Hit with a Marzocchi Bomber fork, an X-Fusion Glyder rear shock, and Hayes 8" disc brakes.
Bottom Line:A great chain guide for not too much.

Strengths:the lower roller never had any problems keeps the chain tight, it indure abuse and its simple
Weaknesses:the chaine guide itself, its just plain crap it keeps getting loose, it dosent hold the chain very well unless u spend a while adjusting it but as soon as as u ride in rough terrain its gets loose and the chaine falls off so if ur sprinting its gonna hurt and dont even think about putting a bashgard because you have to take off the side of thye chaine guide and if u do that u might as well take it off.
Similar Products Used:e-13 LG1 and STS the best chaine guides i have ever seen!
Bike Setup:o6 big hit stock except for a few things here and there
Bottom Line:if u are just looking for the lower part then go and buy it it dosent get much better than that but if u need the whole thing or just the chainbox then go look somewhere else like mrp or e-13

    Favorite Trail:Bergamo
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $70.00
Strengths:Works very very well, sets up perfectly if you just follow the directions. Light in weight, very well built, adjustable for any chainline/chainring size between like 32 / 44t. Great flexibility, fits pretty much any frame configuration.
Team version with the sealed bearing jockey wheel has the lowest resistance of any chain device I have used so far, you really don't know it's there when you're pedaling, however the chain NEVER comes off.
Cheap - about half the price of MRP or E13, and works at least as well, if not better.. won't go back to either of those again.
Weaknesses:None, does exactly what it is supposed to.
Similar Products Used:MRP, E13, Mr Dirt Gizmo
Bike Setup:Tomac Moah, Marz 888 RC2X, Sun Modo wheels, RF cranks and bottom bracket, etc.etc
Bottom Line:It's a great product. Be sure you get the team version which uses a high quality sealed bearing on the jockey wheel.
I honestly don't know how some of these people are saying it's hard to set up. If you follow the directions exactly (not rocket science BTW), it sets up correctly the first time. Just use Loc-Tite on the bolts, and it's going to run trouble free.
Great set and forget chain guide. I haven't had to touch it since I installed. takes maybe 20 mins to set up properly if you take your time and double check everything. No complaints at all.

    Strengths:came with the bike/cheap
    cheap and it works.
Weaknesses:If I set it wrong the chain eats the plastic upper part.
you have to "mod" it to fit a rockring
makes horrific noise when the lower wheel is not lubricated, or the chainline is not about dead center.
    Similar Products Used:none so far
Bike Setup:specialized bighit with 203 travis
Bottom Line:ok, this is my introduction to the world of chain guides. The chain has been on so far. took some time to set it right. no huge problems yet, so a new mrp/e13/blackspire is not on the shopping list.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $130.00
    Purchased At:melbourne bike shop
Strengths:keeps the chain on as they are spose to,if set up good
Weaknesses:lots of fiddling to get it set up,smallest chain ring you can run is 34t, anything smaller you need to start modding it.makes pedalling bit more of an effort.
    Similar Products Used:mrp- e-thirteen
Bike Setup:07 kona hardtail, boxxer rides, classic rolls saddle with sealed bearings thru out.
Bottom Line:if you can afford to pay a few hours layber to the local bike shop to set it up go for it,if not then you need alot of patience or hopefully you fluke it, cant run any smaller chain ring than 34t with it on, noisy unless you get the sealed team version, honestly i spent hours getting it lined up,used it for two days and took it off again, rather have a tight chain and custom a front derailluer with a bash plate, does a better job, more quiet and can run any size chain ring i want. having said all that this is still better than some chain guides!!!!!!1

Strengths:Never drops. Only happend once during a hard crash. Doesnt weigh a ton.
Weaknesses:You have to get special screws for your bashring. Looks Truvativ (sorry guys). Takes some time to set up.
Similar Products Used:Shaman FR, hard to compare...
Bike Setup:Norco A-line, Truvativ chainring, XT chain,
Bottom Line:This think works, works and works, no matter how hard it might be to get it set up. Once done it holds well. I will never spend 3 times as much for a fancy e13 or MRP. Just to look more fancy...

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $85.00
    Purchased At:lbs
Strengths:Its light, effective, not amazingly tricky to set up and keeps your chain on 100% of the time. You CAN run as big of a chainring or as small as you want unless you plan on breaking 120km/h or are a dedicated trials rider.
Weaknesses:sure its not tricky to set up, but it takes FOREVER to dial it in with 3 piece cranks, because you have to get the chainring EXACTLY 1 mm away from the inside of the box to get it to work right. Truvativ claims you can run up to a 46 tooth chainring on it, yet the roller is only adjustable to a 36 tooth bashguard
Similar Products Used:envy chaingang, mrp system 1
Bike Setup:norco 4by with super t, 24/26 wheels, single ring up front and 8 speed rear.
Bottom Line:There are a lot of things you can do to make this chainguide work for you, no matter what the style. What I did was take off the outer side of the "box" and snug it up to my chain as close as possible without it rubbing. Doing this allows you to run a bash plate, and the bash replaces the outer side of the box. So far my chain hasnt rubbed or fallen off once, and it gives you confidence knowing you wont drop chains at all. The downside is, (this is what leads me to believe it wasnt designed to work with bashguards) the adjustable roller WILL adjust to fit a 46 tooth chainRING, but not a bashguard. It will get in the way of anything bigger than a 36 bash, and stop working altogether. Another fault is that the "roller" doesnt rotate. It has a bushing design that's much too stiff for a chainguide roller and it absolutely refuses to move under the stresses of the chain. it WILL rotate, just not easily enough. This problem is easily solved by replacing the roller with one from an mrp. Overall, this is an excellent dh/fr guide that will not drop a chain, but it offers some challenges in setting up that some unexperienced mechanics will whimper at. Awesome upper design, poor/fair lower design. I will never run another guide.

Strengths:the chain has only come off my bike once. it tensions the chain a little, so it isnt bouncing around all the time.
Weaknesses:really niosy. and it also rubs against your chain, makeing more of an effort to pedal
    Similar Products Used:none really
    Bike Setup:2004 P.2
Bottom Line:i'm not sure I would reccommend it. get the hussefelt or something. because this thing is just really noisy and clunky. never givin me any problems though.

Weaknesses:So the rockring is nosy but if i put there a teflon from finish line its quiet but it's when i put it on the chain scrabs the one side of the top pice next today my chain fell down and in this tipe of chain guides with a chamber its hard to put it back (chain)
