Strengths:
Keeps shifting well and has been pain free over 18 mths of long weekend trail rides.
Weaknesses:
I was alternating two of these chains and in race conditions I kept snapping them. Twice each. Just don't seem durable under trying conditions.
Bottom Line:
It's great until you really put the power on, then it has a tendency to snap!

Strengths:
Corrosion resistant, easy to open up and clean, fairly light.
Weaknesses:
Expensive compared to other makes, chain snapped during a tech ride (not at the Power Link though).

It is a nice chain even though it broke on me. But then I had similar experience with Shimano's chains too. I rate 3 chilis on it for durability (value)and 4 chilis on overall as it is one of the nicer chains around.

This chain has provided good reliable service over the last six months of dealing with riding in abrasive sand and dealing with a first time rider doing some pretty scary shifts. The chain is now showing minimal wear so I have shifted it onto a bike I use for wind training. Have just bought a new Shimano CN-7701 (XTR chain) which appears to shift slightly better - but then I am comparing a new chain with one that has had six months wear and tear.

Bottom Line:
It'll probably snap at the powerlink if you weigh more than a small child (a slim one). Mine went after about 2 months of XC riding on a new XT chainset that was cleaned after every ride. I'd had a stock Shimano jobbie on for over a year of heavy XC abuse in all conditions without any problems. Buy a normal chain, and put up with cleaning it on your bike.
