      FavoriteTrail: Waldo Lake
      Duration Product Used: 1 Year
Strengths: Shifts great and very durable.
Weaknesses: A little heavier than XTR.
      Similar Products Tried: Sram, shimano.
Bike Setup: Bianchi Super Grizzily with Spinner fork; Sunrace/XTR drivetrain; Magura brakes; SDG I-beam seat/post, Syntace bar/stem; Kenda tires; Crank Bros pedals.
Bottom Line: Great alternative to the status quo. Very durable and the ti nitride coating looks cool, too! Just replace your chains and these things wear like--well, steel.

      FavoriteTrail: South Mountains AZ
      Duration Product Used: 1 Year
      Purchased At: Free From Sunrace
Strengths: Cheaper than shimano & sram. Lasted (still going) longer than xt and any sram. Shifts well. Durability is excellent.
Weaknesses: Hard to find. Not many bike shops know how to get the product. I got mine by calling direct.
Similar Products Tried: Shimano XTR, XT, DX, LX, Sram, Suntour (back in the day)
Bike Setup: Secialized Stumpjumper and Epic with Thomson stem and post, XT Cranks (integrated), XTR ft & rr drlrs, Sram shifters, XT Brake levers, XT Hubs, Mavic X3.1 rims, Sram Chain. Dolomite Ti seat. Both bikes set up same
Bottom Line: I don't know if SunRace steped up their quality for 2004 but I had gone through 4 XT cassettes, chains, and chainrings between Dec 2003 and March 2004. I am a Clydesdale rider (a huge clydesdale rider at 270#) who races which means I ride the crap out of my gear. I was tired of dropping $220.00 every 3 to four weeks to keep riding. I made a few calls to SunRace about their products and bigger fellas. They sent me two different cassettes. I put one on each of my bikes back in March and they are still on there. Running, Shifting, and racing just fine. I have well over 500 miles on each. We're talking racing, road trips, and training. I have replaced my chainrings and chain at least twice and still haven't had to replace the cassette. BOTTOM LINE....THESE THINGS ROCK. I was supposed to gie SunRace a write up and send the cassettes back to them when they wore out but they are still kicking. I don't know if things have changed at SunRace but anyone who swore them off should give them another try.

FavoriteTrail: Samuel Justus, Allegheny, and Oil Creek Trails
      Duration Product Used: 6 months
      Price Paid: $18
      Purchased At: Bike Parts USA
Strengths: Shifts decently, despite what these know-it-alls who "really know how to adjust" their derailleurs say. Cheap. Nice finish.
Weaknesses: A tad heavy as far as cassettes go. Stigma from boobs that post bad stuff about it on MTBR.com when they are actually as clueless as they come
Similar Products Tried: Shimano 600 Ultegra, Deore, Suntour (Shimano-spaced), Performance, and Nashbar. Sachs, Suntour, Falcon, Sunrace, Shimano freewheels.
Bike Setup: Sunrace RDM-60 rear mech and Sunrace M30 twisters with Taya chain, Scott-Pederson SE brakes, Suntour fork, Wellgo clipless peds, Acera X front mech Specialized Son-of-a-Strongarm crank with Avitar and LX rings (bike 1), Shimano Deore full-kit w/disks, Zoom Gordo 650 double crown fork, Titec goodies (Bike 2), Sachs/SRAM Plasma rear mech, Judy TT fork, Shimano Exage M350 Trail front mech and crank with Syncros, LX and Specialized rings, KMC Chain (bike 3) XT rear mech, Deore front, Truvativ 5D crank with Syncros, LX, and steel Truvativ inner rings, Taya chain, wellgo peds, Titec goodies, Gripshift MRX.
Bottom Line: Listen, I have used all manner of stuff. These things shift just swell, especially for the price. I know those "If it ain't XTR it ain't squat" babies will look down their nose at you....until you catch them riding their NON-IMAGINARY bike equipped with Altus....which they bought at Walmart. Not everyone needs XTR...or XT for that matter. Sunrace cassettes are plenty tough...the cogs resist bending better than LX. So take that.

Strengths: Chrome plating on cogs, shifts very well for me, good price. I bought two for two different recumbents,, works fine on both.
Weaknesses: None that I know of, except whats listed on this board.
Similar Products Tried: Shimano suntour sram
Bike Setup: Burley Limbo, pretty stock except for some aero addons. and a big chainring. and continental slicks.
Bottom Line: So far so good.!! My use is not real hard riding at all,,but I do shift under load,,and it works great for me so far. Based on what you z are saying though,,I am going to start inspecting it regularly.

      Duration Product Used: 3 months
Strengths: could be used as a fancy paperweight
      Weaknesses: that it exists
Bottom Line: it sucks, i only got about 120 kms out of this before it had to be replaced under warranty. The bike shop replaced it with a shimano hg cluster on so will see how that goes.
The bike shop guy said these clusters are pretty varied in their quality, as they have less stringint Qualty control than other manufacturers, that is why they are cheap and fail more often than other brands.

Weaknesses: Tooth Broke after 100 miles
      Similar Products Tried: Shimano XT
Bike Setup: As Marin intended before but now better Mavics, XT hubs and XT Casette
Bottom Line: Shamefully broke a tooth during some roadwork! XT seems much more durable - silkier gearchange too. The best thing about this product is that it taught me you get what you pay for, and it gave me an excuse with the other half as to why I needed to upgrade to XT.

Strengths: It makes my back wheel go round and round
      Weaknesses: It shifts like crap
Similar Products Tried: SRAM 5.0, 7.0
Bottom Line: I didnt have this on long enough to attest to its longevity, but as soon as I replaced it with the SRAM 5.0 cassette I realized how bad it was. Im a heavy rider with a decent amount of leg strength and once I got a better cassette I realized this one doesnt like to shift under a load. Its intended purpose it not for even mild trail riding, but I think it would work well for most people who stick to the street or the bike path. For that reason I will give it a value of 3 chilis because its not an expensive part. However, because it came on a bike which was otherwise a great trail bike, I give it 2 flaming turds overall.

      Strengths: Good shifting.
      Precise.
      Good wear life.
      Weaknesses: Flexy.
Too heavy, even for a freeride bike. (my hardtail weighs 40 lbs, and I care about the weight of this cassette. That's how heavy.)
      Similar Products Tried: SRAM, Shimano.
Bike Setup: .243 Racing 4130, cro-mo cranks, burly wheelset, avid disc for my light ass.. blah blah blah.
Bottom Line: Decent cassette. Shifts well, lasts about an average amount of time.

      Flexy, wayyyy too heavy.

Not bad, not great. My chain and cassette are worn, and I'm moving to XT.

Thanks sunrace, not a bad job. Too bad no one distributes your stuff.

Bottom Line: I got a sunrace chain free and put that on my bike since my shimano chain was getting old. the chain broke during a race. I weigh 128 lbs so i am not a big guy and the chain breaks on me. never ever had a chain break on me before this one.
Got the cassette again for free at another race. they gave out like a dozen of those pieces of shiittt. Mine is in the box sitting in the garage. thought it might make a good paper weight or something or i would have just thrown it away.

Bottom Line: It came with my bike and the first week riding the 8th gear bent. I didn't call much but about a month later 2 teeth chipped on the 7th gear. That was it. I just went with Shimano quality which the bike store killed me with an overpriced cassette. Buy stuff from the net, its much cheaper.

Weaknesses: durability (what durability?), not shimano
Bike Setup: Bontrager hard-tail. XTR hubs, Bonti Valiant rims. 8spd GripShift.
Bottom Line: Cassette lasted about 500 miles before first tooth broke and the chain started slipping. Cassette is very light and worked great when new but it's just not durable enough. SunRace DOES say it's "for racing only", but who wants to race not knowing when a cog will break? - and it probably will. I've gotten thousands of miles of hassle free, low maintenance riding out of XT cassettes & though I try to just say no to Shimano, looks like I'll be going back.

      Strengths: + price

      Weaknesses: - extremely weak
      - teeth break away
Similar Products Tried: Suntour Powerflo, HG60
      Bike Setup: Kerberos (custom bike)
Bottom Line: This piece of metal is unbelivably weak. For the price and weight you cannot find any better solution but durabilty suffers a lot form it. I broke several teeth on this cassette (never happened before) and some of them are so worn out that new chain is not working properly (skipping thing most of the times I step harder on the cranks), thus making ride impossible. With help of 7,5mm file I am going to get it back to work, but hey ! Is it worth your nerves for just a month or two of pure mountain riding ? I do not think so.
