    Favorite Trail:3N10
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Purchased At:Cambria Bicycle Outfitters
Strengths:Excellent stopping, handles wet rims very well, just enough grit to combat grunge on the rim but not so much to overtax the sidewall. Direct slide in for Avid Rim Wrangler 2 holders.
    Weaknesses:No v-groove for rain
Similar Products Used:KoolStop Thinlines, Avid/KoolStop black pads
    Bike Setup:Arch Supreme v- brakes, non-ceramic rims.
Bottom Line:The WTB COMBO pad is a great brake pad, and my number one recommendation for people that want to use slide-in, cartidge pads. It stops great, does not want to squeal and lasts well.

    Weaknesses:none

Bike Setup:cannondale jekyll 600, traction pro rear, explorer pro front
    full lockouts,
Bottom Line:Big improvment over the shimano cartrige rubber that the bike came with, two fingers bring you to a halt , no noise no fuss. Will keep using these brake pads as long as I use v-brakes. Great product from the boy's at Wilderness Trail Bike, thanks guy's

    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $1000000000.00
    Purchased At:lbs
    Strengths:none
Weaknesses:poor stopping power (in wet conditions)
    squeal like a monkey
    Similar Products Used:koolstops
Bike Setup:kona ti, sid, shimano mix, race face, good stuff!
Bottom Line:After the first ride, I noticed a reduction in stopping power. If they're dry, they squeal. If they're wet, they don't stop you for 30 feet. Must have tried about five thousand different settings on my xtr v's, and they still aren't as good as Koolstops. If you want a good brake pad, go with the Koolstops. I'm gettin pretty tired of v-brakes, so I'm goin disk pretty soon! ONE flamin chili for these, cause they did finally bring my bike to a halt (most of the time).

    Strengths:Abrasive (orange compound)!!!
    Stopping power, modulability
    Weaknesses:none so far
Similar Products Used:Shimano, WTB Razor dual compound (see previus review)
Bike Setup:Mavic CrossMax and also X517 Ceramic rims, XT V-brakes
Bottom Line:Now with abrasive compound it works great on Ceramic rims!!!

No squeaking (even with the infamous XT V-brake) and a predictable stopping power also in wet conditions. It took a while until the new pad cleans the black rubber trace from the rim (with some squeak), but after this break-in period the squeak desappear and braking is very progressive as you pull the lever.

Like the dual compound pads, WTB does a good product.

Strengths:(Dual Compound)Great stopping power even on wet conditions on alu rims. Modulability.
    Weaknesses:Squeak on some rim models.
    Similar Products Used:Standard Shimano pads
Bike Setup:Shimano XT V-brake, Mavic X517 rims, X517ceramic rims & Mavic CrossMax wheels.
Bottom Line:On alu rims, the orange compound cleans the rim and the black one gives the breaking power. Depending on pad's position a squeak can occour. By adjusting the pads or after a short break-in period the squeak desappear. Not so for ceramic rims, the X517ceramic squeaking like killing a pig, but the CrossMax (also ceramic) doesn't squeak at all. In the next days I'll try the full orange compound (abrasive), which is designed for ceramic rims!!! I'll let you know....

    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Purchased At:www.speedgoat.com
    Strengths:durability, stopping power
    Weaknesses:glazing, scraping of rim
Similar Products Used:Avid Rim Wrangler 1 & 2, Aztec, Kool Stop Eagle IIs, Kool Stop Thinline, XT cantis
Bike Setup:Avid Arch Rival '01s, Salsa aluminum boosters front/rear
Bottom Line:Best brake pad I've ever used (dual-compound version). When the going gets hairy or really wet, nothing I've found stops better. The Kool Stop Thinlines are pretty close, but these are about 20% better. Since switching from Bontrager rims to Mavic 221s I've had a problem with glazing, but it's a very gradual process and easy to fix. I just take out my pocket knife and scrape it off and I'm ready to go again.

The orange bits at the end can cause a definite scraping sound on the rim as well as noticeable wear. But then again, if it means slowing down enough to make that turn or avoid having that car hit me at 30 miles an hour, I'd say it's worth it.

People who have used my brake setup say the stopping power is the closest thing to a good set of discs imaginable. I think they're right.

Strengths:Dual Compound version. Effectively cleans the brake rim and therefore provides excellent stopping power in all conditions especially when wet and muddy. This is an excellent cheap upgrade that increases stopping power.
Weaknesses:May increase rim wear but none seen yet.

    Bike Setup:Proflex 757
Bottom Line:Excellent brake pad, does exactly what it says on the tin
