$12.00 | | Purchased At: | REI | | Strengths: | None | | Weaknesses: | Loud despite any adjustment Grabby Eat rims like mad
| | Similar Products Used: | Kool Stop | | Bike Setup: | Trek 8000 with Shimano XT throughout | | Bottom Line: | These are without a doubt the worst pads that I have ever used. My big question is this; how can a company knowingly sell such a defective product and stay in buisness? I will stick with the Kool Stops that I have been using. They are quiet, give excellent stopping power, and don't eat my rims. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$6.00 | | Purchased At: | eBay | | Strengths: | Stops perfectly, great modulation, quiet, clean, long wearing | | Weaknesses: | None apparent | | Similar Products Used: | Stock Avid, Shimano, many Kool Stop varieties | | Bike Setup: | Frame, wheels, buncha other parts and these pads on Avid brakes | | Bottom Line: | These pads are excellent. Every bit as good as any Kool Stop. I've used them for a year and continue to be impressed by them. I bought two sets of 4 (for $12!) because I thought I'd burn through them like I have with stock Avids and Shimanos in the past. The first set is hardly worn after a year of hard riding in all conditions. Very nice product. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$10.00 | | Purchased At: | Buchikas Bike and Ski | | Strengths: | Great stopping power, wet or dry. Virtually silent. Awesome all 'round pad. | | Weaknesses: | None yet | | Similar Products Used: | Stock crap pads. | | Bike Setup: | 2002 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo, Panaracer Fire XC tires | | Bottom Line: | Use caution on first ride with these pads. They brake so firmly they lift the rear tire with normal lever pressure! Just got back from a very wet. muddy excursion and they performed perfectly. For 10 bucks, they saved me the upgrade to disk that I had planned for my next paycheck. A bargain for the price. Get these pads!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$16.00 | | Purchased At: | direct from Delta Cycle | | Strengths: | quiet, no black junk left on rims, work well in wet. | | Weaknesses: | doesn't really stop the bike any faster than the stock Avid pads. | | Similar Products Used: | Coolstop, Avid | | Bike Setup: | Santa Cruz | | Bottom Line: | Good pads,(quiet and clean) but not noticeably superior in braking power to what I had. I think the cool stops I have on another bike require less force to stop the bike from high speeds. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$6.00 | | Purchased At: | Supergo B&M | | Strengths: | Great stopping power. | | Weaknesses: | Hmmm... let's see. New found stopping power takes some getting used to? Uh, no complaints. | | Similar Products Used: | Promax pads (stock) | | Bike Setup: | GT I-drive (30 lbs), Shimano Acera shifters/brake levers, Promax v-brakes, and IRC Mythos XC tires on Weinmann Zac 19 rims. | | Bottom Line: | I got two pairs of brake shoes to replace the ones already worn down from constant riding. Since the front still had some left, I only replaced the rear, which I use more often. After I installed and adjusted these babies the difference was astounding. These pads stopped the bike much quicker and with better modulation than the stock pads could ever do. I took the bike out on the trail I realized I didn't need to mash the levers so hard to slow me down. I tried the full lockup on paved road going 10 mph. Damn near threw me off the bike. And I only had the Aztec pads on the rear!
Before I got these pads, I contemplated upgrading to discs for better stopping power and modulation, but I realized it's the pads that make the most difference in stopping. On the more technical trails, my v-brakes were unreliable to slow me down. After installing these pads, I have no doubt that they will perform predictably when needed. Great value, too. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$7.00 | | Purchased At: | SuperGo | | Strengths: | Good Fast, stopping power in all weather conditions. Stops on a dime and will not gunk up rims with residue. | | Weaknesses: | Zero. | | Bike Setup: | GF Tassajara, Egg Beeters, Thudbuster, ODI Clamps-on's, Aztec2 pads. | | Bottom Line: | Stock pads wore out on the bike real quick (Promax). What a huge difference these Delta AZTEC 2 pads make. The stopping power is unbelievable even on my sub-par Promax brakes. Pause your computer and get these pads now! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$8.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance bike shop | | Strengths: | They stop the bike. | | Weaknesses: | I had to get them replaced three times in a week because the pad wouldn't hold on to the spindle thingee. | | Similar Products Used: | original metal-encrusted pads. | | Bike Setup: | '95 Trek 850 | | Bottom Line: | Buy these pads if you can afford to get it right the fourth time around. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$9.00 | | Strengths: | Much better than stock Avid Rim Wrangler 1 | | Weaknesses: | Hard to find in local shops, possibly due to the fact that Aztec Version 1 sucked. | | Similar Products Used: | Kool Stop, Ritchey, Avid, Shimano | | Bike Setup: | Front Grimeca Disk / Rear Avid 2.0 with Aztec2 | | Bottom Line: | I'm very impressed with these pads. I haven't cleaned my rear rim in months and I'm still able to skid the rear at will. 'nuff said. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$7.00 | | Purchased At: | Bike Nashbar | | Strengths: | Inexpensive, long lasting, quiet, stop well. | | Weaknesses: | None. | | Similar Products Used: | LX stock pads, XT pads w/holders, Aztec replacement pads for XT holders. | | Bike Setup: | Cannondale w/DD-60 HeadShok w/older style LX V-brakes. | | Bottom Line: | These pads work. I wore out a set and they performed fine. Then I bought XT shoes with the replaceable pads. The XT pads make a scraping noise and pick up grit and chew up your rims. I then put in Aztec V-brake pads in the Shimano holders. These must be a different compound than the Aztec2 pads (they say Fibrax compound). These squealed so bad that I had to take them off, even with toe-in. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$8.00 | | Purchased At: | Performance Cycles in Boulder | | Strengths: | Quiet, Durable, Strong | | Weaknesses: | Build up crap in the grooves | | Similar Products Used: | Ritchey, Avid, Shimano | | Bike Setup: | Disk Front / Avid SD1.0 V-Brakes Rear | | Bottom Line: | So far, these are the best pads I've used. I don't understand why more places don't carry them. Do not confuse these with the old, crappy Delta/Aztec pads of old. The Aztec2's are great. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
