Submitted by David Parkes a Weekend Warrior from Santiago, Chile
    Date Reviewed: January 31, 2004
    Favorite Trail:Santuario
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $20.00
    Purchased At:Altered
    Strengths:None
Weaknesses:These are the worst disk brake pads. It took me 6 rides to wear them in. By the time they were worn in, they had practically worn out! I have had them less than 2 weeks and they are already 3/4 of the way down. On long descents they cease to function - VERY DANGEROUS!!! On top of the that I had to pay $ 20 per set as they were the only ones available at the local market.
Similar Products Used:Original Shimano pads. Lasted me 18 months.
Bike Setup:One with s*** brake pads.
Bottom Line:This is a review for Barradine brake pads for Shimano XT hydraulic disk brakes. DONT BUY THEM - THEY ARE DANGEROUS!!!! And be careful when buying from ALTERED!!!

Submitted by Mark a Weekend Warrior from NW England
    Date Reviewed: January 13, 2002
    Favorite Trail:around Les Arcs, France
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $7.00
    Purchased At:Local shop
Strengths:Excellent grip on rims in all conditions
Weaknesses:The pads wear down relatively quickly -2 20 mile rides in the Gritstone Peak District, England
Similar Products Used:I've recently started using Cartridge pads
Bike Setup:Kona XC Hardtail, Judy XC. Mavic 517 F and Mavic 519 R.

Bottom Line:A good pad in all weathers. Cheap and cheerful

Submitted by Bill a Weekend Warrior from Adelaide
    Date Reviewed: February 19, 2000
    Favorite Trail:any
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Cheap option when you shift from an LX pad to an XT replaceable type. Makes it possible to vary pad makers (Koolstop, Ritchey etc) and save.
    Weaknesses:None yet.
    Similar Products Used:Shimano only
Bike Setup:Fisher Joshua with many upgrades.
Bottom Line:Good cheap pad which todate works better then LX. I suggest you monitor their wear to ensure that they do not eventually scrape your rim (XT will scrape too if you are not careful). Once original pads expire you can upgrade to Koolstop replacement pads (cheap option). Makes sense.

absolute garbage, have only had on for about 5/6 rides and they wore out completely right down to the metal holders, and took gouge out of rear rim
    Similar Products Used:
    kool stops (the tops)and xt's
    Bike Setup:
    mount vision
Bottom Line:don't,don't,don't buy these, got one cool chile, because they at least look the part!!!
