$15.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Low price Simple, no-gimmick operation | | Weaknesses: | None found yet | | Similar Products Used: | Stock Giant pieces | | Bike Setup: | 2006 Giant Yukon | | Bottom Line: | The rattling and wobbling from the stock levers drove me nuts so I drove 5 minutes to the closest of 5 Lubbock bike shops and spent 15 of the smartest dollars I've spent. The Alivio lever (M420) is aluminum all over, is light, stiff, quiet, and is shaped right. If you purchase a sub-$500 bike, please consider swapping the '80s BMX levers for a pair of these. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Bottom Line: While I had them they were great and worked flawlessly. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1.00 | | Purchased At: | Corex | | Strengths: | It works like $1.00 brake. | | Weaknesses: | Where do I start? Plastic junk! | | Similar Products Used: | XT | | Bike Setup: | turbo charged | | Bottom Line: | Don't buy it! If it's on your stock bike, junk it and upgrade. It's a sad excuse for brake and lever. Shimano stay with manufacturing upper ends. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$15.00 | | Purchased At: | bikes unlimited | | Strengths: | weight, price, improved braking power, looks. | | Weaknesses: | none. | | Similar Products Used: | stock on kids trek y24. | | Bike Setup: | kids trek y24, shimano alivio brake levers, jagwire brake pads, redline platform pedals, selle italia flite ti. | | Bottom Line: | these are great brake levers they improved my braking power by far. they are a great product. buy these if you want to improve your braking power for not much price. I'm 11 and my stock kids brake levers gave me very little braking power I couldn't stop that well all the time as soon as I got these I could stop anywhere I wanted and control my speed with one finger. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Norway Date Reviewed: November 21, 1999 | | Favoriate Trail: | Sørmarka (Norway) | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | The strength of this product is that it is easy and simple, yet very durable and strong. It is also very cheap and it has a very good grip. | | Weaknesses: | Nothing I can think of. | | Similar Products Used: | Shimano Altus V-brake lever. | | Bike Setup: | I have a DBS Cybertrack, Norwegian manufacture. I use Shimano Deore LX V-brakes. | | Bottom Line: | The Shimano Alivio brake levers is a very good alternative to the much more expensive XT or XTR levers. | Overall Rating: |

I use these levers with LX vees. These levers rock. They are less bulky than LX yet they're far less expensive than XT. I really like them and with the reach adjuster they can fit about anybody's hands. Plus they work fine with GripShift. The only bad thing is that they rattle ever so slightly on bumpy downhills. | Overall Rating: |
