      FavoriteTrail: mountain
      Duration Product Used: 6 months
      Price Paid: $8
      Purchased At: local bike shop
      Strengths: price
Weaknesses: avid arch rival flexes it
      Similar Products Tried: Roox v.22
      Bike Setup: Refitted Giant Boulder
Bottom Line: Improved performance of my oem rear v-brake.
However after installing avid arch rival, frame freely flexed and worse still Tektro booster flexed as well.
This was not acceptable, so I've switched to Roox (which works)
Bottom Line: if your (rear) vbrake is not so powerful then Tektro booster is ok, else buy something stronger (and more expensive too...)

      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Price Paid: $26
Purchased At: Fun Hogz Gear Exgange (www.funhogz.com)
      Strengths: Cheap, strong, CNC'd.
Weaknesses: a little heavy but no biggy...
Similar Products Tried: BMW brake plate
Bike Setup: 2000 Specialized P.3, marzocchi fork, rhyno litle rims.
Bottom Line: Awsome thing to improve the power of your vee's. I got it with a pair of Shimano Deore/LX vee's and it makes them work awsome!

Duration Product Used: Less than 1 month
      Price Paid: $15
      Purchased At: CyclePath
Strengths: Low price, looks alright, reduced the rear flex by quite a bit.
Weaknesses: Doesn't look stunning. Still flex a bit (a lot less then what the frame used to though, so, good improvement basically)
Similar Products Tried: None...so I don't know how this compare to other products.
Bike Setup: XT v-breaks (rear), Trek 2001 4500. I only need this for the bike's rear, because at the front, it doesn't flex with my Psylo XC (XT front v-breaks as well).
Bottom Line: Good enough for me. At that price, I'd say it's pretty much what I'd expect. Low price quick fix.

      Strengths: Looks Cool.
Weaknesses: Doesn't Do anything for me. Can't notice a differance.
Bike Setup: Shimano Deore v-brake, avid levers.
Bottom Line: Doesn't do anything for me. If you think you break mounts flex you might as well try it... It is cheaper than Disc breaks.

      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Price Paid: $10
      Purchased At: Shorter Rochford Cycles
      Strengths: Looks - that's it!
Weaknesses: Too Weak, Fiddly installation, installation intructions printed on rear of box; so you have to keep the packaging if you want to sell it on. The purple anodized washers look dated.
Similar Products Tried: none - first time purchase out of desperation
Bike Setup: Specialized Stumpjumper Pro M4 c/w Shimano XTR V's
Bottom Line: Too weak as others have stated - my Stumpjumper chainstays still flexed the same as without the booster fitted so why carry around more weight even if it does look good.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! - Shop around - there must be another product that will do a better job (there were more of these boosters around a couple of years back!!!)

Bike Setup: Yukon with xtra bits ;-)
Bottom Line: If you are going to spend the money to improve brake performance, make your money count. Spend more money and get something that works properly. This booster is piss weak.

It is cheap, but is it worth it ??

FavoriteTrail: Road, curvy, at least 10-20% :)
Duration Product Used: Tested or demo'ed only
Strengths: Light, cheap. SHould work for average V-brakes
Weaknesses: Sucks with Shimano XT V's
      Similar Products Tried: None
Bike Setup: Stock Trek 4500, Deore Rear Derailleur, 2000 Shimano XT V-brakes
Bottom Line: Too weak for the XT brakes. The frame (rear) still flexes, although a bit less then before installing the booster. It has not fixed the flex 100%, but has helped sufficiently to increase braking performance on the rear. (The frame did not flex with stock V-brakes)

On the front: no change. My JETT still flexes a little.

Bottom line: Too weak for my XT's, but cheap. 5 Chillies for value, I'll give it 3 for performance, as it should work with weaker brakes.

      Duration Product Used: 3 months
Strengths: light, stylish on my bike, very effective
      Weaknesses: can't think of any
Similar Products Tried: none, a booster's a booster
      Bike Setup: 2000 Cannondale Super V 500, generic V-brakes, XT/CODA all over, SRAM 9.0
Bottom Line: I got these to try to eliminate the rediculous amount of swingarm flex when braking in wet, muddy, and snowy conditions. I got the front one to make the front match the back and I'm glad I did. Not only did the swingarm flex go to about 10% of what it was before, but the front brake became much better at grabbing the rim. Even in dry conditions, these boosters help out alot. These are the only ones my dealer would recommend since they were cheap and effective. Besides, on a black bike with silver-fade letters, these things look like they were made for the bike. I'm gonna throw 5 chilis their direction because I can finally stop in snow now.

FavoriteTrail: any which has dirt and jumps
      Duration Product Used: 1 Year
Strengths: black, worked well on specialzed rockhopper a1 fs, although there was still a small amount of flex in the seatstays, no flex with an orange airo
Weaknesses: not totaly effectibe for a specalized rockhopper, havn't tried the airo without it yet
      Similar Products Tried: none
Bike Setup: orange airo '98 shimano dx v's
Bottom Line: it worked ok on the rockhopper, although there was some flex, and the difference was not really that great, and they did cost 18 quid, although it is better than 40 quid for the shimano one. as to wether to recomendit, i am undecided because it works on my airo, although that could be down to the fact that the airo has square seat stays, and a little bit of diffence in the rockhopper, altough it could be the cable strecthching, or brake arms flexing (unlikly)
