      FavoriteTrail: Santos
      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Price Paid: $5
      Purchased At: Nashbar
      Strengths: Cheap
      Weaknesses: Looks cheap
      No carbon as stated
      Flexes
      Looks cheap
Did I mention that it looks cheap
Bike Setup: 2002 Trek Fuel 100 with Cane Creek 5 brakes
Bottom Line: I could not find anything else at the time, so I bought it. It helps a little, but not much. If you are just an ocassional rider on flats then this might help. Anything else just buy something else.

      Price Paid: $7
      Purchased At: Nashbar.com
      Strengths: NONE!!
Weaknesses: Not Carbon Fiber. It is plastic. Flexes right along with the frame.
      Similar Products Tried: None
Bike Setup: Cannondale F3000, all XT
Bottom Line: Would not recommend. I put it on to test it was was very, very disappointed. Especially by the fact that Nashbar claimes that it is carbon fiber. Just plastic with the fiber weave design.

      Date Reviewed: 1/9/2003 11:17:00 AM
Duration Product Used: Less than 1 month
      Price Paid: $6
      Purchased At: nashbar.com
Strengths: Got to be the price!
Weaknesses: Not as strong as I thought it would be but adequate.. If it ain't carbon fiber they shouldn't try to pass it off as such (appearance).
      Similar Products Tried: None
Bike Setup: GT XCR-4000; XT brake levers/calipers; XT derailleurs; Mavic D521 rims; RockShox fork/shock
Bottom Line: My rear frame was flexing after putting on the XT caliper/lever so I needed a booster. Seen this one for $6.00 so gotta try it. Brake feels a lot better but still not the greatest. Hey, for six bucks what can you expect? I feel that it's worth it as far as the performance per dollar factor goes; it did reduce my frame flex. For my needs I think it's a great value but the funky "simulated" carbon-fiber look has got to go.

      Purchased At: Nashbar.com
      Strengths: People look at it.
Weaknesses: Not CB at all, it's solid plastic. It doesn't work.
Bike Setup: Klein Attitude Race, Sid, XT
Bottom Line: Waste of money even if it's 5 beans. Cutout a styrofoam plate in the shape of a horseshoe paint it black and it do the same as this thing does. The benefit doing to the plate idea would be it's atleast lighter.

Duration Product Used: Less than 1 month
      Price Paid: $5
      Purchased At: Nashbar
      Strengths: Hmmm...
Weaknesses: Bulky, not carbon fiber (maybe plastic?), not rigid
Bike Setup: Kona steel, XT/XTR, X-Vert
Bottom Line: I bought the arch to round out a small purchase from Nashbar. The arch made no noticeable difference in my braking power, so I gave it to a friend whose ancient S-Works frame was having seatstay flex with the upgrade from cantis to V-brakes. With the arch properly mounted, the frame still flexed as much as it did without the arch. Waste of money, waste of space.

Strengths: Cheap, Looks nice on my bike for the most part
Weaknesses: Obviously not carbon woven, Looks like plastic?
      Similar Products Tried: none
Bike Setup: TREK y-33, XT comp., and brand new SWEET Judy 100's
Bottom Line: I'm only about 160 pounds, The frame flexed some without the arch, but it still gave me good stoppage. With the arch, However cheap-looking it may be, lessens the effort in braking on harry descents. It's still intact, so I have no complaints. Light weights should get it for less braking effort/ Heavy wieghts want to go with something more durable.

Bike Setup: old stuff on hardtail.
Bottom Line: My LX cantilevers couldn't lock up--no matter how I set them up. I put this on and they lock now. I worked for nashbar 2 summers--they sell a lot of crap, but this worked okay for me.

Weaknesses: well it isnt worth the 6 clams that i spent on it
      Similar Products Tried: shimano
Bike Setup: voodoo zobop with the full shimano stuff (I love this bike)
Bottom Line: these things suck so hard they dont work at all they flex e-zly and break with the quickness why spend the cash on this hunk of plastic try shimano or moonlighter (lil bit cheaper but still sweet)
there is a review that says some thing like if the forks flex when the brakes are pulled hard your wheel would be locked up anyway well its not true if your pads are wet frozen muddy... then they glide like a mother and you have no brakes at all (learned that on a downhill) i would buy a good set of boosters look at the reviews before you buy

      2. carbon fiber huh???? yeah, right!

Bike Setup: 98 K2 3000 with xt brakes
Bottom Line: These things suck! Carbon fiber my ASS! They dont work at all, not even a little. I bought 2 of them for 6.95 apiece, and I am sending them back for 7.00 shipping...ITs not even worth me keeping them for that little bit of money i am getting back from them. They seem like plastic, and they have so much flex to them, it is unbelievable. Add this to your bike if you want to make it heavier...thats all it does.

      Strengths: Cheap in price!
      Light in weight!
      Weaknesses: Cheap in construction!
      Doesn't help!
      Looks like hell!
Similar Products Tried: Moonlighter XC Ti's are on the way.
      Bike Setup: Y-22, XT stuff
Bottom Line: No way in hell is this thing carbon fiber. Right out of the package (which has no instructions) I can squeeze the thing with one hand (like one of this grip exercisers) and feel it just start to flex. It's got to be plastic molded to replicate a typical c/f appearance. Save your $6.95 and put it towards something else reviewed here.

Too bad 1 flaming chili is the lowest you can rate something... this deserves none.

      Strengths: Nope.
      Weaknesses: No instructions
Threads are cut into the 'carbon fiber' and strip out easily
The 'carbon fiber' seems like plastic to me
It broke once I tightened the bolt
      Similar Products Tried: None
Bottom Line: Don't buy this piece of stamped plastic. It broke once I tightened the bolt for my brakes. The small bolts that tighten onto the brake posts are threaded onto the plastic, not any type of metal.

Bottom Line: Suck. Nashbar Sucks. I already went disc, so I dontated them to a friend. $6.95 is a good price for Fisher Price plastic though...

      Looks good on my bike
      Fairly stiff
      Good hardware
Weaknesses: Not as stiff as Moonlighter Ti
      Similar Products Tried: Moonlighter Ti
      Bike Setup: Klein Mantra Race
      Avis Arch Rival 50 brakes
Bottom Line: Best value I have ever gotten on a bicycle part purchase. I had the Moonlighter Ti boosters but I didn't like the looks on my bike, these look a lot less clunky and massive IMHO. While they are not as stiff, they prevent flex for the lever pressures you actually use while riding. If you squeeze hard wnough to see the stays flex, the wheel would lock up anyway. Another nice feature is the set screw that prevents the mounting screw from moving outward in the slot if the mounts are narrow and the screws are not against the outside of the slot. These are hard to find in the catalog because there is no picture and it is hidden on the fork page.
