Description:Designed to be used with your Diabolus or Evolve DH crankset, the FR/DH BB cups are built for hardcore freeriders and DH racers. Manufactured from high strength aluminum and featuring twice the number of ball bearings than our competitors, the Diabolus BB cups are also compatible with Shimano’s external system, making for a great upgrade.
Forged and CNC Machined from 7050 aluminum.
Features 35% more thread engagement and substantially thicker walls than the Atlas cups for greater durability in big-hit situations.
Massive external bearings have 35% larger ball bearings than internal systems, yielding vastly improved durability.
Double sealed cartridge bearings feature a special full-complement construction. This doubles the amount of ball bearings in the cartridge and effectively doubles the load carrying capacity of the bearing.
Interchangeable with Shimano’s XTR, XT and Saint BB cups.

Went with the black all mountain jobie first( total cheese), thought the gold one would be more durable,big mistake(bought two just in case the first was a lemon).
If you ride your bike year round in the UK then steer clear full stop. You will be disappointed with the reliability. The seals let all the crap in and become notchy in no time.Three months is pushing it in the winter time and at 35 quid a pop they become expensive. The strength is good for jumps and drops but so what if the seals can't cope with the weather. I actually think the crappy shimano ones are better and thats saying something.
I'm going to try the new hope offering, looks good. (My only worry is the metal bearing sitting on the shaft, maybe a problem if corrosion does get in).

I rode with them on for about a month and then the non-drive side completely seized, really disappointing.
I have stripped them down and re-greased in a desperate effort to get them running which worked for one ride, now they've seized again. The seals are rubbish on these things, there's one little plastic cover then a rubber covered washer over the bearings!
They might be burly but they aren't up to the most basic job.

Now the drive side bearing seized... Looks like bad seals are the culprit. It's dusty in AZ and when it rains there are serious water crossings... these blow. Buying Phil Wood bearings and having them put it. | | Bottom Line: | The "full complement" bearing idea is just cheaper than running a cage inside. Plus the "double seals" that Race Face claims.. well.. they suck. One is a plastic washer and the other is a thin metal washer covered with rubber... no labyrinth.. nothing...
crap durability.. but cheap I guess...
But Shimano ones at least.. they have better seals and a cage inside to hold the balls. All XType are interchangeable.

They're extremely durable and light for what they are. They're on the high end expensive side, but if you can afford it and want the security of a crankset that's not going to break regardless of what you throw at it, this the probably the best option. Major advantage to be able to remove the cranks without using a crank puller. Has a self puller mechanism attached to it.
