Roman roads
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
Nimble, lively, compact, goes where you point it faster and it's light aswell. Deep chainstays , plenty of quality weld around back end
Weaknesses:
Semi monocoque alu frame amplifies noise...small beer complaint this one though
Bike Setup:
Ditched the bendy bars and lightened up on the wheels with XT/517/Michelin1.95.
Bottom Line:I'm a happy chappie

Submitted by Oli a Weekend Warrior from Devon, England
Date Reviewed: June 8, 1999
Favoriate Trail:
Mid Devon hills,South West England
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
Great bike - very light and responsive frame, good mix of components LX front, XT rear, Avid brakes which are excellent, the handbuilt wheels are far better quality than most other manufacturers provide at this price.
Weaknesses:
None I have found yet - although I swapped the rather uncomfortable Orange saddle for a Planet X Kevlar on the day I bought the bike.
Similar Products Used:
Had a Kona Cindercone for many years which was a brilliant choice. I liked the new Konas I tried, but decided to test a UK bike for a change, and the Orange Evo2 was my eventual choice.
Bike Setup:
See www.orangebikes.co.uk for full spec. of the Evo2 and all their range.
Bottom Line:I'm glad I bought it and have enjoyed cycling round the Devon/Somerset trails over the last few very wet months. If you get a chance and fancy something a bit different, try riding an Orange!

Submitted by Martin Page a Weekend Warrior from Bradford, England
Date Reviewed: April 28, 1999
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
The frame is so sweet, stiff and light. The frame is just short of £400 and I have XT up front, with XTR shifters, reverse rise rear, cassette and shifters. Syncros, X-Lite and Chris King do the steering. The brakes are the new Pro System from Hope and they are a guaranteed purchase for those wanting to upgrade all built onto Mavic x317 CD rims!
Weaknesses:
Naa No Weaknesses
Bottom Line:This bike is the ultimate hardtail setup, e-mail me for more details!!
Overall Rating:5
