      FavoriteTrail: rays mtb park
Duration Product Used: Less than 1 month
      Price Paid: $100
      Purchased At: walfart
Strengths: It lasted about 18 minutes at rays mountain bike park
Weaknesses: i broke everything but the frame. The only reason the frame didn't brake is because everthing else broke first.
      Similar Products Tried: trek liquid,jekyll,gemini
Bike Setup: there are no aftermarket parts for these stupid useless things
Bottom Line: If you like being laughed at i say jump in your car and make a trip to the nearest walmart. This thing went out in flames (literally)

      Duration Product Used: 6 months
      Price Paid: $125
      Purchased At: Wal Mart
Strengths: Looks totally sweet! Lightning bolts!!
Weaknesses: everything moves when it shouldn't and nothing moves when it should
      Similar Products Tried: Huffy Catapult
      Bike Setup: Rubber side down.
Bottom Line: The characteristic clunking sound that the bike makes when clearing obstacles or rolling over bumps alerts fellow trail riders that they should make way because you may soon be barreling down the hillside completely out of control on a bike that has lost all of its components. Fortunately the clunking is loud enough that helpful cyclists should be able to follow you and return your lost components.

Basically, this is one of the worst bikes ever made.

      FavoriteTrail: Oleta Park Beginner's Trail
      Duration Product Used: 6 months
      Price Paid: $89
      Purchased At: Wal-Mart
Strengths: Very attractive bike, looks expensive and futuristic.
Weaknesses: Heavy, 50 pound bohemouth, very slow to ride on the sidewalk or paved roads. Worthless bicycle seat.
Similar Products Tried: Schwinn Frontier GS
Bike Setup: Stock + $15 Viscount bike seat + little bell to use as a horn while commuting.
Bottom Line: Very disappointing bike. I wanted a commuter bike to ride from point A to B that would look cool. This one looks cool alright but its all show, the performance stinks. I agree with the other reviewers that say this bike is SLOW when riding on paved roads. And if you tried to take it on a trail be prepared to carry the 50 pound monster back because it will fall apart before you finish the first lap. You will need to buy another seat as this one starts hurting after 5 minutes of riding. I have sat on broken beer bottles that provided more comfort than the stock seat this bike comes with.

After leaving this in the rain it rusted out completely and was not worth the $50 repair it would take to restore it. SO I dropped it off in the ghetto and hopefully some derelict will fix it up and use it.

Advise: If you are just starting out buy a used bike from craig's list or eBay of you local garagesale or bike repair shop. After this I bought a used Schwinn Frontier GS for $85 and it rocks! Stay away from department store garbage.

If you buy used bike and then sell it you will lose maybe $20 maximum from price you apid originally whereas with department store crap be prepared to sell it for $15 or $20 total and you lose alot of money.

      FavoriteTrail: Lake Overholser
      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Price Paid: $25
Purchased At: Cash America Pawn Shop
Strengths: Stable handling, actual SRAM grip shifters, bar ends were included (they even had the Next logo on them).
The bike's so stable that a friend of mine could ride it hands free with no wobbling at all.
The freewheel/sprockets are pretty durable, too.
Weaknesses: BRAKES!! The adjusment screws at the pads just don't hold up! One wrong move and they are stripped, thus your brakes drag.
The rims are a bit weak, too.
Finally, why have a FSB shaped frame on a hardtail!?
Next is only sold at Wal Mart--shame since they seem to have what it takes to build real bikes.
Similar Products Tried: 1997 Schwinn Mesa GS (better bike, but more expensive)
Bike Setup: Pretty much a stock hardtail
Bottom Line: Good beginning bike, especially for the price. I feel like Next is probably the best brand you can buy at Wal Mart, even compared to their Schwinns.
As with any department store bike, be prepared to adjust/tighten everything, and upgrade some parts within the first season.
Another friend of mine owns this bike now. She's got a habit of being hard on bikes, but hasn't managed to tear this one up yet (not that I know of anyway).

Duration Product Used: More than 3 years
      Price Paid: $99
      Purchased At: Walmart
Strengths: A cheap buy for someone interested, but not yet committed, to mountain biking. You can easily get your money's worth from this bike. I beat it pretty badly and the main components have held up.
Weaknesses: Bike is heavy. It comes in a pretty basic set up so customizing is on your dime. Chain snapped uring the first year of use, but put in a link and it has held since. Can not get the gears to synch properly regardless of professional tune up.
Similar Products Tried: Raleigh (though better model)
Bike Setup: Basic with wider, softer seat for my wider, softer a$$.
Bottom Line: This is a basic MB for someone getting into the sport for the first time and doesn't know a good bike from bad and doesn't want to spend a lot of money on something they may never use again. One good season of riding will justify the cost. I've gotten three so this sucker has been a good investment.

      Purchased At: Target
      Strengths: None
Weaknesses: Everything the seat fell off and i almost killed myself when i rode off the curb and got hit by big pa's 18 wheeler, i was only in the hospital for 14 weeks and when i got back i tackled it again
Similar Products Tried: vertical lightning streak, mongoose hoop-d, mongoose predator, murray mt. peak
Bike Setup: stock except for bell horn and racing flectors and right front brake pad (it broke when i got hit by big pa, i took it back to target and they hookded me up with a new one free (since i only broke one side (very nice people(help me with anything(gave me a free lock(and flectors)
Bottom Line: buy this bike if you want to get into the extreme sport of freeriding. this bike will hold hits of 9 ft. who knows if you practice on this racer you could be the next wade Simmons

      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Price Paid: $125
      Purchased At: Wal-Mart
Strengths: strong frame, solid brake feel
Weaknesses: cheap internals, difficult to adjust derailer, tires do not track or grip on trails,
Bike Setup: upgraded trail tires, pedal stirrups,
Bottom Line: I'm a begginer trail rider and didn't want to invest too much money in a hobby that I might soon dump. I paid $125 for a hardtail Next Revolution at Wal-Mart to get started. The bike is not made to ride on the street because the soft tires and softer suspension absorb a lot of peddle energy. I nearly killed myself learning to trail ride because the stock tires would not grip over roots. The bike tracks better after I upgraded the tires, but the rear still slides out from under me in tight spots. I am hooked on trail riding and have probably gotten $125 of enjoyment in the past three months. The gears are now slipping and popping so I'm going to take it back to Wal-Mart today. I want a bike that will meet my needs as my skills develop. The Next Revolution is best suited for someone who is going to lose interest in cycling after riding around the block a few times.

Duration Product Used: Tested or demo'ed only
      Price Paid: $1
      Purchased At: Walmart
      Strengths: where?
      Weaknesses: everything
Similar Products Tried: other walmart crap, Diamondback and Raleigh
      Bike Setup: broken
Bottom Line: This is for my brother-in-law's Next bike. It sucks. It is ridden only on road and within a few months, the rear hub internals just broke. Walmart put a new wheel on it for free, but it sucks just as much. They bearings keep going out of adjustment just like the original hub had done. Im expecting this hub to break within a couple months. The front shock also bites. When it was new, it had very soft travel which bottomed out rolling slowly over a speed bump. Now after sitting outside in the weather, the elastomer springs have hardened up and now its like a funky rigid fork. Finally, the drivetrain sucks as well. The deraillers just wont adjust properly. Its a piece of crap bike and no worthy of the effort it takes to pedal that 50 lb. piece of horse hocky. I would give it 5 flaming turds for value and overall rating because it is certainly a flaming piece of crap multiplied five times over, but that would raise the rating so I wont do that.

      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Price Paid: $120
      Purchased At: Walmart
Strengths: Strong frame, smooth ride with the full suspension, adequate components
Weaknesses: To heavy (it's hard to lift even with both hands), VERY soft suspension (the fork dives easily all the way down).
      Similar Products Tried: None
Bike Setup: Stock, except for a Bell gel seat
Bottom Line: You may like it if all you do is easy trail riding.
Don't take it if you're going to use it on road (the weight + the soft suspension absorbs all you peddaling energy), or if you're going to do harder trail rides (it's weight makes it hard to control, and difficult on steep slopes).
After all, you get what you pay for...

Strengths: VERY nice bike for a beginner, good shifter and exelent brakes for cheap apealling to the eye.
Weaknesses: the suspention SUCKS!!!!, You have to lubircate it every day to keep it working ok. plus it breaks easily and you have to be carefull when riding it so nothing breaks.
Similar Products Tried: Mongoose A40, Royce Union 600 something, Huffy Mohave Gulch
      Bike Setup: Basic with suspention
Bottom Line: Good heavy slow bike for the low-life street only beginner biker, a proffesinal biker would just smash it and take it to the dump to rot.

want to sell his soul for a C'dale yet, Which in my humble opinion would be well worth it.
