from UK Date Reviewed: October 20, 2001 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | For the money it seems virtually unbreakable!, apart from the wheels (out of true on second ride) very good beginner full susser, looks the buisness and rides well
| | Weaknesses: | wheels (halo combats on order!), standard seat stem stupidly short, weight (this bike is heavy!) but easy to ride,no bottle cage mounts | | Similar Products Used: | saracen raw pro, saracen awol, | | Bike Setup: | post moderne extended seat post, crud catcher, muck sucker front mud gard, halo combat 26' wheels & tioga dh 2.3 tyres (on order), azonic shorty ahead stem 50mm | | Bottom Line: | great for beginners and old school alike a really good bargain at the moment too....i only paid £300.00 for mine as its now an old model! but remember............this bike is quite heavy but at least it'll last better than most similarly priced full sussers on the market :-) | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from North Yorkshire, England Date Reviewed: May 30, 1999 | | Favoriate Trail: | Dalby Forest | | Duration Product Used: | less than 1 month | | Strengths: | Tough for the money, looks the part, does the job, Fun to ride! | | Weaknesses: | Heavy! Standard seatpost way too short. Standard flat pedals offer no grip. | | Similar Products Used: | Marin Alpine Trail | | Bike Setup: | Club Roost bars, Wellgo DX copies, USE 420mm seatpost. | | Bottom Line: | The bike is very heavy. My 21.5 framed bike weighs 34lb! On the other hand nothing has bent or fell off yet and the wheels have stayed true even after a few jumps and drop offs. I've still managed to commute on it to work every day and have done some XC riding on it. Overall it's ideal if (like me) you only get the odd hour to blast around on your bike and spend your time thrashing about the woods rather than going on cross country epics. The guy at the bike shop told me I'd snap the full suspension Marin I was looking at in half, which put me off as it looked kind of spindly anyway. The Giant seems bombproof and only has one oversized pivot. Most of the weight seems to come from the wheels and forks so there's planty of room for upgrading. A blast to ride and excellent performance for the money. | Overall Rating: |
