Description:GT TEQUESTA

Submitted by Tyce a Weekend Warrior from Utah
Date Reviewed: December 14, 2006
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $600.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Climbs v. well. Frame strength. Responsive during descents.
Weaknesses:Good components for the price, but definitely upgradeable, especially the Indy shocks it orginally came with.
Similar Products Used:Jamis Exile
Bike Setup:Marrozochi MX shocks, avid 2.0 levers & brakes, STX-RC & LX drivetrain
Bottom Line:This bike has lasted for a decade now with no problems even though I'm a clydesdale who rides it rough. Blew two rear rims in urban assault, but the frame keeps truckin'. Bought it in high school with all my savings from a summer job and couldn't have done better.

Favoriate Trail:any
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $400.00
Purchased At:highlander cycles
Strengths:stiff
Weaknesses:weight!!!!!!!!!! cracked the head tube 1/8"wide and 2.5' long...
Similar Products Used:gt backwoods, gary fisher aquila, etc...
Bike Setup:gt backwoods, race face craks, manitou fs ti shocks, magura hs-33 brakes, rynolite rims, surly singlespeed hubs, easton ea70 seatpost....etc..
Bottom Line:tempest was the bottomline aluminum frame when I bought it...a year later and several dropoffs to prove I cracked the headtube and sent the frame back for a new one...I got a backwoods on the return and it has been bulletproof for 6 years now...tempest would make a good commuter...not good for hard riding

Submitted by Erik Petersen a Weekend Warrior from Hudiksvall, Västernorrland, Sweden
Date Reviewed: August 17, 2004
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $1200.00
Strengths:- Total stiffness!
- Nice seat position
Weaknesses:None!
Bike Setup:paid 400 for the frame, shimano xtr, avid 2.0, onza barends, etc
Bottom Line:- Very good for trail!
- Not for people who like to drop from high heights or jump longdistances

Uses it to travel to the job and ride mountain trails with it at the weekend. Works perfectly for that suppose!

Submitted by David Monteiro a Cross Country Rider from Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, Pernambuco, Brasil
Date Reviewed: July 16, 2002
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $450.00
Purchased At:Bikerspoint
Similar Products Used:GT Ricochet 96 e Trek 850 94.
Bike Setup:Rockshox judy c 2001, guidão Scott strike, mesa Tranz-x, aros Alex TA19(28 furos dianteiro e 32 furos trazeiro), cubo Trek system4 dianteiro e Deore 2002 trazeiro, pé-de-vela Deore 2002 e sistema de marchas STX-RC.

Submitted by Mudguts a Weekend Warrior from Toronto, ON
Date Reviewed: June 8, 2000
Favoriate Trail:zig-zagging through mean toronto traffic
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:The triple triangle keeps the frame straight up top and the low riser bar keeps your jewels from getting squished
Weaknesses:the dropout bends easy and the headstock wore loose after two rides
Similar Products Used:Rockhopper comp S/E -Giant Iguana S/E
Bike Setup:judy C shocks, XT read, LX front, LX hubs and cassette, titec bars, WTB seat BRIGHT FRIGGIN ORANGE
Bottom Line:I like the bike but within a month, my hard riding had bent the rear drop-out severely. It spent 2 weeks in the shop and the LX rear derailer had to be replaced (with XT of course) See a picture at www.canadiancycle.com under pictures
