from Queens, N.Y.C. Date Reviewed: April 19, 2005 | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Purchased At: | 250 | | Strengths: | Light, fast, flexy, strong. Frame design is super strong for race-type mtb frame. Will never do aluminum cross bike again. Am completely spoiled forever. | | Weaknesses: | No disc bosses :( | | Similar Products Used: | GT Aggressor. Just started scratching the surface with that one. Strong frame, too. | | Bike Setup: | 19" frame(I'm 5'11"& 212) Mavic Crossride wheelset; FSA Carbon Pro crankset w/Platinum Pro steel bb; Specialized carbon fiber race bar w/5' backsweep; Thomson 100mm. stem; XTR shifters/brake levers; XTR front & rear deraillers; SRAM hollow pin chain; XTR v-brakes w/ Kool-Stop pads(stop on dime-get five cents change-they rock!) WTB Pro-V gel saddle w/ ti rails; Michelin XCR race all terra tires | | Bottom Line: | IF you can find one in good shape with or without chipped decals, brother or sister, BUY IT!! They're long out of production, but are they worth it esp. if you can find it used in good condition and cheap. And compred to if you see what new ti costs. V-brake technology will be with us for awhile and the options are getting better. Go for it, the ride alone is worth the price of admission. Like buttah, man. And freakin' fast. Take on Racerboy in his shaven-leg spandex-clad smugness anyday(provided you've done a measure of training prior) and see his tail go between his legs. My GOD, that's FUN! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$3000.00 | | Strengths: | light, strong, i am 230lbs and the bike has little flex, the flex it does have is predictable in turns, the weight of the bike is 19lbs due to the judy 100's. the bike tracks good and easy to hold your line. | | Similar Products Used: | this is the only ti-frame i have ever ridin. other bikes are my 1999 dbr x-6 6 inch in front and 5 inch in rear. 1996 raleigh m-80 alum-frame hard tail. | | Bike Setup: | frame bought at a auction in 2000, bike built with all xtr componets and brakes, 1999 judy 100mm forks, mavic-x 221 rims, xt hubs, ti handle bars, avenir stem, ti seat stem.
| | Bottom Line: | it's my understanding that gt made only one ti-frame for one year only and it is the lighting frame. so just for the rare factor alone this bike is worth having. i dont know how much this bike sold new in it's day. i payed $3,000.00 for the bike built new in 2000. with all the componets listed above except the forks, it came with rock shock sid 50mm. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1600.00 | | Purchased At: | james' sheffield | | Strengths: | bombproof. frame is still going strong although after 5 years, everything else has been changed. got a small size, 16", makes it quite chuckable | | Weaknesses: | won't wear out, no disc mounts | | Similar Products Used: | Kona, Dynatech, Marin | | Bike Setup: | Marz X-flys, XT on 517, Avid Vs, Times | | Bottom Line: | North Wales is probably a bit like Washington state for weather, this is a lovely xc bike that I use for racing enduro and just riding. getting a bit dated esp. trying to keep up with friends downhill when they are on slalom bikes, but it climbs like a dream. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$800.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Very forgiving frame. Long wheelbase for stability but never had problems getting it to climb or carve single track. Lokks very slick. | | Weaknesses: | None that I can think of. | | Similar Products Used: | None, this my first and only mountain bike purchased 3 years ago. | | Bike Setup: | Rigid Ti fork made in Poland. XTR/Bontrager wheelsets. LX crankset, shifters & brakes. Proshift rear derailier. Continental Wildgripper 1.9's (big part of bike's performance. Total weight is 22.5 lbs. | | Bottom Line: | They give these things away (I paid $800)and the component set is very servicable but not flashy. A good, cheap way to go Ti but alas, no more unless you find one on E-Bay. Five flamin' chili peppers for a fine bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$300.00 | | Strengths: | I've broken alumium and carbon frames so I figured I might as well buy the one material I can't break and that's titanium. Besides the durability of the frame, it's geometry is nice - this bike is built to climb! It's nice and light (my whole bike set-up is under 23 lbs.) and nice looking too! It is a forgiving ride - not as stiff as aluminum but not as flext as carbon - the perfect mix. Now I know why titanium is so darn expensive - it's the perfect material for Mtn. bikes! | | Weaknesses: | Only weakness (and it's minor) is the the Gt decals are cheesy and peel easily | | Similar Products Used: | 1997 Trek 9800 (carbon), 1999 Giant XTC SE2 (aluminum) | | Bike Setup: | 1999 Rock Shox Sid SL fork, XTR deraillers, kooka titanium cranks, XT V-Brakes, XT shifters, Kore stem, titec handlebar, XTR seatpost, SDG Saddle, Speedplay frog pedals, Mavic Crossride wheels. | | Bottom Line: | Well worth the 300 I spent on the frame (I did buy it used but in fantastic shape!) | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Charlottesville VA, US Date Reviewed: June 12, 2000 | | Favoriate Trail: | Blowingrock/Bonne NC | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | This's one of the hottest things I've ever ridden. It's light as a feather, and I've had no problems with it at all. It's not the most expensive bike, especially for what you get, and because it's titanium it will literally last forever. The shox on this bike are nice (glad not rock shox) along with other Shimano components. Overall great performance and I wish I had gotten it sooner. | | Weaknesses: | The longer frame was a little hard to get used to at first. Would be nice to have XTR cranks... | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized A1 Comp FS Intl (98), Cannondale F900 (97 & 99) | | Bike Setup: | LX (F Derailleur), XT (R Derailleur), XT Cranks/and both hubs, Manitou X-Vert Front Suspension, LX Brakes/levers, XT Rapid Fire (24 gear) | | Bottom Line: | If you're a big mountain biker but maybe don't have the biggest pocket book, this bike is definitely for you. Even if you do have a lot of money, it isn't worth wasting your money on more expensive bikes that aren't as good (like the one's I've tried). | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Caracas,Venezuela Date Reviewed: September 24, 1998 | | Bottom Line: | Well this is basically a test given that I spent 20 minutes typing my review on this bike the other day and the damn thing wouldn't go thru but what it basically said is that the bike delivers a lot for the money, feels like a good titanium bike should feel, and is exactly the same poop as the super expensive GT xizang that team GT has taken to the podium so many times. Also the welds on this frame look as good as on any other expensive Ti frames out there and the triple triangle thing looks good as hell on those slick, ball burnished tubes. Is this one goes thru expect a fully detailed review SOON!!!! | Overall Rating: |
