Favorite Trail:Forest of Dean
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:Leisure Lakes Uk
Strengths:Amazing quality frame for price, nice and light and very stable. powerful v-brakes grippy tyres and very capable group set and an RST 191 fork which is surprisingly good. i've done 600 miles + in 6 months and nothing has gone wrong at all.
Weaknesses:None, one thing i am slightly confused on though is that the '07 Aggressor should have rear disc mounts but mine does not. not bothered though because i've had no problem with the v-brakes.
Similar Products Used:Apollo XC.26s (Very poor Bicycle)
Bike Setup:Every thing is stock apart fom i changed the bar grips to ODI Yeti lock on's
Bottom Line:This is a great value rig that is much better than some bikes costing 10 times more in value.

Strengths:strong, light frame
Weaknesses:v-brakes
Bike Setup:upgraded to deore disc brakes
Bottom Line:cant say enough about this bike. bought it as n entry level bike to return to mountain biking after a long lay off. fully intended to upgrade to something far more expensive after a year but when it came to it i couldn't do it because i'd had so much fun on the gt and it felt wrong! i paid 200 quid to upgrade to disc brakes and the bike's even better now. given it some serious hammer on 30 mile off roaders in the Dales and Pennines over the summer and autumn and not encountered a single problem. highlight was bombing past a guy on a £2000 specialised on a steep road climb in the dales! doesn't matter how much your bike costs as long as it's reliable. at the end of the day it is your legs which do the work!!

Weaknesses:The forks broke (got new ones), both wheels bent (TWICE!) Gears suck they jump just ridin even after getting fixed! pedals rip your flesh off your legs! (got new ones) Overall the GEARS SUCK!!! Upgrade The V-Brakes to disc. O well i might as well say this: Upgrade this bike from the from up or dont even buy this bike! The rear axel has snapped clean 2 time now. its not a joke...

Strengths:The frame is great, brakes stop you on a dime. Shifting is easy to work and get in the gear you want with out missing.
Weaknesses:The front is bad it bottoms out going over small bumps or just going slow off a curb. The seat is hard. Replace these items soon after getting the bike and you will have somthing great.

Bottom Line:This is a GREAT starter bike for the price. Just change the forks and the seat and you will have a bike that is not just a starter, you will have something you will never want to sell. I looked at many other bikes and nothing in this price range comes close.

Price Paid: $400.00
Purchased At:Halfords UK
Strengths:Excellent light frame, V brakes. Mine also came with good quality metal pedals that stick to your shoes over rough ground.
Weaknesses:I replaced the saddle stem with a sprung type as the ride can be a bit rough otherwise, I would also recommend upgrading to a better saddle. The handlebars are a bit dodgy but after fitting bar ends on I have to complaints.
Similar Products Used:None
Bottom Line:After a couple of simple upgrades I would recommend this bike to anyone who wants to own a good bike. I use mine either on the road or trails so I don't know how it would perform on more "extreme" routes.

Purchased At:Halfords UK
Strengths:Extemely light frame and very stong. looks great! Brilliant chainset. The bike came with 2.2" tiogas and they rock. Smooth ride and comfey seat. The V brakes are great but i upgaded to hydrolics.
Weaknesses:This product wont take a good thashing with the original components and the bike as a whole deserves better forks than it comes with. The first thing i bought were a set of £500 Marzoccii bombers.
Similar Products Used:Specalized Hardrock
Bike Setup:Shimano Alivio rear durailleur, Tioga tires, Vulcan wheels, RST Cuba forks,GT headset and stem, Shimano Deore XT brakes and quick shift gears.
Bottom Line:Exeptional bike for your money espesialy since i had mine customised. But the bike with all origanl parts will not take a tharashing but excellent frame. If you want the bike for getting about on or just to have a cycle then you cant get much better for your money. Bike at original price uncustomised =£300-500. If anyone is buying the bike for rough racing or downhilling then be prepared to spend alot of money but when your finished giving that youve bouhgt quality parts then your a winner. If you are buying the bike for just getting oubout on or for cycling then you are also a winner.

Favorite Trail:Hagg Lake
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $515.00
Purchased At:Hawley's Bicycle World
Strengths:This bike is a great bargain for the money. The frame is strong but light. The V-type brakes are exceptional (I crashed doing an endo in the store).
Weaknesses:The fork is crap right from the get-go. Start with upgrading that to something better than Walmart-grade. The drivetrain components work well from the start, but w/ all second-rate componentry it doesn't last-upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, but first upgrade the seat!
Similar Products Used:Gary Fisher Hardtails
Bike Setup:Rock Shox Jett fork w/ Kore Stem. The rest is stock for now, till I get back to it.
Bottom Line:This bike is a great beginner-intermediate bike. I recommend it to anyone who wants to do anything from suburbia riding to beating the **** out of it on the trail. It is lightweight, responsive, and is a great buy. I haven't found anything that goes for under $800 that compares with this bike right off the shelf. Happy riding, hope this helps.

Strengths:Light, strong frame, smooth ride on and off road, comfortable seat, good value for money
Weaknesses:Crappy pedals (plastic)
Bike Setup:Deore drivechain and V brakes, Rock Shox, Shimano SPD's to replace tacky pedals, alexrims
Bottom Line:Apart from replacing the pedals, to something more practical and respectable, this bike not only gets me to work in central London but also comes away with me on holiday regularly. I paid more money for mine than most of the guys in the US but have better components/setup. I have really thrashed this bike downhill and have had no problems, just great fun. I think that some of you guys in the US (the overcritical ones) expect too much for your money. You get what you pay for.

Weaknesses:everything. do u want to know why the word "bob" was invented. well let me tell u why its because of these damm rock shocks jett [nothing against rock shock they do make some nice forks] this fork is a dizgrace to rock shock why on earth did they make this fork??? it even bobs when u r going on flat pavment [and i mean flat they just repaved my road. Well anyways if u upgrade everything on this bike it would probably make it like 15 pounds lighter and a nice freeride bike but as is it is trash.

Favorite Trail:Galloping Goose & No Horses
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $700.00
Purchased At:Fort St. Cycle
Strengths:Comfortable frame, weight and shocks handle well in technical situations, frame is somehow easier than I've seen in handling climb, gears work better than other bikes I've tried, looks good, and with the efficient design it actually makes me go faster than previous bikes I've owned.
Weaknesses:Have to agree the seat isn't the best, I paid a little more than I wanted to (although I am in Canada and things cost more here), I'm not wild about the handle bar design (would have had a straighter line), and the pedals are pretty weak.
Similar Products Used:I owned a KHS Montanna summit for eight years. While shopping for a new bike, I took out many bikes for a test. I was torn between a Trek 4900 and this one.
Bike Setup:Original setup straight from store floor still. I may upgrade in the future.
Bottom Line:The bottom line is...I have had this bike for two weeks. To be truthful, I paid a small tad more than I thought this bike was worth. But being a moderate rider in moderate conditions, I found this bike exceeded my expectations. It's weight and design make it a well suited bike for off-road and city biking all in one day. My only complaints would merely only fall in a cosmetic and comfort (comfort being seat, not the biggest obstacle). I find this bike has inspired me to push it farther as it feels so much better than any reasonably priced bike I've tried so far.

Weaknesses:Seat
Similar Products Used:Older Specialized w/out shocks
Bottom Line:I bought this bike new about 2 1/2 years ago for $420 (nice price)

I'm about 5"6 120-125pnds
Since then this bike has taken quite a few hard beatings, i've dumped and bounced it off sidewalks, a couple times badly. Flipped it, (the brakes are great) and twisted it all over the place and just in general neglected and abused it. I'm not the type of person who really takes care of the bike as well as others. I've also let teenage friends go and and just jump the hell out of it (and i'm not talking little jumps) they too dumped it and spilled it HARD a few times. I also let another friend for a full 8 months borrow it he's 6"2 220pnds he rode it EVERY weekday to work for about 15-20 miles. after all that it still rides great to this day. The only thing i've done to it is basic tune ups. I will say the gear shifting now isn't quite as smooth as it used to be but i think thats just because of the amount of abuse i've inflicted on it.

The only complaint i have about the bike is the seat. Otherwise it's stood up to an incredible amount of beatings. I'm suprised to hear people say the shocks were a problem. I find this bike to be quite light and VERY durable. Everyone i've lent it out to has been VERY impressed with its performance, weight, durability, and Especially with the price. Over all i'll be happy to purchase a later version of the GT aggressor (but at this rate i dont think i'll need to) This is the best bike i've ever owned.

Strengths:Great light, strong triple triangle frame, good Rock shox jett suspension performance, good deore, alivio and alcera combination, decent wtb rims, tioga tyres and decent alloy v-brakes. Also, excellent strong and light general componmentry. ie, seatpost, riser bar handlebar made from 6061 easton aluminium.
Weaknesses:Awkward gear cable routing, and got a high spec suntour groupset-but still-SUNTOUR!!! Absolutely poor pedals-awful, but everything else is good, high spec stuff.
Similar Products Used:Similar models of the higher spec carrera range at halfords plc.
Bike Setup:GT Agressor 1.0 2001
Bottom Line:Decent bike for the money, a serious off road bike from the hardtail aggressor range as its the top of the range from the aggressor series, you won't find a better bike for the money and indeed just over the price for this bike. GT give good spec at lower price and the bike is not comprimised in any way, best off all is the frame made for GT by easton-the king of aluminium-very light and strong, just change the pedels!!!!
