from The OC CA Date Reviewed: October 1, 2008
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Price Paid:
$5000.00
Purchased At:
The Path Bike Shop
Strengths:
Stiff frame, great climber, excellent descender, fairly light at 33 pounds as built. Steers really well considering the fairly slack head angle.
Weaknesses:
Not enough range of adjustment with the seat post due to the seat stay frame design.
Similar Products Used:
Ellsworth Evolve 29er. Niner RIP.
Bike Setup:
XT crank and cassette. SRAM X-0 shifters and rear derailer. Formula Oro Puro Disc Brakes with 180mm rotors. DT Swiss 440 hubs, 20mm front and 12mm rear. White Brothers Fluid-29 150mm Thru Axle fork.
Bottom Line:
I ordered this bike because I wanted a 6" travel 29er with a stout frame. This bike lived up to my expectations and is my bike of choice for everything except DH rides. The White Brothers forks are awful... but for the moment (10-1-08) I don't have any other choices for 20mm axle 6" travel 29er forks. That will be changing in the months to come but for now I just put up with the WB harshness.
