Strengths:Great frame. Great Price. Handles superiorly to my old 26er full suspension bikes overall. I think that this is because of the 29er wheels and Doug's attention to geometry for each individual. Custom is where it is at. 29 inch wheels have been great and I really feel that they work well with 29ers. I was not a big hardtail fan at all until I tried a 29er.
Weaknesses:Steel is not as light as Ti or aluminum. But it has a great feel and the price is right. Doug does take awhile to build, so if you are not patient, off the shelf may be better. But, if you can wait 4 months or so, it is worth it.
Similar Products Used:Niner one 9 is the other 29er hardtail I have owned.
    Bike Setup:XTR/XT, Reba etc.
Bottom Line:For a person that wants custom, is on a budget, doesn't need the blingiest looking frame (single color powdercoat is what you get)--just superb performance--Curtlo is a great way to go.

    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $800.00
    Purchased At:Doug
    Strengths:Custom @ production price
    Weaknesses:wait time?
    Similar Products Used:GF Rig
Bike Setup:1x9, Bushnell. Sometimes rigid, sometimes suspended
Bottom Line:What can you say. A full custom frame for about the same as a taiwanese production frame. Doug has been building steel frames forever and it is clear that he knows what he is doing. He absolutely nailed the geometry and the ride feel on my frame. The frame has just the right amount of give and is plenty stiff where it is supposed to be. As far as hardtails are concerned, it does everything perfect, as it should because it was made just for me. If you are looking for a custom, give doug @ Curtlo a try. It is a great experience and a tremendous final product.
