| Bottom Line: | I was a bit skeptical about air forks, but the 888 ATA has made me a believer. I spoke to a marzocchi tech and he told me to start out with 50psi in the top chamber and a 100psi in the bottom. This set up has worked for me and I'm over 200lb's. Never follow the marzocchi manual for air pressure. I may never go back to coil. BUY IT! |

| Strengths: | Light. Very Plush when broken in and the pressure is set right. As most are aware by now, Marzocchi's recommendations are way, way off. I'm about 195 lbs in gear and I run 65psi in the main and 95 in the PAR. I absolutely get full travel. A normal run down a "real" DH trail will normally get me all but the last 3/4" of travel. Most hard high speed hits will use all but the last 3/8" of travel. I have used absolutely all the travel maybe a half dozen times. It will basically only bottom when you need it most. Big drops don't really seem to do it. Nasty high speed hits are what will really do it. I bottomed it for the first time at the Angel Fire race last year. I hit one of those 12" high water bars in the high speed section after the hip at about 40 mph. I was dead tired and just couldn't lift the front at all. This fork just sucked it up and leveled that thing. Ziptie was all the way to the top after my run. I did have the ATA wind down issue, but Renegades fix with the heavier detent springs was an easy fix and now it works perfect. Overall, after a complete season on the fork, I am very happy with it and am running for another season. These forks will bottom without modification under the right circumstances (i.e. when you REALLY need it). If you fell you need to use all 8" of travel on the Sea Otter course then you probably won't be happy with it. Push the limits and it's an awesome fork. |
| Weaknesses: | Marzocchi's setup screwup. This is the most mis-understood fork out there. Marzocchi is largely to blame for their horribly wrong setup info. Get it setup right and it's awesome. The ATA problem is a drag, but easily fixable. |

| Bottom Line: | Great fork once you understand it. IMO way better then the Boxxer WC, which my son runs on his bike. Very plush in the initial stroke once it's broke in, very close to coil like feel, with less dive then a coil. Ramp up at the end is pretty stiff the last inch but the fork will use it when needed. I love it. To many guys dumped this fork after a parking lot test or a couple easy dh runs and really missed out. |

| Bottom Line: | This fork is light and very adjustable. The proper air pressures for this fork are way below what Marz recomends, and the par can never fall below the SFA pressure. Once you know these things the fork is easy to set up and feels great right out of the box. I will wait to do some serious riding/racing on this fork to see if I need to perform the ATA fix, and if I do then I'm not worried as it seems to be pretty simple. |

| Bottom Line: | This fork will be great after Marz repairs it for you and only if you can get it under $700. There is a quick fix you can do at home for the ATA knob but it is only temporary. Save up for the '08 or go with another Marz fork. I ride a Boxxer WC now and the 888 ATA does not compare. Used buyers go ahead if it has been repaired. I would not suggest for racers either. |

| Bottom Line: | This is a follow-up to my previous post. I have since had by 888 returned to me by Marzocchi, and, just as I assumed, they totally took care of all of the issues I had had, but beyond that, the turn-around on this fork was amazing: Marzocchi received my fork on a Friday and it was shipped to me the next Wednesday. In my previous posting I had said wait until next year to get this fork. However, further introspection leads me to conclude if you want a fork this light, with this much travel, and adjustable travel at that, it might be worth it to go ahead and buy this year because there is really nothing like it out there. I would argue there is a need for adjustable travel downhill forks - not all of us can shuttle or ride chairlifts, and that's where this fork really stands alone: it can be ridden up AND down the mountain. I hope to ride this fork for a good many years into the future. |

| Bottom Line: | used the fork for 1/2 hour on some very small wood skinnes to dial it in, the recommended PSI is way off that sticker that is on your fork and ata cap turn it self in full turn why does it even have this I don't want to change the travel plus when I removed the ata cap to check the air pressure it was filled with oil.Had to warranty the fork the same day I bought them is crazy just spent $1400 and have no fork and who knows how long it will be before I get them back and if it will just happen again don't buy them I had the choice to buy these or the 888rc2x but the 888rc2x were silver and I like the white and they know people like the white I wish I got the 888rc2x because I would be riding right now.will update |

| Bottom Line: | When this fork is working, it rocks - there is nothing out there like it - very light, awesome downhill performance. Unfortunately, this fork has some serious issues, issues that will probably go unoticed if you haven't ridden this fork hard for several months (notice the other postings are reviews of less than one month). Initially, my fork started leaking air out of the ATA cap - a bit disconcerting to see air bubbling up through oil - a problem that Marzocchi said would not affect the forks performance, and it didn't, in my case. Then my fork started winding down in its travel on its own. Right now, for every quarter mile I ride, I need to turn my ATA knob back four complete revolutions to get full travel once again. Marzocchi assures me they can fix these problems, but now I am in a waiting cycle - waiting for Marzocchi to get the parts so they can fix this problem (they say the leak will be a quick fix, too). Over the past five years I have had six Marzocchi forks, and I have loved their product. I have complete confidence that they will fix the problems with this fork, but I am pretty bummed right now, having spent some pretty big bucks for a fork that has this many issues. My advice - wait until next year to buy this fork, because when they iron out the problems with this fork, it's gonna be sweet. |

| Bottom Line: | Buy this fork! It is worth the money! I don't understand the need for the adjuster knob because I always the max travel, but when the bike is jumping or riding on bumps that last more than 50 ft long, The knob turns back to 170 mm which sucks when you are doing multiple cliffs with the travel decreasing on you :(. The forks performance more than makes up for it though and marzocchi is fixing it for me. I have taken it off of 20 fter's and no problem, no harsh bottoming, and the rebound can be adjusted to take a full three seconds to come back up or be adjusted to bounce you off the ground if you push on it. The compression adjustment is unbeliveable as well. Buy for FR and DH and maybe even extreme all mountain, I take on a 20 mile XC trail and it is fine, even urban assualt... | Strengths: | everything about it....i haven't come across any weakness as of yet I've ridden them over three weeks for about 25, 30 hours of riding and no problems. the fork feel great out of the box it doesn't feel like it needs bedding in at all. but after a few rides its even plusher. strengths are: it light weight (i don't know of a lighter triple clamp fork on the market), massive amount of external adjustment, and the fact the travel adjust can be set to what you want between 160mm and 200mm with 12 click (12 different heights) |

| Bottom Line: | I've had this fork for about 3 weeks now and i have to say the performance is amazing, I've hit step down gaps of over 12ft with a step down of over 7ft and cased the front on a stump during landing and haven't manged to bottom this fork out yet, the travel feels bottomless. In addition as a safety feature theres a bottom bottom out resistance adjust on the fork just for good measure. As fork adjustment I've never come across a fork that is so externally adjustable, there are 5 different adjustments that can be made externally to the fork: compression, rebound, preload, travel and bottom out resistance adjustments, all of which have a serious effect when played with. the travel adjust works differently to other forks that ive seen with travel adjustment. Rather than having just 200mm and 170mm settings 12 clicks of the adjuster on the fork allows you to set the travel between the two, meaning you can customize how much travel you want, effective tuning the head angle on your bike. a handy thing about being able to have this adjustment is if you have to ride your bike to your trails dropping the head angle down makes things much easier and then when you get there you've still got a full 200mm cosmetically I'm sure you will agree it looks mint especially with a white frame, i really like the fatty carbon graphics on the side of the lowers. finally the forks weight, it weights just under 6.5 lbs, 6 1/2 lbs for a top end triple clamp fork! if your undecided about this fork just buy it you absolutely wont regret it. full chilies and well done to Marzocchi |

| Bottom Line: | This thing surprised me how good it felt right out of the box, and just how adjustable it actually is. As firm or soft as you want it, as linear or progressive as you want it, as much travel as you want between 160-200mm. Right now, I can say for the price, definatly forget the 888 World cup, and go for the SL. I've been on it for only a week, and will post up something longer term later. Just had to post something now about how good it feels from the get go. She gets five flaming turds for now, lets see if problems develop... Initial impressions are good. |
