Purchased At:
Stock Fork on the Schwinn Ranger
Strengths:
It's a suspension fork and as such, it does soak up some of the harshness of the road. There's a distinctive whoosh sound as the suspension compresses. It's completely maintenance free and doesn't leak when you store the bike upside down.
Weaknesses:
It bottoms out VERY easily. Did I mention that it bottoms out? Oh yeah. There's no pre-load adjustment, and the steering response is gummy at best.

Bottom Line:
It's a suspension fork and to a certain extent, it will cushion your ride. I wouldn't recommend doing much more than normal commuting on asphalt and trail riding on hard packed dirt though.
From my experience, this fork bottoms out really easily - if you want to do a jump that's taller than a few inches, you should expect this suspension to bottom out. Also, because it's so loosely tuned, I find that it completely spoils any bike's natural handling.
If this came on your bike, I can understand why you own it. However, if you go out to buy this, well, I think you'll be better off with a non-suspension fork. Bottom line - it sorta works, but mostly it sucks.

Strengths:
it was cheap
Weaknesses:
it bottoms out on curbs, wheelies and i weigh only 100lbs. i went of a jump that flew 10 feet, over shot and my front wheel landed on the sidewalk and bottomed out so bad, the little plastic parts inside exploded, and i didint even care.

my friend has the more beefed up version, its fine.
Bike Setup:
dimondback peak 06, shimano 21 speed gears
Bottom Line:
it is really bad, if you do ANY jumps do not get this,it bottoms out super easy. but it is good for crusing.

Purchased At:
Came on bike
Strengths:
No maintenance required
Weaknesses:
Little travel, bottoms out super easily ( I only weigh 120 lbs. and it bottoms out going off a curb), has shock boots, not able to be adjusted, bad springs in it that are too soft but not plush at the same time
Similar Products Used:
ridden friends bikes with low end forks, but none of them bottom out this easily
Bike Setup:
Fuji Odessa with all stock parts
Bottom Line:
Only use it if it comes on your bike becasue then your bike is probably only made for wat this fork can handle. If u have spare money go ahead and upgrade to a low end rock shox or something with a more travel and maybe some adjustment options so it wont bottom out when you go off of curbs. I would reccomend this fork for someone who rides on smooth hardpack trails with no ruts, bumos, or rocks and someone who does not way a lot and doesn't mind not being able t oadjust thier fork.
