    Submitted by Daniel a Weekend Warrior from San Francisco Bay Area
    Date Reviewed: December 18, 2007
    Favorite Trail:anywhere off pavement (most especially mud)
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Purchased At:came stock on my low-end TREK 3900 hardtail
    Strengths:OEM(Original Equipment), cheap if it came on your bike. For commuting and EXTRA LIGHT XC (Cross Country) use.
    Weaknesses:EVERYTHING!!!

    * crappy preload
    * bad for mud, rain, etc.
    * maintainence heavy, suspension "fades" after an hour of riding after lubrication/maintainence
    * a bit heavy
    * either too soft or too stiff
    Bike Setup:TREK 3900, that's all you need to know
    Bottom Line:IF THIS COMES ON YOUR BIKE, replace it if you actually ride off-pavement. IT IS ONLY GOOD FOR SMOOTH PAVEMENT COMMUTING. If you purchased it separately, you wasted your money.

    Any "true" mountain-biker should sell this fork ASAP. It will only lead to problems down the road. It is a POS.....

    Favorite Trail:anywhere off pavement
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Purchased At:Celmar Cycle (came w/ bike)
    Strengths:It's an actual suspension. Not much maintanence needed if you don't care about the performance of the suspension.
    Weaknesses:Preload completely stumps new riders like me. Too stiff for me (I weight 180lbs). It seems to "fade" away right after it's taken from the shop and used. Information about this fork is difficult to find (on the internet, anyways).
    Bike Setup:mostly stock TREK 3900 w/ Shimano Deore rear derailleur, fork (Spinner Insync Grind 1) came w/ bike
    Bottom Line:It's only good for entry level riders who don't like tuning things or don't care about suspensions. For those of you looking for info on this "insync grind" fork, take a look at these links:

    Favorite Trail:Mt leonard
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Purchased At:came on my old bike
    Strengths:ummm cheap i guess, fairly responsive on the trail
    Weaknesses:preload is weak, short travel, bottom out easy expesicialy off drops 3+ foot
    Similar Products Used:none that compare
    Bike Setup:this was my old bike, Mongoose tyax comp all standard but with a shimano hollowteck crankset and shimano Deore LX rear derailer. My current bike is a shogun floater wiht suntour XCR forks, Alex DM18 rims, Alivio drivetrain, Maxxis Bling Bling tyres
    Bottom Line:i hated these forks, they are crap for anything other then light XC or commuting and the preload broke off a 3 ft drop.....3FT!!!!!!, i would suggest sumthing like my current forks (SR Suntour XCR 100mm travel), much nicer feel and not too pricy!!
