    Price Paid: $900.00
    Purchased At:Stenger
Strengths:Light weight, nice fork when it worked
Weaknesses:Reliability, Fox suspension's poor customer support and warranty, Fork Lock-up faild sometimes, Oils must be changed often due to very low oil quantities on talas(laft leg) side.
    Bike Setup:Specialized Stumpjumper -06
Bottom Line:This is Talas -06 RL -review(not RLC)!!!
I used to like this fork. When it worked it was great, but... After riding an year, the fork talas(left)-side started to leak dark oil. I opened the fork and realized the left slidepipe had worn out very badly. I know also couple of other people who have had same problem with Fox forks. They didn't got their forks fixed either, even if the warranty was valid.

Favoriate Trail:50-Year & its many tributaries
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Purchased At:LBS
    Strengths:Full adjustability
    Weaknesses:What's that?
    Similar Products Used:Manitou
    Bike Setup:Titus Moto-Lite
Bottom Line:Included in bike package, and clad I opted to go all out. This fork is awesome. Full adjsutability is spot on with Fox recommendations, but also fun to tweak for certain circumstances. My most common adjustments are the travel, which is very easy. Lockout is easy to switch on the fly. Very solid feel, adding confidence to sketchy/rocky descents. Rails bermed singletrack like nothing... very responsive. I'd agree completely with a previous reviewers comparison after riding Manitou Black... this fork definitely raises the bar and sets a standard. Only thing "missing" is the Terra Logic valvine (which can be simulated anyway). A friend has the FX100, and has had some problems with the Terra-Logic, so I'm glad not to have to deal with that (when it's working, it's sweet... when it's not (sent back to dealership/Fox twice)...

I'm looking forward to a long relationship with this set up!

    Favoriate Trail:Boggs
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Purchased At:bicycle garage
Strengths:Stiff, great tune-ability, effective adjustments, does what it claims
Weaknesses:hard to adjust knobs with gloves on
Similar Products Used:Rock Shox Psylo, Duke, others, Manitou, Marzocchi z1
Bike Setup:2003 Giant AC2, Fox TALAS & RP3, XT hubs/Mavic 823(?) rims, Thompson seat post, WTB seat, left over stem, carbon bars, 2.1 Nevagals
Bottom Line:I keep a log on my riding hours, conditions, style of riding, etc--I just hit 103 hours over the last 13 months on the TALAS with no problems--this is a great fork--very versatile, wide range of adjustments, does everything as advertised--handling the 8" rotor seems to be "no problem" I wish I had the new 140mm version--I would buy this fork again! Sorry, I don't recall what I paid for it.

Favoriate Trail:All trails that allow bikes
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $325.00
    Purchased At:private sale
Strengths:Stiff, while super smooth action, range of adjustability is sweet, lockout with threshhold = platform!
Weaknesses:Going from 130mm to 100mm seem to make the shock "softer" as far as the air spring is concerned, but hardly an issue.
Similar Products Used:Manitou Mars Elite, Fox Float 130, Manitou Axel Comp
Bike Setup:Giant VT3 frame w/ Manitou Swinger 4-way (and No Tools Volume Adjust) and Fox TALAS RLC, Juicy 5, SRAM X.0/9 drivetrain (except for LX FD), WTB Laser Disc w/ Mavic XC717
Bottom Line:Got it new at a super, great price! While it is not Push'd (yet!), it is very smooth in its full range of travel.

I love the adjustability. Compression to surpress some of the nose dive during braking; travel adjust for climbing/descending; lockout w/ threshhold for that "platform" feel.

Never loses pressure. '06 introduced the brake cable housing guide, which reduces cable rub. This fork can really take a beating, and still feel like new.

Highly recommend this for the rider that is experiences a full range of varied trails, and want the smooth action of a Fox. Otherwise, the lighter Float 130 is a lighter, less complicated alternative.

    Price Paid: $450.00
    Purchased At:local private seller
Strengths:Light, strong, smooth. What else is there?
Weaknesses:It is pretty expensive for a fork.
Similar Products Used:Manitou Minute 1. Other manitou and marzocchi forks.
Bike Setup:Turner 5-spot. Wheels built on King hubs.
Bottom Line:Great 5" fork. Much stiffer than my 04 manitou minute, which at 130mm felt like a noodle sometimes. This fork is a little shorter A to C than the minute, but works great on my frame. I must admit the fork is now "pushed", but that just makes a good fork a great fork. Yeah, its expensive, but its worth the extra $.

Strengths:best fork out there, five adjustments that really work, you can kick the hell out of it and comes back for more, looks great on my fuel 90 blue
Weaknesses:air valve cap a little tough to operate with my saussage fingers, but it never leaks so fill and forget.

Bottom Line:best fork for multitude of conditions i could throw at it and all that with 3.93 lbs... I thought it was a little pricy but now i think i would have payed more had i knowen its quality performance... I'm a large boy of 50yrs young at 220 lbs and have been riding since 1973 hard core mountain biking since late 70's this is by far the best suspension i've used yet, if your thinking of upgrading Your bike do it with this component, You won't regret it.

Bottom Line:Great product. If your serious about riding and you must have the best products then this is the fork for you. I would but this again only i might be opt to buy the new Fox talas x tt. You can trail tune these. But overall i have been riding these forks for a little under a year and have had no problem with them. Only perfect performace. Buy em if ya can afford em.

    Favoriate Trail:Anything bumpy
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $675.00
Purchased At:Velo Pro Santa Barbara, CA
Strengths:Extremely adjustable, versatile and light weight. Integrated brake hose fastener a nice touch.
Weaknesses:Color of the adjustment dials fade easy, but only cosmetic. Travel adjust could be less than 3mm increments for faster adjustment.
Similar Products Used:'03 Fox Talas R, '05 Manitou Sherman Firefly +, '02 RockShox Pilot SL, '04 Fox Float RLC
Bike Setup:'03 Gary Fisher Sugar 2+ (un-Bontragered), Fox RP3 shock, King headset, Easton EA70 stem, seatpost, & carbon bars, Hayes Mag brakes, Mavic 819/XT wheelset, Conti Vertical UST tires, WTB Laser Team saddle, Xpedo Mag/Ti pedals
Bottom Line:Not that my '03 Talas R was bad, I really wanted a lockout and compression dampening. An expensive upgrade if you have an OEM Talas R (without a buyer for your old fork).

Although there is no stable platform valving, the low speed compression tuning does the trick. Fox finally got this feature working on the '06 float/talas forks. It can be fine tuned to eliminate any bobbing while keeping it supple. Also, using lockout on with threshold full open for a quasi platform performance, is kinda cool.

A "must have" fork for your trailbike.

Submitted by Jim Sidney a Cross Country Rider from Cranberry Twp. PA USA
    Date Reviewed: January 15, 2006
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $625.00
    Purchased At:Gatto's Wexford PA
Strengths:Incredibly supple but still handles big hits without complaining. It doesn't get stiff in the cold. The adjustments work with predictable precision.
Weaknesses:The Talas air cap which covers the Shrader valve is difficult to grasp. Otherwise this product has been flawless.
Similar Products Used:OEM Psylo, Manitou, Manitou Lefty (not bad), RockShox Black, Reba, everything available for a test drive
Bike Setup:2003 Enduro Pro mostly still oem with the exception of Race Face Atlas gears and cranks.
Bottom Line:It butters roots and terrain chopped by horse hooves without nose diving under aggressive braking. The travel is so predictable that you can forget that it is working for you. The Talas is fantastic for aggressive all mountain use and far exceeded my expectations.

    Price Paid: $625.00
    Purchased At:Local Shop
Strengths:Super Plush, 5+ Inches of travel, lightweight, versatility (you can adjust just about everything)
Weaknesses:Price. Looking around, I got a great deal ($625 Installed).
    Similar Products Used:Various Manitou forks.
Bike Setup:'04 Specialized FSR XC Pro Frame, '06 Fox Talas 130 RLC Fork, '04 Fox Float RL Rear Shock, Avid Mech. Disc Brakes, Shimano Deore XT (Both derailleurs, Cassette, etc.)
Bottom Line:After trying out different Maintou forks, I decided to give Fox a try. I wasn't disappointed in the Manitou forks, but I felt I could get better. This is the first Fox fork I've owned, and it is FANTASTIC. It is super smooth, and can take some serious hits. And the blow-off valve is an awesome feature. It locks out until it takes a hit (you can adjust how big of a hit it takes to blow it), then it releases. Awesome feature. You can also adjust everything, giving it a whole different character. It's pricey, but if you can afford it, GET it!
