    Favoriate Trail:keystone
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Purchased At:came on bike
    Strengths:light, pretty plush
Weaknesses:it came on my first real bike kona kikapu and the shop must have underestimated me when i want it for jumps and downhill trails. I took it to colorado and broke the fork. I know this is not intended use, but i was basically bombing everything on the mountain and the whole bike groaned and moaned (i bent one of the pivot points) The fork suddenly lost 1/2 its travel but it has slowely been getting it back.
Similar Products Used:other stock forks, a few DH/FR forks
Bike Setup:Iron Horse 7point3, DHX3.0, Marzocchi Jr. T, hussefelt stem, funn bars, WTB dual duty rims, maxxix, hussefelt cranks, e13 bash, hayes 9
Bottom Line:Great fork for its intended use, dont take it on the DH runs tho. Very soft now, but it was too stiff for me (i weighed about 140) before it broke.
I wouldn't buy this as an upgrade fork, becuase it is old and you can probably find a newer better fork for cheaper.
DONT BUY MANITOU EITHER, IVE HAD TWO FORKS BUST ON ME WHILE RIDING INTENDED USE. (stance blunt 150mm and sherman breakout+ 170)

Strengths:stiff, plush, with air spring, smooth riding.
i can go through the roots faster than earlier and i know that my front wheel is always on the ground and i wont lose control of my bike. Air spring allows to pump it how hard you want also it has rebound adjuster.
    Weaknesses:no lockout, heavy a bit.

Strengths:Looks, Ease of operation, good quality materials, nice information manual. All around great product
    Weaknesses:NONE
    Similar Products Used:SR suntour, FOX
Bike Setup:Raleigh Hardtail,2005 Nothing in the bike is stock but the frame.
Bottom Line:Bottom line, the best forks in the market with also the best price.

Good rebound, perfect balance of cushioning and stability infinite settings for different situations and weights. Pump is a must to have good accurate adjustment. I'm 185Lbs and I run 38psi and have never bottomed the forks even when I accidentally had a wheelee down some steep hills.
The amount of control gained after having these forks installed is just amazing.

    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $250.00
    Purchased At:online
Strengths:Light, stiff, plush. I am comfortable riding at higher speeds. No leaks, hasn't lost any air pressure since I've owned it.
    Bike Setup:Steel hardtail
Bottom Line:Don't let the low price fool you. This is a high performance fork without all the nobs, gimmicks and remotes. I wish I had the same exact fork with about an inch more of travel... maybe when the '07s come out.

Favoriate Trail:VT has too many to choose from
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $298.00
    Purchased At:Jensen
Strengths:light; plush; stiff; lack of plastic parts
Weaknesses:stickers came off with application paper; manual
Similar Products Used:'91 Manitou 1; '00 Maitou SXR; '98 Marzocchi Z2 BAM; '02 Manitou Mars Comp Coil
Bike Setup:'02 Marin Eldrige Grade; XT/Deore; Avid SD 2.5; ODI lockons; Club Roost XC riser; Cane Creek S3 headset; WTB velociraptor rear; still looking for a good front tire for up here...
Bottom Line:THIS IS AN INITIAL IMPRESSION REVIEW (two off-road rides. Updated review may follow at end of season)

Riding style: XC; no drops over 3', no big jumps

The terrain: classic Northern New England singletrack: more roots than rocks, with lots of dips and very, very tight. Long, technical climbs and long technical descents.

Out of the Box: Smooth install. Fork has small tab cut out on crown to allow removal of old crown race. Non-disc brake posts are not installed. Had to look up torques in other manual. Manual is pretty, but has info for ALL Marzocchi forks and it is hard to find the MX comp.

On the trail: nice. It is very smooth for an air fork the travel is plush through its range. I could notice no stiction at all. It is laterally stiff and tracks very predicably even in tight, technical singletrack. No drops, yet, but hit hard on a hard-edged dip. Fork bottomed, but not noisily. No change, no leaks. Used factory set damping.

Minor concern: It has 5mm more than my old fork. It raised my front end, but only enough to notice. However, it is so plush that it allows me to go faster than before. This gets me in trouble because I'm on a steel hardtail; the front is plush but the back now jumps around if I'm not paying attention.

Overall: Impressed so far. I have not adjusted the damping yet and have been happy with factory setting. I never adjusted my damping on the trail and don't see the internal adjustment as a deficency. I can really feel the lightness of the fork compared tothe coil Mars.

personal note to defer guilty conscience for buying mail order: I bought this fork mail order, but my entire drivetrain that I installed at the same time as the fork was purcased at local shops that I rode to rather than drove.

    Date Reviewed: July 27, 2006
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $250.00
    Purchased At:Bikestacja
    Strengths:Looks nice, works great
Weaknesses:Stickers can tore off easily (so what?)
Similar Products Used:some RST, Suntour's...(no comment)
Bike Setup:from stx to xtr, mavic x221 rims, dt swiss spokes, pdm-540 pedals, fsa, amoeba, 17,5 alu frame, 2,25" Schwalbe BlackJack Sport front and Panaracer Fire XC Pro 2,1" rear
Bottom Line:I'm using this fork less than a week, but difference between other stuff I've tried and this one is big. Maybe it's not a race fork for 1000$ but for my XC rides suits well. I think MX Comp is the best you can get for 250$

    Date Reviewed: June 26, 2006
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Purchased At:Craig McMartin Cycles
Strengths:Cheap and quiet (generaly a good budget fork!)
Weaknesses:None realy for the price except the stickers peel off!
Similar Products Used:Cheesy Sun tours! (they were nasty!)
Bike Setup:Kona frame with formula ORO K29 brakes, Mavric cross ride wheel set, shimano deore gears.
Bottom Line:This fork feels really good and I have no complaints about its performance so far, however I have only had it for few months so time will tell! I have the fork set up quite hard with little rebound which suits me however I do wish I spent the extra few pounds on the same spec of fork but with a lockout system. On the whole this fork will suit a novice like me who wants to upgrade from a crap fork without breaking the bank!
