I don't feel the flex that everyone talks about (maybe I weigh to little). Shocks have not disappointed me at all. I've had shocks in the past that have just blown seals and had to ride back to the trail head compressed several times. I'm not an aggressive rider. I do like to go fast on downhills and through rock gardens (small compared to you mountain riders!), but we do have them here in the midwest :-)

Help you a lot when going up with the weight and the pop lock-out give you a incredible aceleration when you are going uphill or sprinting.
When going down you have to be a litle good, because the flexibility of the fork can give you some problems if you do a handle bad.
