Strengths:very plush, coming from a '96 judy xc I mean the confidence I now have riding over stuff is unparalled.
Weaknesses:ETA, honestly, if you live in mid atlantic where we have hills and not long climbs you just wont use it. It doesn't make sense to use this feature unless you are in a sustained climb. The fork is really heavy, I'm guessing just by holding it it weights a solid 7 pounds. Trying to overhaul it is damn near impossible. The manual is no help and it says fork maintenance should be performed every 6 months. If you are like me and not comfortable overhauling your own fork factor that into the total cost of ownership

    Bike Setup:'96 litespeed obed xt/xtr
Bottom Line:shock is great when it's on the bike, no doubting that. But, definite downside is weight, but more so is the difficulty in overhauling the shock, which is required fairly frequently. It's a good buy if you aren't concerned with having a super light XC bike and don't mind experimenting with your own fork maintenance

Strengths:I love this fork. The ETA feature is amazing. You can climb so much better with this feature. I put this fork on my Kona Blast hard tail. I couldn't believe the difference.
Instead of a lock-out you can use the ETA feature which lowers the fork and the front end of the bike. My climbing game improved 25% overnight with this fork.
Weaknesses:Took a little time and money at the bike shop to dial it in. The bike shop didn't like that I purchased it online..even though it was 100 below his cost.
    Bike Setup:@005 Kona Blast Hardtail
    Bottom Line:I love this fork.

Strengths:Everything. My 4th suspension shock, the the best yet. Love the eta. It handled my weekend at mammoth. never took it off anything over 3 feet, but it did well. there seems to be some flex in the fork, but havn't had any issues due to it. It could by my new rims that are flexing.
    Weaknesses:N - O - Z - row
    Similar Products Used:RS, Fox
Bike Setup:4.7 front, 4.5 rear, all xt drive
Bottom Line:Buy it. It will not disappoint. I may sell mine since I am buying a new bike, and I really dont want to get rid of it. I love this fork. It saved by arse many times. The best was a 3 foot log jump that I managed to land all front wheel. With my old fork I would have face planted. Instead I just looked like a clown with some testicular bruising from the saddle.

    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $270.00
    Purchased At:Greenfishsports.com
Strengths:Plush, Stiff, adjustablity, Price was pretty good too.
Weaknesses:All the warning/safety stickers that were on it when I got it were a pain in the ass to remove.
Similar Products Used:Rock Shox Judy, Rock Shox Psylo, Manitou Black
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher Piranha all XT and Raceface, Mavic wheels
Bottom Line:I've got about 85 miles on this sucker so far and it rocks. Takes everything I've thrown at it (3' drops, 4' log piles etc.)and asks for more. Climbs and steers very well.

The only problem I had with this fork is my plastic rebound knob fell off. I can still slip it on and adjust it if I want to which I don't, because it didn't come off until after I had set it up.

    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $270.00
    Purchased At:Jenson USA
Strengths:Travel adjustments, plush performance, air assist is nice.
    Weaknesses:None.
    Similar Products Used:Rock Shox Recon
Bike Setup:01 Jamis Dakar frame, full 8spd XT drive train, Ryno Lytes, Avid BB7's and Speed Dial 7 levers
Bottom Line:This is just a great fork. This is my 2nd Marzocchi fork (had 2000 Bomber that still worked fine when I replaced it)and I believe it will not be my last. I weigh over 200lbs and I've not bottomed it out and with the coil in one leg and the air assist in the other, I didn't have to switch out springs to get it set for me weight.

The rebound is a little tricky because it doesn't let you set it beyond a point where it will bunch up on you. It's only a narrow range of adjustment and it's not really noticeable until you ride it for a while. Not a problem for me.

I enjoy being able to set the fork up for different terrain. If I know I'll be doing steep decents and a lot of climbing, I can set it to 130mm and use the ETA to shorten it 30mm when I'm not going down hill. This is great for one of my fav local trails, Slope Creek, where it's just a long down hill section and a little trails on the top of the hill.

Marzocchi just makes a great product. Very satisfied with my purchase. Would highly recommend for an all-mountain/trail rider. May be a little heavy for a serious x-country rider.

Strengths:This is for the '06 MX Pro Eta with TAS.Well made, reliable, easy to service. Smooth and plush. Good price from CRC.
Weaknesses:When using the eta there is a noise like the fork topping out. This may be related to oil level.
Similar Products Used:'01 Marzocchi Z2 Atom Race. Brilliant fork, still going strong.
Bike Setup:'06 Santa Cruz Superlight. Fork set to 100mm travel
Bottom Line:Smooth and reliable. Fork is easy to set up with air pre load and rebound adjuster. Have changed the oil to 5 weight, seems to make it more responsive to small bumps. I'm wondering if clonking noise from eta is related to oil level?.

    Strengths:TAS, ETA (when works properly)
Weaknesses:problem with ETA not locking - resolved by warranty replacement, brake hose support placement
    Similar Products Used:RockShox J3
Bike Setup:Specialized FSR XC, full XT, Juicy 7
Bottom Line:Good for riders to 85kg (30mm stanchions). Travel can be set between 100 to 120mm on left leg. Good range for rebound settings on right leg. And ETA is beautiful on climbs and roads. Do not forget replace oil after first 100 miles (or about 200km approx.). Critical is left leg, where ETA is. I'm using Motorex Race Fork Oil 7.5 - not cheap, but works better than Marzocchi original.
If you like riding in mud, buy brake hose holder ($6). When using original support, I thing hose is too curvy and too close to muddy wheel.
Left leg oil level is critical for ETA. If too low, ETA can suck air. If too high, You can not use full travel. Note , that when new, both legs are overfilled with oil, so when replacing put in right 130cc(milliliters) and in left 105cc. Try ETA - if works its ok, if no add 5cc and so on.
Finally try ETA after 2-3 hours after oil replacement.

Strengths:Smooth, plush travel. Lock out works nicely.
Weaknesses:The SSVF damping valve doesn't do a whole lot. Barely noticeable difference across the range.
Similar Products Used:Marzocchi Gran Fondo 1
Bike Setup:05 Dakar Sport, stock except Panaracer Fire XC Pro's and this shock.
Bottom Line:I needed a quick replacement for the brand new Manipoo Splice Super that locked up in less than 30 miles on a new Dakar. I chose Marzocchi becouse of their reputation for quality. They have done good again. A nice, smooth coil fork with air assist. Very plush and smooth as Marz usually is. Not sure about the SSVF valve technology, the rebound isn't as tuneable as other Marzocchis. I'm going to contact tech support about this to see if it's normal.

    Favorite Trail:Surrey Hills
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $400.00
    Purchased At:Cycleopedia, Surrey, UK
Strengths:Lightweight, ETA, great plush ride on trails, great price for the travel and weight achieved on this fork
Weaknesses:Rebound and Travel adjustment are at the bottom of the fork can get annoying when adjusting rebound. (I also wish they came in black like the MX COMP, no worries though)
Similar Products Used:Manitou Axcel Comp 05, FOX TALAS 130 (great, but couldn't afford them though)
Bike Setup:Specialised Rockhopper 05, Hope Mono Hydraulics 180F 165R, Shimano M545 Free-Ride Pedals, Specialized Alias Comp Saddle, etc.
Bottom Line:This is a great fork for those doing serious xc riding, I had a Manitou Axcel Comp Fork as a standard part with the bike and after a few hours of trail riding my arms went numb and obviously affected my rides. Since getting this fork Ihave been able to ride harder and when taking on hits the fork socks the hits, the ride is so plush when needed and the ETA function is great on long hill climbs, easy to maintain, FOX Talas 130 forks are also a great pair of forks but couldn't afford them and I would say these are the next alternative, great set of low priced forks,If you generally ride on hard trails and want the lightweight and don't jump too steeply then these are more than good enough for you, great work Marzocchi.
