Weaknesses:the bushes and internal design(regarding to the lowers)is farkin terrible im amazed marzocchi would put its name to such a dodgy design. heavy. and the importer will give you no help at all. iv'e been waiting 6.5 months now for my bushes and seals(which is ridiculous)

Bottom Line:if your a racer don't even think about these forks. good chassis and dampening, let down by a joke of a bushing design.

    Date Reviewed: September 17, 2007
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Purchased At:evans cycles
Strengths:stiff, plush (after bedding in period)
    Weaknesses:only getting 180mm travel
    Similar Products Used:drop off triples
    Bike Setup:scott high octane 06
Bottom Line:nice plush forks, strong, easy to maintain, compression and rebound damping externally adjustable at bottom of legs, cant adjust preload or adjust with air which is a bit pants, as even the drop offs have that facility, only getting 180 mm of travel, will try and adjust oil levels, any help appreciated, i weigh 165lbs. bottom line in the uk you can get them £350 in shops so for a downhiller on a budget you cant go wrong.

    Favorite Trail:Old Bathurst Road
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:strong, plush feel (first 2 weeks)
Weaknesses:a little heavy, after 2 weeks springs started rattling as though they were not long enough. another couple of weeks and they're topping out. Tried contacting Marzocci a couple of times they still haven't gotten back to me and my bike shop doesn't seem to know SFA about the 888's.
    Similar Products Used:fox 40RC2
Bike Setup:Kona stab deluxe, 888's, dhx5.0, saint rd, xtr sl, mtx, gazzalodi 3"
Bottom Line:The fork felt good when new but with the way they are now and the help from Marzocci, which so far there has not been any, I would not buy these forks no matter how good of a deal I got.

    Favorite Trail:antthing pointing down
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Purchased At:Direct from Norco
Strengths:plush, stiff, looks hot, not that heavy for a cheap 8" fork
Weaknesses:Lost one of the adjustment knobs on the first real ride back in june and its still on back order
Similar Products Used:JR T's, Monster T (friends bike)
Bike Setup:05 Norco A-Line, 888 VF2 w/ 05 crowns, Mavic 729s on Hadley hubs, RF Diabolus stem, bar, cranks X9 drive train, E13 chain guide.
Bottom Line:This is a great fork for the price even at retail. Even though I like the fork I am selling it because I rode a 07 RC2X recently and fell in love with the way it rides.

Strengths:everything!!! smells good, looks good, 8 inches of travel. its a Marzocchi!!!!

Bike Setup:2005 stinky dee... chris king headset, 888 v2, saint crank and bb, maxxis minion 2.5 super tacky, truvativ guide, and so on......
Bottom Line:Ive had the fork on now for about 3 months and i have no complaints. Marzocchi does a great job with their forks. Its not an rc or fox 40 but i think it does the job for a fork under $1000. it hasn't given me any trouble and once i messed with the oil and compression/rebound settings the fork works just the way i like it.

    Date Reviewed: June 1, 2006
    Favorite Trail:uncomfortably numb BC
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $650.00
    Purchased At:"TheFix" Boulder,CO
    Strengths:Stiff, 8inches, It's a Marzocchi
Weaknesses:Had to mess with oil level a bit to get it dialed in, to much oil and i would only use 6-1/2 inches even on big drops (i'm 160lbs). not enough oil, you could crank up the compression to compensate but would not get enough rebound (would top out). Once you get it dialed in to your liking, it's an awsome fork.
Similar Products Used:all Marzocchi, 03 Freeride SL, Junior T's, 66VF2
    Bike Setup:Rocky Mountain RMX
Bottom Line:2005 888RC's are getting cheaper, if ride height is not an issue then they are probably worth checking out. for similar price you can find a 2006 888VF2 which comes with flat crowns, which is a costly up grade for the older forks.
This fork may be perfect for you right out of the box (body weight, riding stye,etc..) but if not, it's pretty easy to get it dialed in, and it's worth it.

    Date Reviewed: May 28, 2006
    Favorite Trail:Fontana
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $580.00
    Purchased At:not telling
    Strengths:- super plush
    - durable
    - strong
    - decent adjustability
    - looking sharp! (in the white color)
    - made in Italy
Weaknesses:- a tid bit on the heavy side
    - soft (I weigh 170)
Similar Products Used:- Boxxers (WC, Race, Team) Dorados, older model 888, 66 vf / rc
Bike Setup:SWD Racing Crazy 8 frame, 888's, shimano tranny, avid brakes, maxxis rubber
Bottom Line:Awesome fork. Super plush because Marzocchi's got their open bath design dialed. Stong for the big hits (although you may want to upgrade to stiffer springs). Good small bump sensitivity and very smooth operating. Low stack height and good looks to match.

    Date Reviewed: May 16, 2006
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $700.00
    Purchased At:Bow Cycle
Strengths:The biggest thing I noticed was how much the bike wants to jump and fly over obstacles. I was worried the shorter length of the '06 888 would make me feel less confident on super steeps. Not so, this fork has inspired new confidence.
    Weaknesses:None so far.
Similar Products Used:03' Super T Pro
Bike Setup:SC Bullit, SRAM, Mavic, Saint X-Drive, Hayes HFX-9, 888.
Bottom Line:Fantastic fork, strong and buttery smooth. Makes drops easier. The bike is also more agile because of the shorter crown and lighter weight.

    Date Reviewed: February 5, 2006
    Favorite Trail:Platinum
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
    Purchased At:Life Cycles
Strengths:Really plush and strong but still has the resistance to some fairly major hits. Handles great in rough rocky/rooty sections.
Weaknesses:For some people the fact that the adjustments are on the bottom might be a downside but I kind of like it that way. Other than that its perfect.
Similar Products Used:Junior T, Super T, Monster T, Boxxer Race
    Bike Setup:2006 Specialized Demo 8 One, 888 VF2, Fox DHX 4.0, Mavic 325 rims
Bottom Line:The fork handles awsome in rough sections and is really plush. I did a 12 foot drop and nosed it a bit but still had couple of inches of travel left, which to me is great considering how plush I had it. Over all this is a great fork for freeride, downhill to me, and just some all around hucking and is very adjustable to your riding style.
