Submitted by Marco Reinbrecht a Cross Country Rider from Kaiserslautern, Germany
    Date Reviewed: February 2, 2008
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $300.00
    Purchased At:Online store
    Strengths:Stiffness when braking is acceptable.
Weaknesses:Stiffness towards the sides is way to low. The damping is far too tight. Therefore the bike's front bounces over obstacles instead of the fork working. As Carlo has already ridden one could use a rigid fork instead. Fork leaked oil.
Similar Products Used:Suntour XCP, Manitou Skareb, Manitou R7, Rock Shox Jett
    Bike Setup:Lightweight Giant hardtail.
Bottom Line:I really regretted buying it. Maguras very expensive support didn't help either.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $280.00
    Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:Extremely good quality(just like their motorcycle stuff). The adjustability of these forks seems excellent, changes on the clickers makes real differences to the forks characteristics.Changes in air pressure are also very noticeable.
Running a 7" disk and I weigh 92kg(200+lbs) and there appears to be no flex.
    Weaknesses:Please explain?
Similar Products Used:My sons suntour rubbish,1974 crossrider monoshock(better than the suntour of 2006 haro shift).
    Bike Setup:1995? Balance AL250,Magura Ronin,Shimano 7" disc,avid v-brake rear,avid speed dial levers, old fart pedaling.
    Bottom Line:Magura Ronin 110.
I am 43 and have just to ride my mountain bike again after a few years. After racing motor cross for years and still going, I have a fair idea of how a good fork should work, these seem to fit the bill.
Magura has been making quality gear for motorcycles for longer than I can remember(I have a 1972 husky CR250 with Magura controls). This quality is obvious in these forks.
With what I paid for these, value is through the roof.
A faster younger rider may find fault with these but I doubt it.With right adjustments, and there is plenty, I believe they could suit anyone.
The bloke who reckons they don't react quickly enough and that they are to stiff needs to think about his tuning.
    Great quality fork.

Submitted by Carlo a Cross Country Rider from Lambrecht, Pfalz, Germany
    Date Reviewed: May 31, 2007
    Favorite Trail:Königsgarten descent
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $320.00
    Strengths:Stiffness
Weaknesses:The fork reacts way to slow. You are already over the obstacle before this fork even beginns working. One could use a rigid fork instead. Same effect.
    Bike Setup:Kona Hardtail.
Bottom Line:Although the fork has a lot of features like high- and lowspeed damping, rebound, lockout, the fork just isn't plush enough. I give one Chilli for stiffness and surprisingly good assembly.

Submitted by Eric a Cross Country Rider from Constance, BaWü, Germany
    Date Reviewed: December 4, 2006
Favorite Trail:Footpath No. 1 near Lake Constance
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $426.00
Strengths:Extremely stiff, absolutely reliable. The fork is an example for over the top craftsmanship - the knobs are not made of plastic but they are made of solid metal. The manufacturer supports its product very well. The fork does not go up and down when you do not sit on the bike's saddle. It does not bump out even in very very rough terrain and it keeps the bike's front still. In respect of its stiffness this fork is really lightweight.
Weaknesses:It takes about 500 kilometers for a new fork until it works perfectly.
Similar Products Used:RST 381R, Rock Shox Pilot XC, Rock Shox SID XC.
Bike Setup:Vamped up Giant ATX 850E.
Bottom Line:This fork really impressed me. Although being a cross-country-fork it takes much abuse. Even after a jump, when I land in stones which are twice as thick as a normal fist, this fork keeps my bike maneuverable.

    Date Reviewed: August 23, 2006
    Favorite Trail:Ancient Oaks
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $250.00
Purchased At:used as demo from frame builder
Strengths:Stiff, adustable, swallows bumps with no objection
Weaknesses:takes some fiddling to tune, takes time to bed in seals, platform/ compression minimum settings a little on the stiff side weight a little high.
    Similar Products Used:Marzocchi Z1, Z2, Manitou
Bike Setup:Turner Burner, Avid Juicy 7 brakes, XT powertrain
Bottom Line:Once set up, this fork is very confidence inspiring over rough terrain. Plush enough for small bumps, but not ultra plush. I've never felt the steering move on me the way the light manitou forks did. The bike just goes where I point it. A bit costly at full retail. I'm very happy with this fork, and the beeefy construction is reassuring.

    Date Reviewed: June 16, 2006
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Purchased At:Red Barn Bicycles
Strengths:Adjustability: easy to customize to trail conditions and rider style. Predictability: consistent response across a range of amplitudes and frequencies. Rigidity: laterally stiff when standing, and bomber when locked out. Lockout lever: positive and easy to grab on the side of the crown, and no extra cables to the bar. Maintenance: low!
    Weaknesses:not as light as some
Similar Products Used:various rock shox and marzocchi
Bike Setup:Gunnar Rockhound, SRAM X0, Magura Marta SL Brake, Magura Wheels.
    Bottom Line:Great fork.

    Date Reviewed: May 1, 2006
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Strengths:Stiff, Smooth, Plenty of adjustments
    Weaknesses:None found
Similar Products Used:Rock Shox Duke, C'dale Fatty Ultra
    Bike Setup:Trek Top Fuel 110
Bottom Line:Though the fork has lots of adjustment knobs, I just set it according to the manual and it felt great right off the bat. I have made only minor adjustments (mostly to air pressure) since then. It hasn't leaked any oil to speak of, and only leaked air once (when it got very cold). It still feels great!
Be ready for questions... what fork is that??
