Favoriate Trail:highland mountain
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $299.00
Purchased At:JensonUSA
Strengths:The rebounding, the plushiness and the value
Weaknesses:heavy but who cares
Similar Products Used:boxxer
Bike Setup:Haro X1
Bottom Line:I have owned and ridden this fork on 5 inch travel for xc and 6 inch travel for freeride and occasional downhill for a year now and it is still going strong. It rolls over everything, ie. rocks, tree roots, etc with no problem. It handles corners at high speed very well. I would pay for it in full price ($650) if I didn't get such a good deal from jensonusa.

Strengths:Everything! Such a sick front fork. My 66vf is lighter and has more travel then my friends 888vf. I beat on my fork and it's been running finr gor a year.
Weaknesses:The only adjustability is air which kinda sucks. The fork didnt come with a pump so I have to take my bike into the shop to do my adjusments. No Big. Definetly woth it.
Similar Products Used:888vf, JrT, Super T etc.
Bike Setup:2006 Specialized SX trail. Bomber 66vf, fox DHX 4.0, Avid juicy 5
Bottom Line:The bottom line is that this is an amazing fork. One of the reasons I bought my SX was because it came with this 66. Im a huge marzocchi fan and the 66 is why. I Use my fork for trail riding, FR, and DH. Just an amazing front fork.

Date Reviewed: December 15, 2006
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $450.00
Strengths:stiff, impossible to bottom out, bigger than 32mm stanchions rock, looks heavy-duty
Weaknesses:crown arched too high, makes it tough to climb, found out the 2006's are lower---ughhhh!
Similar Products Used:Jr T
Bike Setup:Santa Cruz Bullit
Bottom Line:the 170mm version is awesome, though I wish I bought the 150mm version (too late now) because of the height issue, but it performs great. No control for the travel sucks but it does have air adjustment. The fork has never bottomed out for me yet, but does take a hammering without any wimpering. Its heavy and a Fox 36 maybe lighter but for the money this is great.

Strengths:Bombproof, super stiff, great for DH, has good small bump sensitivity, good ramp up for drops looks killer
Weaknesses:only has air adjustment
Bike Setup:kona stinky, 66, swinger 4 way, juicy brakes, dual 321s, DT onyx, monkeylites, intense tires
Bottom Line:This is an EXCELLENT fork for the price, if you see one for cheap go for it you will not regret it. i got to put the fork through its paces at whistler and this thing takes it all, perfect for dh, freeride. many will complain that it has no adjustments, but i found there was no need to adjust anything it was perfect as is.

Strengths:its stiff, mine came with 170mm
Weaknesses:total pile of crap ! I trashed this fork after just 2 days at whistler, leaveing me to run my kingpin down and also a boxxer. I wasnt even hitting the double black diamond trails with this fork and it died ? the kingpin delivered more than this fork did !
Similar Products Used:Stance Flow/Kingpin/Static, 02 Boxxer, 888R
Bike Setup:06 ibex zone
Bottom Line:really, its a pile of trash. it cant really hold up to the abuse, the fork is over hyped up. if you want a nice fork get a Z.1 or something else, the 66 VF just doesnt cut it as a DH fork. how can a 02 boxxer and a 06 kingpin outlast this "bombproof made in italy" fork ? Marzocchi has hassled me and wont fix the problem.

Strengths:170mm of travel on a SC fork ! stiff, gets the job done, givs you the confidence of a DC
Weaknesses:I was pretty dissapointed. I have a 05 Drop off Comp, with 20mm axle and 150mm of travel. this fork is just heaver/stronger with 20mm more travel than the drop off. the fork is way too stiff. I'm going to see about getting softer springs, because I'm running 0psi and its still way too stiff.
Similar Products Used:05 drop off comp, 06 stance kingpin (duel coil *good fork*) 888R
Bike Setup:2006 Ibex Zone, saint double cranks and a 170mm 66VF up front.
Bottom Line:if you dont allready have a similar fork, this will blow you away. but if you have something like a dropoff triple or comp like mine then you might not be as impressed. this fork is going up to whistler next week, so we'll see how it goes then.

Weaknesses:NONE!
Similar Products Used:Nothing. These forks out perform anything that I have ridden.
Bike Setup:05 Norco Bigfoot with 66vf, double track and formula hub in the front, Hayes nines
Bottom Line:This fork is great for freeriding and DH and it is single crown and it is available in a 6 inch modle so it can still handle the dirt jumps. The air assist allows the rider to set the fork to a perfect feel and it has no travel adjustments to break when you fall. I recomend this fork to anyone who like freeriding and think twice before you buy a dual crown fork because a 7 inch 66 will do the job.

Strengths:Stiff for for a single crown, Strong too 35mm stations are totally worth using. Great simple set up, Excellant Performance, plenty or travel and seems to be bottomless. Best part is it's a Marzocchi, it's gotta be reliable!
Weaknesses:HAHAHAHAHA! NONE, Nothing, NADA, ZIP ZERO!! Performance wise

Could use an external Rebound Control, seems to be dead on though as is!!
Similar Products Used:Marzocchi Jr.T, Super T, Moster T, Shiver DC, Z1 Marathon and MX

Some random Rockshox, Manitou stuff too!
Bike Setup:04 Kona Stinky; E-13 Guide, Diablous Setup (FULL) Dangerboy Rocker arms, Azonic A-Frames, Headlock, Outlaw II wheel set, Maxxis Minion 2.5 ST tires!! ODI Ruffian MX Lock-On's!!
Bottom Line:Totally and completly amazed by this forks performance and strength. Coming from a Freerider that was always using Triple Crown Forks this fork is SICK!! Single crown but as stiff as a Triple the 35mm stantions are great. Smooth and fluid performance, I've dropped it, Hucked it, DH'ed it, and Crashed it and it keeps on coming. The travel nearly feels bottomless at 170mm for a single crown!! I never thought I would ever use a single crown on my Stinky NEVER. When I installed it I was big time skeptical about how long this thing woulf last or would it even survive Diablo? It's done it all and never once felt like I was riding a single crown. No need for restrictive Triples anymore for Freeride! Could use an extrenal rebound (my preference) but the compression and rebound feel dead on form the factory. Plus no knobs to break off or get lost from banging through rocks!! Get yourself a Marz 66 and feel the difference. All the performance of a triple crown in the package of a single crown. Tough as Nails (gotta expect that from Marzocchi) and so much travel good luck harsh bottoming it! Totally impressed and done with triple crowns for Freeride too!

GET THIS FORK IF YOUR INTO FREERIDE!!

Strengths:awsome fork, replaced my Junior T with it, instantly turned my Rocky Mountain RM7 into a trail bike, dropped 1 to 1-1/2 pounds and switch backs are way easier. no lost of confidence, still 170mm and stiffer then the Junior T.
I weight 160lbs and run no air assist, and its perfct for agressive trail riding, if yor heavier, or ride harder, just simply add 5-15lbs and you should be set.
Weaknesses:no rebound adjustment, but to be honest, if i had to set it and leave it forever, Marzocchi found the perfect spot. if anything its a bit slow, but i'd rather deal with slight suck up then get bucked of my bike in a rock garden.
Similar Products Used:03 Free ride SL, 04 Jr T's, 06 888VF2
Bike Setup:2003 Rocky Mountain RM7 (WS edition), all SRAM!
Bottom Line:This is the best fork i've ever ridden/bought! its simple, stiff, and will take big hits. wieght is not bad even for trail use. if your building an agressive trail bike or a trail/resort bike, this fork is perfect!

Strengths:Massive crown, thick stanchions, beefy lowers, 20mm thru-axle, 1.5 headtube
Weaknesses:Started leaking oil immediately from the fork lower's fill plug. I think this is an exception to the rule for Marzocchi forks.
Similar Products Used:Maverick Duc32, Suntour Axon D-Lo
Bike Setup:SantaCruz Nomad, 66vf, DHX5 Air, SRAM XO 8spd, Holzfeller cranks/BB
Bottom Line:I needed more than 160mm travel for my Nomad, and regardless, I didn't want to pay the 1100 Euro for a Fox 36.
I don't care about adjustability, preload is fine by me.
I wanted a massively strong single-crown fork, and for not too bad a price.

And the Marz' 66vf fit the bill nicely.

Unfortunately, though I love the fork's performance, the thing started leaking oil from the lowers before I even got a decent ride in.
However, Marzocchi sent me a repair kit at no cost when I asked them for advice. That kind of customer service is a big plus in my book, and makes me more willing iron out the problems on my fork.

Bottom Line:Great fork. I got a killer deal on Ebay for $400 dollars and it has made me very happy. The fork is stiff even without air, strong, and feels bottomless. I took it off an 8 foot drop with no air... and still a half an inch left of travel. Very smooth, plush design and it was made in Italy.

If you are looking for a freeride fork that can handle some pretty big hits, but still want to throw some x-ups this fork is for you. Lack of adjustability makes it hard to really dial it in, but I really don't care because I don't race with it.
