Strengths:Super smooth, very little lateral flex, good range of adjustment. Travel adjustment is really a good feature.
Weaknesses:Travel adjustment knob is had to turn (on mine at least), forks must be turned over to return to 150mm travel mode if the forks are in short travel mode. (okay my forks are stuffed, note to self: stop being cheap ass and get a service)
Similar Products Used:Marzocchi DJ IIIs', SRs', Drop offs'
Bike Setup:Street Weapon
Bottom Line:Very nice feeling forks. Although the springs are a little soft, they provide a very smooth supple feel and resbond really well to small roots and imperfections on the trail.

I have used them on both a 6" dual suspension FR bike and now on my street bike, and on both they have performed great. I have hit 8'+ drops on them and they have never creaked or put up any fuss. The rebound adjuster really does work as does the preload adjuster, unlike on some other forks *cough* Marzocchi

Strengths:!Everything! this is one of my favorite forks ever. It feels so nice to do a jump and know that a excellent fork is on your bike. It does not jar you if you mess up when going of a 3 foot drop and it works excellently if you go of a 7 foot drop. This is a very confidence inspiring fork and it would be very dumb of you to not get it because it will not let you down. This fork has been used on a KHS that's chainstay broke and on a Azonic steelhead. See my review of the Azonic Steelhead at: http://mtbr.com/reviews/Freeride_Hardtail/product_127239.shtml.
The sherman is one of the best forks out there.
Weaknesses:!None At All!
Bike Setup:Azonic Steelhead, Easton EA50 handlebars, ZUZU pedals, Truvativ Hussefelt cranks, Maxxis Holyroller, Maxxis BlingBling, singlespeed(works well with a Sram X9), pig headset
Bottom Line:This is the best fork out there! It is light, beautiful, strong, confidence inspiring, and is one of the best forks out there. This fork can handle anything you throw at it.

Strengths:Well made, super stiff, best dampening on the market, full compression and rebound adjusability, strong, reliable, looks great (if that matters), EASY to use 20mm axle design, designed and manufactured in the USA, only requires a brake adapter if using 8" rotors, decent tech support...
Weaknesses:Well, the even though bottoming is never harsh, the springs feel too soft and there's no way to adjust preload. Springs on this fork (considering it's intended usage) should be set up for a bit heavier rider, since most of us enjoy hucking and also have an additional 10 lbs of armor, full face helmets, etc.........and two minor problems that showed up after using the fork for about a month; the left leg makes a clicking sound (my Jumper does this too) and the travel adjust requires turning it 2-3 times before it ever works. Neither bother me, since the clicking hasn't affected the dampening or created any other problems and I never use the "Rapid Travel II" feature, even when climbing because it messes up my geometry too much.
Similar Products Used:About a dozen different Marzo freeride and downhill forks, Rock Shox Psylo XC, Sherman Jumper, and now this one...
Bike Setup:SC Bullit - 6" travel frame, with 8" Hayes, Sun Ringle' wheelset, Fox RC, XT, Hussefelts, etc........basic freeride set-up.
Bottom Line:Even with all the weaknesses I've mentioned, this is STILL the stiffest, best dampened, most usable single crown fork I have ever ridden. Marzocchi has GREAT tech support and builds a super strong/reliable fork........but on the trail, this fork just does the job better. It sucks up everything on the trail. This fork will inspire the confidence that you usually only gain with bigger triple crown forks, and at under $300 shipped, there is no better single crown fork for freeriding. At least, not one I've tried.

Strengths:Plush, seemed stiff enough to me. The adjustability is nice, especially if you need to pedal up the hill, dropping the travel to 110 helps the pedal effeciency and geometry.
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:Manitou Black, Rock Shox Judy U-turn, Junior T
Bike Setup:2002 Giant AC2
Bottom Line:Great fork. Nice and plush through the rough stuff. My set up probably would have been too soft for big hits, but just change springs and your set. No reliability issues, the fork ran great for the summer that I rode it, about 7 days of Freeride plush a a dozen or so times XC around the Edmonton river valley. This fork would be ideally suited to "light" freeriding/"heavy" all-mountain. The weight is reasonable, it has the adjustability to pedal up if needed, and with 150mm, it seemed to handle everything I could throw at it comming down the hill. Heavier freeriding might want to consider a bigger fork, but this fork is a great for what it is. 4 chilis for value cuz I'm cheap, 4 chilis for overall because it could be a little lighter.

Strengths:Plush, Plush, Plush, travel adjustment
Weaknesses:With QR they are a little flexy under my 275 lb hide.
Bike Setup:Iron Horse Yakuza Bakuto
Bottom Line:Bottom line, for the money when they are on sale as leftovers they are a really great deal, I am a fat dude so I switched to the X firm ride kit right away. My sag is almost perfect with the X firm spring and the fork is very plush in the top part of its travel. It firms up nice and gradually as it nears the bottom but I have never bottomed it. I am not an x treme rider but I am heavy and I hard on parts and I havent had any leaks or breakage after a year of use. I ride rocky and rooty NC single track atleast twice a week year round so this fork has been well used. When it is turned down to 110mm it firms up alot which is cool if I am climbing alot but I usually just leave it at 150mm. I just bought a Travis for my new build and if it works at least as well as the Sherman I will be happy.

Strengths:Very plush and smooth, eats up almost anything up to 10 feet, but it can also handle anything else above that too.
Ability to switch from 110 to 150 is very convenient.
Weaknesses:Too soft is it's down fall, get firm or even xfirm springs and you're set.

Bottom Line:Great fork, if you're looking at getting a fork that can handle dirtjumps, trails, drops or freeride, this is the fork for you, very good deal for the amount paid. Very plush, but if you're heavier than 180, I would recommend some firmer springs, other than that, it's all good, so go out to you're local dealer, or log onto a website and buy it, NOW!

Bottom Line:this is a follow up review. i was bottoming this thing too easily so i went to the firm ride kit. no luck. this resulted in the fork loosing its plush feeling but still bottoming on any drop higher than 4 feet. oil levels / weight all checked out. as a side note, the compression and rebound dials spin all crooked-like and the seals leak after about 8 months of use. granted i ride pretty hard but i'm not a hack and this thing is supposed to take it. (isn't freeride what a sherman is for? this fork looks "freeride" but certainly doesn't perform.) high speed hits feel just horrendous. really fast rocky stuff will beat the hell out of you. i guess that's a problem with plain ol' tpc.

sorry but i find 12 foot drops with this fork hard to believe. get this if you want to look like a bad@ss but not actually ride like one. maybe finding a tpc+ damper to put in this thing would make all the difference...

Strengths:can be found for cheap now, torsionally stiff, smooth and burly
Weaknesses:fore and aft movement is a little flexy, requires frequent maintenance to keep it smooth, a little heavy compared to the '06 forks, tpc is not as good as tpc+ (obviously)
Similar Products Used:firefly, marzocchi mxr, black, vanilla 125rl, amp
Bike Setup:turner ab/rfx 6" front & back, light freeride setup, about 35lbs.
Bottom Line:This is a good fork for the money. it's burly, smooth and can handle fairly decent sized drops. it's torsionally stiff and the fore/aft flex I mentioned earlier isn't really noticed on the trail (I may just need to replace the bushings, not sure. I have a 5" firefly that doesn't do this). it's very simple to work on, change oil, lube semi-bath, etc.
if you live in wet weather like I do, you'll be overhauling and adding semi-bath oil every 3 months at the least to keep it smooth.
get this fork if you want a reasonably priced all-duty fork that can handle big drops and you're not afraid of taking things apart.

For those ppl who said rebound dont work.. it does work if you turn the blue know counter clock wise(your point of view from sitting on a bike) it will slow ur rebound and clock wise.. fast. you cannot tell the difference until you go out and push the fork down while u rideand you weel feel the difference.

Strengths:Light, low axle-to-crown, really smooth, fairly stiff
Weaknesses:Spring way too light, no "clicks" on rebound or compression, rebound seems to do nothing. Overall not very adjustable. Travel adjust stopped working.
Similar Products Used:Z1
Bike Setup:Brodie Thumper, setup for freeride
Bottom Line:Can't complain too much cuz I got it for two bills brand new. Thought it was a great deal at the time but you do get what you pay for...

Anyway I only weigh 145 and the stock spring is a noodle. Makes no sense as this thing is supposed to be freeride, right? I have a firm spring on the way so we'll see what that does. Right now I bottom on anything over four feet. It doesn't bottom harshly, at least.

I'm not sure why there's no preload on the thing, or any sherman for that matter. I hope the firm spring is perfect. The compression adjustment should help in that regard, but the range seems really small.

I would like to know where my settings are - why no detents on the adjusters? I guess the rebound doesn't do anything anyway.

Travel adjust broke within two weeks, and I never used it, so it ain't my fault. Speaks to the somewhat poor build quality.

All in all this is a cheap fork. Not bottom of the line, but cheap. I'll go back to Marz when I break this thing.

Bike Setup:'04 Haro X2, Azonic Outlaw wheelset, Juicy 5 brakes etc.
Bottom Line:I wanted a multi-purpose fork to better match my do-it-all Haro so I upgraded the stock EXR Pro with the Flick+ and it completely transformed my bike. The Manitou Flick+ is the ideal all-purpose medium-duty freeride fork. It gives a super plush ride, gobbles up baby heads and soaks up 10+ drops (to tranny) with ease. I have the thru-axle version and for slow technical rockgardens, the forks stiffness shines. The axle to crown height is one of the lowest of the 150mm forks availabe (which was an issue for me). I weigh 200+ and got the X-firm springs but can still bottom on slow speed drops to flat (like most forks). When it does bottom, it's not harsh. The compression and rebound adjustments work like they're supposed to. The only thing this fork lacks is bottoming control but hasn't been much of an issue for me. At $260 a killer deal from Jenson. Bender wannabes look elsewhere. Everyone else, get one while you can.

Strengths:Lightweight for a 6 inch travel fork, Reasonably stiff considering my weight and the fact that I'm using a QR, As always, the best dampening on the market, Durable, Plush
Weaknesses:Weak ass stock spring (those Manitou guys must be skinny dudes)
Similar Products Used:Marzocchi Drop Off Triple-durable but dampening on it sucks!, no adjustments (except changing oil weight).
Bike Setup:'04 Kona Stinky
Bottom Line:I have always felt that Manitou has the best dampening on the market. Their forks aren't always the best, but their dampening is. This fork is super responsive and just sucks up everything in its path. I wish they'd stop putting springs in for 140 lbs riders, its not like this is a XC fork! But an extra $20 is a small price to pay for a stiffer spring since the fork is such a smoking deal. If you can afford a new front wheel, I'd recommend the 20mm drop-outs. I got it with the QR because I couldn't afford a new front wheel, and there is definently some flex, though its not that bad. I use it on up to 6 foot drops, with transition landings (medium Post Canyon stuff) and it works great for that. I also XC my Stinky (its about 36lbs) sometimes and the travel adjustment is nice for long climbs. Overall the value is killer and it is a nice fork for medium freeriding terrain.
