from vancouver Date Reviewed: November 2, 2007 | | Favorite Trail: | Freight train | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Purchased At: | used | | Strengths: | extremely smooth, unparalleled small bump resistance, TPC+ damping | | Weaknesses: | requires maintenance often, spare parts hard to find lighter forks of the same class availible. Can be expensive | | Similar Products Used: | marzocchi 66 vf, many dirt jumpers, Z.1s manitou shermans | | Bottom Line: | If you want the best of performance look no further than these. The bump resistance is incredible thanks to the TPC+ damping, they soak up the smallest of bumps and always keep the wheel glued to the ground. Maintenance wise these are VERY demanding. They are a inverted design so, the oil that surrounds the damper and stanchions will slowly dissipate out around the seals over time as they are only dust wipers. Then leaving the stanchions and springs dry, the springs rub the inside of the stanchions making the fork feel very rough. Every couple of rides or so you should unscrew the top caps and squirt 15ccs of motor oil into the forks to keep them running smoothly. Another solution is to install aftermarket true oil seals like enduro, as the stock seals are just dust wipers. That aside if you take care of these forks they will take care of you. If you are someone who does not like to do frequent maintenence do not buy this fork, if you are someone who is looking for the best performing fork and is willing to sacrifice time for maintenence then this fork is for you. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
