Favorite Trail:Any thing that squirts the adrenaline
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Purchased At:Happy Valley Cycles Masterton
Strengths:The best strenth of this product is its price, diamond back tend to give you reasonably good components for every dollar spent you dont seem to pay for the name as much. On the XTS MOTO the best component would have to be the 6-way swinger at the rear followed by the Jr T's up front + mad stopping with the Hayes Hydrolics running 8in rotors
Weaknesses:I love this bike but am getting tired of replacing rear suspension bushes (3 times 1 year) suppose this is normal for the jumps and size of the drops I ask of it maybe more time should have been spent on this little part at factory level otherwise bike stood up to some pretty sick airs
    Similar Products Used:2xGT 1xSpecialised 3xdiamondbacks
    Bike Setup:mazz Jr T 170mm Front end
    man swinger 6-way rear
hayes hydrolic carbon fibre lever 8in rotor discs fr & r

Bottom Line:Buy this bike if you want value for money dont buy it if you want it to handle >3m drops to flat. Most of my friends race and they get pissed when I blitz them on a bike worth 1/2 of their value. I really like this bike but maybe should have brought the STRIKE but no complaints for what I paid :)

Similar Products Used:kona stinky delux, specialized demo 9, norco fuse

    Purchased At:DIAMONDBACK
Strengths:GREAT COMPONENTS FOR THE PRICE. GOOD GEOMETRY.
Weaknesses:NEEDS STIFFER FRONT FORK, SUPER T MAYBE? CABLE ROUTING SUCKS, LOSE ALL THE CLIPS AND END UP USING ZIP TIES.

Bottom Line:THIS IS A GREAT FREERIDE BIKE FOR ANY TERRAIN. POUNDING THE STREETS URBAN STYLE OR RALLYING SOME SINGLE TRACK AND WOOD WORK. TRIM THE HANDLE BARS/NEW GRIPS/WIDER FRONT TIRE/NON WTB SEAT/AND THROW AN OLD INNER TUBE AROUND THE SWING ARM AND HIT IT!!

    Date Reviewed: March 12, 2004
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $1100.00
Strengths:very strong frame not afriad of doing anything on it. suspension is a strong point on this bike
Weaknesses:The first week the front brake cable broke. I think it was because it was old and brittle
    Similar Products Used:Spelized comp
Bike Setup:stock except for new brake cable
Bottom Line:Awsome bike for the money and it comes from a trusted company. Could use for almost any thing except cross country. A great bike for a first timer and maybe a itermediate.

    Date Reviewed: August 28, 2003
    Favorite Trail:Bull Mountain
    Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Bang for the Buck! Can't believe the componentry on this bike for $2000. Great spec.
Weaknesses:Only weakness I have found is in the shock mount. Had to replace the lower shock bolt after the first ride. Also had to find some .5mm spacers to go in on same bolt. Was getting some side-play in that lower shock mount. Now the bike rides awesome.
Bike Setup:Stock, except for pedals (azonic Mag), and lock-on grips. Also changed tires out to Kenda 2.6 Sticky rubber.
Bottom Line:Great bike at a great price. There is a little bit of brake jack, but hopefully Therapy will do a floating disc kit and that should fix that problem. At $2000 even if you have to tack on $300 for a floating disc it is still a great deal.

Favorite Trail:two trees on the M. mountain
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $660.00
    Purchased At:woodcrest bicycle center
Strengths:this bike is great.i just bought the frame/rear shock.the frame is big and burrly and im not afraid to crack it. the fox vanilla RC is smooth. the pivots are all sealed and it runs good.
Weaknesses:the only weeknesses i have seen so far is that the cartridge on the rear shock would hit a peice of the swing arm and stop the travle amd the spring is way to stiff for me i only wiegh about 120 and the spring is a 700-2.30
    Similar Products Used:nothin
Bike Setup:marzocchi jr.t(98,sun rims sigle wides panaracer Dh pro tyres, power tools head set and astro DH bars, grimeca 8in disc brakes, shimano XTR shifting, WTB seat, XTR cranks, s&m platform peatals, MRP chain guard, odi lock-on grips and a GT seat post
Bottom Line:bottom line tis bike kick ass so far and i am having fun on it i have not really been able to do much downhill beacuse of the stiff spring but i have done some freeride like a 7 and 8 footer drop

    Date Reviewed: April 29, 2003
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $520.00
    Purchased At:Diamondback
Strengths:Good value, seems tough so far, good geometry, good paint, sealed bearings at all pivots, welds seem good, main frame is well built, good shock.
Weaknesses:Piss-poor cable routing, swingarm was welded mis-aligned, out of the box the shock was backwords and would come in contact with the swingarm, heavy frame (10lbs).
Similar Products Used:Marin Mount Vison Pro
Bike Setup:'02 Marzocchi DJ2 fork. 98 XTR Crank/BB R Der, Cassette, and Chain. 98 XT Shift/Brake levers. 03 XT F Der. Avid Mechs. XT Disc/DT Comp/Salsa Semi R wheel, Sunrace JuJu disc/DT Champ/Bont Mustang F wheel. WTB Weirwolf 2.5's. FSA Pig DH. Control Tech Tenasious D bar. Thompsen/Titec Berzeker KTI for trail use, Shorty SR/Haro Mirra Pro for DH/FR/Urban.
Bottom Line:Bought it as a frame/shock/clamp only. Cable routing sucked, but hasn't really troubled me yet. The resivour on the shock hit the top pivot beam, had to be reversed. And again, the swingarm isn't straight. Other than that it's been good, smooth travel, flies pretty well. We'll see how long it lasts. But from what I understand, it comes out of the same factory as the Azonics. Total bike wieght is 35lbs.

Strengths:i reviewed this after Interbike last year, and i feel the same, i couldn't be happier with it.
Weaknesses:the wait was a bit too long, it kept getting pushed back farther. change the grips right off, and cut the seat post.
    Similar Products Used:DBR X-6
Bottom Line:great bang for the buck, an out of the box racer.

Strengths:I've never ridden a bike that felt so nice, you don't have to pop over things just ride at them and the bike will go right over. Set the piggy back so the rear shock recoils fast and you can use the bike like a trampoline.
Weaknesses:I hate heavy bikes, but I guess it's somewhat lite for what it is. upper 30's. Big bike hard to get on and off.
Similar Products Used:Cannondale Jekyll 1,000 (27.3 lb. and 5.3 in. of travel.)
    Bike Setup:stock.
Bottom Line:Fun do anything bike, would do so/so on XC riding.

    Purchased At:North Division
Strengths:This bike is neetest thing since soft toilet paper. It has good parts and wont brake the bank. Everything is good on it even the seat I think it is like a pillow for my terd cutter.
Weaknesses:This bike has the crappy of crap grips. Otherwise there actually not to bad that is just my opinion and I dont really want anyone to base any sort of decision on my opinion. (I dont even like to ride uphill)
Similar Products Used:I have tested lots of stuff becouse I am the egocentric bike shop mechanic who has all the cool stuff and rides none of it.
Bike Setup:I ride it almost totally stock. (different grips) Becouse if you can ride a bike stock then you have learned to be content and can be one with the OEM.
Bottom Line:The bottom line is allways what the bike shop owners ask the reps to find if the bike is going to make them the good margin. So the bottom line is YES. Buy this bike becouse nobody needs more unless you are better than everbody else, and in that case you dont need a bike you need a counselor. Or maybe you are better than everbody else then hats off to you. Otherwise just buy the bike becouse you want it and no one else matters.

    Purchased At:Glacier Cyclery
Strengths:Good solid fork, much better than 02 Jr. T. Rear susp. is very plush and is an honest amount of travel. Good all around specs.
Weaknesses:Contact points-grips(buy new ones while your at the bike shop if you buy it), saddle is pretty uncomfortable, and pedals are not the best.
Similar Products Used:Ridden lots, but owned none. RM7, Bullit, Dare, the list goes on when you work at a bike shop.
Bike Setup:Stock except for Rogue lock on grips
Bottom Line:This is the best bike for the money in its field. Very plush, really stiff, good parts spec, doesn't feel sluggish like a typical DH bike, it feels more like a jacked up trail bike. I have my choice of bikes but I chose this one because you can buy a Bullit frame and Jr. T for what this bike costs. They went cheap on grips and pedals, but it isn't a custom bike so you can't expect everything to be the best. Great bike, highly reccomend it. If you ride trials most of the time and this is your only bike you may want to lighten it up because mine weighed in at a stout 43lbs.

    Favorite Trail:Centenial Trail
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Purchased At:5 finger discount
Strengths:Nice color. The blue really seperates me from the other animals in the woods. Handlebar is nice and wide. Lots of room to mount my gun rack. The bike is really sturdy. Looks like she'll pack out at least a 300lb buck. Real good brakes. I don't like goin very fast so speed control is very important to me. Low gearing is perfect for long climbs out to the "secret spot".
Weaknesses:Didn't come with any air in the tires! Damn shifters don't seem to do anything. Neither do any of the screws on the deraylers. (Japaneese Junk I suppose) The bike doesn't steer very well. Turning radius is worse than my '73 RV. Fixed that though. Just cut the tubes off of the front fork so they will clear the frame. Perfecto'. Hopefully they will fix this for next year.
Similar Products Used:Yamaha quad. Two stroke. Schwinn Varsity. (I have lots of bikes though, probably more than anyone I know)
Bike Setup:Saddle height 36 inches. Rear rack for gear, (pocket knife, Side arm, Camo leanto, Grub, Ghetto blaster +_ tunes, ass wipe, magazines. ETC) I also have a two piece rifle/bow mount attched to the handlebar for easy access.
Bottom Line:I like the bike but I can see where I would change a couple things that the manufacture over looked. Sure is fun though.

    Purchased At:Galyans
Strengths:This bike has one of many strengths. For one the forks and discs, have you ever seen a bike with double clamps and hydraulics for this price?
Weaknesses:Not Easton RAD, but who cares.
Similar Products Used:Old bike was a DB XTS-1 but it was meant for Cross Country, Im more of a freerider.
    Bike Setup:Stock
Bottom Line:The bike is the bomb, you on a budget and need a good bike, this is the real deal. The people that shouldnt buy it are people looking for a bike that can handle 20+ ft. drop impacts, Iv gone a 13 on it and would not try any bigger. But on the other hand it is a great bike for what I do seeing Im 14.

Strengths:i havn't gotten it yet, but i am only a couple of weeks away. for the price, its amazing! its got a great parts package, Hayes, Truvativ, WTB, Marzocchi, and Fox. 7" and 7". i have only gotten to sit on it, but for anyone who remembers the DBR of a few years back, get ready to see what a amazing budget minded freeride bike is like.
Weaknesses:none yet. (i will Update later)
